Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

A single prolonged exposure may result in the material being absorbed in harmful amounts.
Emergency personnel should wear a self-contained breathing apparatus because noxious fumes
are under fire consition.

May cause irritation which may result in permanent impairment of vision. A single prolonged skin
exposure may result in the material being absorbed in harmful amounts.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

NOTE TO PHYSICIAN

No specific antidote is known. If the patient is conscious and is known to have swallowed
deltamethrin, it may be useful to carry out gastric lavage. Activated charcoal may be useful in
reducing further adsorption of the compound. Symptomatic treatment and supportive therapy is
indicated.

SECTION 5. Firefighting Measures

Fire and Explosion

Flash Point : 43ºC

Extinguishing Media

Suitable:

Small fires: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powders, regular foam and water spray.
Large fires: Water spray, fog, or regular foam. Move containers from fire area if you can do it
without risk. Dike fire control water for later disposal; do not scatter the material.

Water fog or fine spray is the preferred medium for large fires. Ensure that no spillage enters
drains or water courses.

Unsuitable:

Avoid straight streams of water.

Special Hazards

The material does not burn. It is not explosive. Should the chemical be involved in a
general fire, ensure chemical protective clothing is used. It can produce toxic fumes.

Special Protective Equipment for Firefighters:

Wear positive-pressure, self-contained breathing apparatus and complete protective fire

fighting attire (includes helmet, coat, trousers, boots and gloves). Avoid contact with this material
during firefighting operations. If contact is likely, change to full chemical resistant firefighting
clothing with self-contained breathing apparatus.

Special Exposure Hazards in a Fire:

As for all organic materials, combustion may lead to hazardous oxides of carbon and other
toxic fumes.

SECTION 6. Accidental Release Measures

Personal Precautions

Avoid contact with spilled material. Warm or evacuate occupants in surrounding and
downwind areas if required, due to toxicity or flammability of the material.

For emergency responders: Respiratory protection: half-face or full-face respirator with filter(s) for
organic vapor and, when applicable, H2S, or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) can be
used depending on the size of spill and potential level of exposure. If the exposure cannot be
completely characterized or an oxygen deficient atmosphere is possible or anticipated, SCBA is
recommended. Work gloves that are resistant to aromatic carbons are recommended. Note:
gloves made of polyvinyl acetate (PVA) are not water-resistant and are not suitable for
emergency use. Chemical goggles are recommended if splashes or contact with eyes is possible.
Small spills: normal antistatic work clothes are usually adequate. Large spills: full body suit of
chemical resistant, antistatic material is recommended.

Environmental precautions

This product contains pyrethroids which are toxic to fish and other aquatic invertebrates.
Do not allow spilled product or wash solution to enter sewages, drains, dams, creeks, or any other
waterways. Contaminated absorbent and wash water should be disposed of according to local,
state/provincial and federal/national regulations.

Method for Containment

Stop leak if safe to do so, and contain spill. Absorb onto sand, vermiculite or other suitable
absorbent material. if spill is too large or if absorbent material is not available, try to create a dike
to stop material spreading or going into drains or waterways. Sweep up and shovel or collect
recoverable product into labeled containers for recycling or salvage, and dispose of promptly.
After spills, wash area preventing runoff from entering drains. If a significantly quantity of material
enters drains, advise emergency services.

Method for Cleaning Up

Soak up with earth or other material. Rinse the polluted area with water and suitable
detergents. Collect waste water for treatment.

Spill/Leak procedure:
Notify safety personnel, isolate and ventilate the area, deny entry and stay upwind. Shut off all
ignition sources.
