Introductory Message
Welcome to Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship Grade 12!
The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the
Schools Division of Silay and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas through
the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is developed to
guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents, and responsible adults) in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.
The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to
guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.
For the learning facilitator:

Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the teaching-learning activities specified in
each Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face
encounter between you and the learner. This will be made available to the learners
with the references/links to ease the independent learning.

Activity Sheet is developed to help you continue learning even if you are not in
school. This learning material provides you with meaningful and engaging activities
for independent learning. Being an active learner, carefully read and understand the
instructions then perform the activities and answer the assessments. This will be
returned to your facilitator on the agreed schedule.

II. Background Information for Learners
Community action is any activity that provides services to people and
increases the understanding, engagement and empowerment of communities.
There are different methods and approaches of community actions with the
help of these methods and approaches we can better understand our community.
1. Partnership building with the local groups- partnership allow members of the
group to work together to address concerns and plan ways to meet the
community’s objective.
2. Community profile presents an overview of relevant information about a certain
community.
3. Needs assessment is the process of determining the needs of a community and
planning ways to address the concerns that were gathered along process.

4. Leadership and Participatory Action Planning
Community leadership is described as less hierarchical and often based on
voluntary actions, serving as an instrument for changes.
Participatory action, is an approach that uses different means to address issues
identified by a community.
5. Resource mobilization is the process of getting range of resources from a
resource provider (or donor), by using mechanisms for a community’s project to
work and achieve its goal.

6. Social action in Sociology pertains to the act that a person makes taking into
account the reactions and behaviour of others.
7. Social action evaluation
Evaluations are conducted to be aware of several points to consider when
conducting an action plan. This will allow the individual/group to gather the
relevant and substantial information to understand the impact of community
projects in relation to the community’s goals.
The stages in conducting an evaluation include the framing of the evaluation,
designing the evaluation, and doing the evaluation.
Questions that will be prepared for the evaluation should be clear and precise,
and there are also several methods that can be applied when gathering information.
It is likewise important to identify patterns and themes from the information
gathered and be able to better analyze the findings. Then, evaluation reports are
prepared and disseminated to others through various means. Afterwards, the most
significant thing to do is administer the necessary actions based on the information
gathered from the evaluation.
In this learning activity sheet, you’re going to formulate your own community
action that would help you and your community address the problems using the data
you have gathered.

Directions: Think of a problem in your community that you want to address. Make a
need assessment to come up with a solution to the problem. The following are the
guide questions that you can use in conducting your needs assessment.

Exercise 2
Directions: After you conduct your needs assessment, using the data collected
conduct a SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunity and Threat) Analysis. Write
your inputs in SWOT matrix.
