NEP-UGCF 2022 Exam Guidelines

NEP-UGCF 2022-GUIDELINES

1. The entire evaluation process for Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Skill Enhancement Course
(SEC) & Value Addition Course (VAC) papers shall be undertaken by each college where the
AEC/SEC/VAC are being taught and the teacher responsible for the conduct of learning of the
AEC/SEC/VAC shall be responsible for the evaluation.

The Examination of the Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) & Value
Addition Course (VAC) papers studied under the Cluster Colleges, shall take place at the College of
admission/enrollment. The answer-scripts of these papers shall be evaluated at the Cluster College
and the awards will be provided to the College of admission/enrollment for further upload on the
Samarth Portal.

2. There shall be no REVALUATION in respect of Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Skill Enhancement
Course (SEC) & Value Addition Course (VAC) papers as these papers are evaluated by the teachers
who taught the said papers. However, Examination Wing may allow rechecking in these papers as
per prescribed procedure and payment of requisite fee.

3. The General Elective Courses offered by the department will be taught by teachers of the same
department. A student admitted in a particular programme offered by a department can opt for
General Elective Courses offered by other department, for example, a student admitted under B.A.
(Hons) History / B.A. (Programme) with History as one discipline cannot opt for any General Elective
Courses offered by Department of History.

4. A student who appears in an odd-semester examinations or who was eligible to appear in the odd
semester examinations but remains absent in any or all the papers of the said semester, shall move
on to the next even semester irrespective of his/her result in the said examinations provided
examination form for both the odd and even semester examination is duly submitted and requisite
fee paid by the candidate.

5. Student who do not fulfill the promotion criteria mentioned above shall be declared fail in the
promotion examination of the academic year concerned. However, they shall have the option to
retain the marks in the papers in which they want to retain.

6. A student who wants to re-appear for improvement in marks in a paper prescribed for semester
I/III/V/VII may do so only in the semester examinations to be held in November/December. A
student who wants to re-appear for improvement in a paper prescribed in semester II/IV/VI/VIII
may do so only in the examinations to be held in May/June.

7. A student may re-appear in any theory paper prescribed for a semester, on foregoing in writing
her/his previous performance in the appear/s concerned. This can be done in the immediate
subsequent semester examination only (for example, a student re-appearing in paper prescribed for
semester I examination may do so along with subsequent semester III examination and not along
with papers for semester V).

8. A candidate who has cleared examinations of Part-3 (Semester- V & VI) /Part-4 (Semester- VII &
VIII) may re-appear in any paper of V/VII or VI/VIII semester only once, at the immediate
subsequent examinations on foregoing in writing her/his previous performance in the paper/s
concerned, within the prescribed span period.

Note: The candidate of this category will not be allowed to join any post-graduate courses.

9. In the case of re-appearance in paper, the result will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s current
performance in the examinations.

10. The awards of the Practical/Tutorial/Internal Assessment shall be uploaded on the Samarth Portal
as per the marks distribution table below: -

11. There shall be no supplementary examinations.

12. Letter Grades and Grade Points- A student who becomes eligible for the certificate/diploma, or
Bachelor’s degree as per Ordinance IX, 12(1). Such a student shall be categorized on the basis of the
combined result of semester I to semester II/IV/VI/VIII examination under NEP-UGCF-2022 on a 10-
point grading system with the following Letter Grades as given below:

13. Passing/Promotion Criteria

a. A Student shall be eligible for promotion from Part-1 to Part-2 of the Course provided S/he has
passed at least 50% papers of Semester-I and Semester-II taken together.

b. Similarly, a student (irrespective of the Part-1 results) shall be eligible for promotion from Part-2
to Part-3 of the course provided s/he has passed 50% papers of Semester III and IV taken
together.

c. Similarly, a student (irrespective of the Part-1 and Part- 2 results) shall be eligible for promotion
from Part-3 to Part-4 of the course provided s/he has passed 50% papers of Semester V and VI
taken together.

d. Students who do not fulfill the promotion criteria a, b, and c above shall be declared fail in the
Part Concerned. However , they shall have the option to retain the marks in the papers in which
they have secured Pass marks as per applicable rules.

14. Issue of Marksheet/Grade Certificate/Transcript: Based on the grades earned, a Grade


Certificate shall be issued to all the registered students by the University after every semester and a
consolidated Marksheet/Grade Certificate indicating the performance in all semesters. The Grade
Certificate will display the course details (code, title of the paper, number of credits, grade secured)
along with SGPA of each semester and CGPA earned based on each academic year.

15. Letter Grades calculation shall be as per formula provided for all the undergraduate courses as
provided in the Ordinance IX except that the formula for calculating the final percentage of marks
will be as follows:-

- Final Percentage= Grand CGPA based on all semesters X 10

Note: The percentage of marks will not be displayed on the Grade Certificate/Marksheet/Transcript.

16. Eligibility for award of Certificate/Diploma/Degree and Division Criteria: -

A Student who passes all the papers (minimum ‘Numerical Grade 4) prescribed for semester I to
semester II/IV/VI/VIII examination under UGCF-2022, would be eligible for the award of UG
certificate/UG diploma/Bachelor’s degree. Such a student shall be categorized on the basis of the
combined result of examinations as follows: -

60% or more * First Division


50% or more but less than 60% * Second Division
Less than 50% & declared passed * Third Division

*based on the conversion formula from the Grand CGPA to final percentage as-

Final Percentage= Grand CGPA based on all semesters X 10
