Week 7- Reflections from Research Conference (Sept 27-28, 2021)

Instructions: Write brief summary of learning (5-7 sentences) from the two-day research
conference. Begin with the brief discussion of the topic, lecture or research study. For
concurrent sessions, choose only one among 3 presenters.
DAY 1 LEARNING SUMMARY
Keynote Speaker The speaker discussed the things that
John Wesley Taylor V, PhD, EdD individuals frequently believed in research,
“Myths in Research Along with a Few Truths without realizing that they were really
and Half-truths” "myths." Many people believe that research
(1) all questions were answered, (2) data can
speak for themselves, (3) if there is no
statistically significant, there is no
relationship, (4) a small sample size is a
magic number, (5) it is proven or confirmed,
(6) a larger sample is better, and (7)
something statistically significant is
important. These misconceptions were
unavoidably incorrect, but they should be
addressed. Research is not readily obtained or
gathered. They should go via processes rather
than being imposed haphazardly. Research is
conducted by evaluating a range of studies
that were also generated via research. It could
also be connected or related to each other, but
they have different contents and results.
Concurrent Sessions I The speaker stressed the significance of the
(Nursing Therapy in dealing with anxiety of interaction between nurses and their patients,
COVID-19 patients based on the model of particularly when coping with anxiety. He

relationships to describe how COVID-19
Presenter: Oliver Esmundo sufferers may deal with their anxiety. He
Isabela State University emphasized the importance of nursing therapy
on nurses in assisting patients with their
problems and developing rapport with them
so that patients may express their concerns.
Anxiety should be handled as soon as
possible, and nurses should be able to build a
relationship with their patients and win their
trust. Peplau's approach demonstrates the
importance of the nurse-patient connection,
and the speaker addressed the problem by
providing solutions on how to deal the
problem.
Lecture sessions A The lecturer discussed the contents of the
(The Influence of Resilience Towards research study presented that emphasized the
Professional Burnout Among Registered influence of resilience among nurses. It is

owing to increased workload and nursing
Lecturer: Arlidette Myrizel O. Reyes personnel shortages. Nurses have the most
Manila Adventist College burnout when compared to other health care
workers. Nurse burnout is a serious problem
in health care institutions, and it has a
negative impact on clinical results. The
purpose of this descriptive-correlational study
was to discover the impact of resilience on
professional burnout among registered nurses.
When compared to other clinical units, nurses
in the accident and emergency department
had a higher level of burnout. The study
suggests that nursing administrators provide
ongoing professional education to nurses to
increase their resilience. Second, nursing
administrators should develop a work
environment that adheres to the nurse-patient
ratio, suitable working hours, and reasonable
workload.
Lecture sessions B The presenter emphasized the essence of their
(MAC Graduate School of Business and research study that learning is always a

seeks to develop and strengthen the

Richwell Colleges, Incorporated The research study concluded that
establishing an Adventist graduate school in
Pasay City, Metro Manila will be marketable
with enough students in the first year, the
same time be socially responsible providing
benefits to MAC, the students and
community. Clearly, the study proves this
project is viable and feasible at Manila
Adventist College. The study wishes to offer
three modes of learning namely: campus-
based learning, e-learning and extension
programs.
Concurrent Sessions II The speaker presented a research study on the
(Perceived Ethics and Buying Behavior perceived principle and behavior of
toward counterfeit goods in selected purchasing counterfeit products in selected
municipalities at Occidental Mindoro) localities in Occidental Mindoro. She
purposefully described her study as neutral,
Presenter: Arranguez, Genlie Mae L. depending on the outcomes. However, the
findings of this study revealed that purchasing
counterfeit items was regarded as improper,
even though the vendors were simply looking
to make a profit. In terms of the community,
purchasing counterfeit items may harm the
entire economy. Future researchers may use it
as a reference, but they should fix the study's
flaws.

DAY 2 LEARNING SUMMARY

Keynote Message The lecturer began his talk by exposing
Dr. Gaikwad beginner researchers to the various methods
“Scientific Publication for Novice for publishing research findings. It is claimed
Researchers” that research follows a methodical procedure
that must be followed to complete a research
project. Before performing research, novices
or beginners need first understand what
research is. Though they may appear to be
simple, they must be completed correctly and
objectively. Researchers have conducted
countless studies to become experts, and each
discovery has increased their knowledge of
research.
Concurrent Sessions III The presenter discussed their study and

of College Students) Psychological well-being has no significant
relationship in terms of age and gender. It also
Presenter: Villavicencio, Jaynard D. showed that the respondents use Facebook
Manila Adventist College primarily to maintain their friendship relation
to others. In addition, Facebook does connect
people. Facebook is a means for having
positive relations with others. In conclusion,
their research study points out the idea that
we must utilize the use of social media for
educational purposes as possible. Remote
learning in academic pushes students to use
other platforms just to lessen their stress that
also affects their psychological well-being.
Concurrent Sessions IV The speaker spoke about nursing students'
(Self-Confidence and Clinical Performance of self-esteem and clinical performance. Their

Based Institutions) information, skills, and conduct that will be
beneficial when the time comes to begin their
Presenter: Eva A. Salvado, RN, MSN nursing career. As a consequence of the study,
Manila Adventist College it was shown that interventions to boost
students' self-confidence have a critical
influence in their ability to learn successfully.
However, it has been observed that one of the
hurdles preventing nurses from advancing in
their professions is a lack of confidence. This
study found that boosting nurses' self-
confidence has a great potential for improving
clinical performance.
Plenary Message The goal of the research is to highlight God's
Rowena R. Antemano, PhD, RN own observations and findings. We choose to
“Involving God in the Research Process” perceive God as the focal point. God requires
research so that we might discover and see
Him and His creations. He is the basis of our
education, the source of our wisdom and
information, as well as the source of our
discoveries. From our body's tiny cells to its
structures, even if these cells are damaged or
destroyed. As the speaker mentioned,
“Research pa more, so you see God more.”
This has helped me realize what research can
accomplish, and how God is the beginning of
everything – including research, and research
is a tool God created for us to make our lives
better.
Plenary Message The speaker discussed research methods, as
Dr. Gaikwad well as its structures and techniques. He
explained how to pique people's interest in
your research project, as well as the factors
that must be considered. When performing a
research study, the researcher must produce a
cohesive study that is understandable to the
target audience. And before we go any
further, there are a few steps we need to do
before we accomplish our aim – which is to
complete our research project. Furthermore,
the speaker has mentioned the qualities that a
researcher should possess. To be a successful
researcher, trustworthiness, confirmability,
reflexivity, and confidence are essential.
