Dear Banner Health Team,
As a dedicated individual in health sciences, having just earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I am thrilled to
be applying for the role of Registered Nurse in your Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Banner University Medical
Center. My experience as a preceptor in the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit has equipped me with
advanced critical care skills and the use of appropriate nursing interventions through critical thinking that fulfill
the needs of this position. These skills, along with my in-depth knowledge of the cardiovascular system and
related pharmacology, enables me to be a valuable healthcare team member and an asset within this hospital
unit.
Throughout my clinical rotations, simulations, labs, and preceptorship, I have gained the experience necessary
to properly prepare me for this role. From March to April 2023, I had my preceptor-ship at Banner Heart
Hospital in Tempe, Arizona in the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit where I practiced, learned, and honed
my skills as a cardiac nurse. I was frequently tasked with placement of ECG leads, monitoring and reading ECG
strips, and management of patient care independently. Under supervision, I was allowed to independently
calculate patient medication dosages, program and manage pumps, and administer high-alert medications
successfully.
Coming from a program with an intense focus on integrative health, I care for my patients using a holistic
approach and can initiate interdisciplinary communication successfully. As a nursing student, it was important
to myself that I introduce integrative therapies not only as part of client treatment, but to incorporate it into
my own life. Since doing so, I have a deeper understanding and appreciation of integrative and holistic
therapies. This enables me to provide the best quality of care and will make me an asset on your
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
I believe the clinical experience I gained throughout these past 17 months earning my Bachelor of Science in
Nursing with an emphasis on Integrated Health has allowed me to grow confident in my abilities as a nurse. My
time in the progressive and critical care units has provided me with the tools necessary to become an
outstanding critical care nurse on your cardiovascular intensive care unit. Thank you for your consideration and
I look forward to speaking with you about how my skills align with this position.
Sincerely,
Maria Lipets
