Course This lecture-laboratory course presents an overall scope,
Description complexity, and interconnectedness of geology, meteorology,
and astronomy covering the origin of the universe, solar system, and
the earth. It also covers Earth processes, both past and present; the
structure, composition, and fundamental materials of the earth;
plate tectonics, the atmosphere, weather, and climate; earth’s water
resources, and the Earth’s place in the universe. Earth’s resources
and environmental topics will be stressed presenting environmental
or geological problems such as volcanoes, earthquakes, climate,
landslides, groundwater, rivers, wind, glaciers, ocean, mineral and

energy resources and physiographic features of the Philippines. Also
included are topics on space science, space exploration, the solar
systems including the sun, planets, and moons and the formation of
stars, galaxies, and the universe. Special emphasis will be given to
the Earth’s climate – its past climate, the changing composition, the
interplay between heating from the sun, the oceans, and climate, -
and climate modeling detailing climate change and human influences
on climate.
