super-compact, super- output PL* lamps,
With the expanded Philips lineup of super-efficient PL* lamps, the
world's largest lighting company opens new market potentials for fix-
ture designers and marketers. As we fulfill our commitment to a total
PL* family, you gain profitable new ways to meet the skyrocketing
=
demand for energy-saving high color-rendering light points that use
only one-fourth the energy of comparable incandescents. Count on
Philips, the quality lighting leader, for new ideas that help you grow in
the lighting world
Inventing a new lighting culture.
Only Philips technology could translate the revolutionary PL* con-
cept into a whole new age of high-efficiency lighting, We invented these
compact, high-output light sources to give you more freedom to de-
velop new lighting designs with fewer materials, and to build greater
sales volume in commercial, industrial and residential markets.
Now available in an even wider choice of lumen outputs, wattages
and configurations, Philips PL* lamps can add enormous new profit
power to your design, sales and marketing strategies!

PL* lamps feature simple
push-pull installation, for
relamping speed and
economy.
Eye appeal, energy economy and lighting efficiency are com-
bined, in an environment (shown here) lighted exclusively with Philips
PL* lamps. Advanced Philips formulations of three rare-earth phos-
phors produce a high Color Rendering Index of 82, and a choice of color
temperatures to bring out the beauty of wood grains, carpeting, fur-
niture and wall coverings.
Besides the benefit of lower electric bills, long-life Philips PL*
lamps also save end users much of the trouble and cost of bulb
replacements — simply because they last up to ten times longer than
comparable-output incandescents.
Powerful payback, too!
For example, over an average 10,000-hour lifetime (3 hours per
start), each PL*13 that replaces a 60-watt or 75-watt incandescent
will save an end user more than $50 per lamp in energy, maintenance
and bulb costs. (Based on $.10/kwh and average retail prices.) Those
are powerful promotional points for innovative lamp marketers.
Innovate more profitably. ..with a complete Philips
PL* fixture line!‘PL*5; PL*7, PL*9, PL*13. Smaltilight sources
that are big profit sources!
Ever since Philips brought the first PL* lamps to the marketplace,
their energy-saving, space-saving and color-rendering benefits have cap-
tured the imagination of designers, specifiers, lighting consultants and
marketers worldwide. Available in 5-, 7-, 9-, and 13-watt ratings, delivering
200 to 900 lumens, this range of PL* lamps delivers efficacies of up to
69.2 lumens per watt for more design opportunities in both indoor and
outdoor lighting fixtures.
More output, better color rendering,
and longer life per inch of tube!
Creative lighting layouts come to life
quicker with these aesthetically pleasing,
compact, high-output light points that lend
themselves to almost any innovative design. And,
because PL* lamps use as much as 77 percent,
less energy than comparable
incandescents, many buildings
now save thousands of dollars
annually on electric bills.EX

The starter is right in the base!
You can now market a wider variety of smaller fixtures, because
Philips engineered a reliable starter-integrated circuit into these PL*
lamps. The simpler wiring cuts your costs. And since they don't require
‘powerful electrical start surge, you can design fixtures around smaller
ballasts that stay cooler on less energy, for better manufacturing
flexibility, cost-economy and convenience.

Philips PLC* cluster lamps add still another level of choice in creative
design options. Even their looks are exciting! Four shorter-length 2700K
fluorescent tubes with an 82 CRI are clustered and interconnected by the
nique Philips bridge weld. You can design indoor and outdoor fixtures
with very small ballasts and greater point source control, saving on
material costs with less metal in a smaller fixture space volume,
PLC* lamps provide the missing link in fixture design by offering
manufacturers a complete new way to replace 40- to 100-watt “A” lamps
and reflector lamps (“R’) with compact fluorescents that last up to ten
times longer while saving as much as 76 percent on energy. Their low
heat generation can also transiate into reduced air conditioning bills —
which boosts your product's appeal to specifiers. With low maximum
overall length, the economy, high lumen output and sales potential of
PLC* lamps can help you score impressively in new, bigger market
sectors.
PLC*15mm — for attractive indoor lighting.
Available in 900, 1,200, and 1,600 lumens, these 120-volt,
watt, 22-watt and 28-watt PLO*15mm lamps use small, inexpensive
ballasts. They replace 60-, 75- and 100-watt incandescents and are
ideal light sources in shallower, shorter fixtures for soft, diffuse
wide-area indoor and outdoor lighting applications. They feature — 20°F.

Special 120-volt PLC* 10mm lamps for ultra-compactness!
At 13 watts, its excellent 82 color rendering index and
860-lumen output are exceptional. Philips designed this 4.65-inch
lamp for applications where an extremely compact light source is.
desirable. Integrated starter makes it not only more compact, but
more reliable, using far less energy than open-circuit voltage starting.
Replacing a 40-, 60-, or 75-watt incandescent, its 10,000-hour life-
time makes this unique 10mm PLC* one of the most economical
lamps on the market. The lamp fits most PL*13 sockets and works off

220-volt PLC*10mm cluster lamps for superior
outdoor lighting.
With narrower tubes in a tight cluster, PLC*10mm lamps provide
excellent point source control in outdoor fixtures where a spotlighting
effect is desired. Cooler operating and 76 percent more energy effi-
cient than the incandescents they replace, PLC*10mm lamps come in
10-, 13-, 18-, and 26-watt sizes, packaged at 600, 900, 1250, and
1800 lumens. With relatively low starting temperatures, starter-
integrated operation requires auto-transformer ballast. Only 4.6 to
7.5 inches long, these high-efficacy lamps permit exceptional freedom
in new design concepts for the lighting marketplace.

fixture light outputLong PL* lamps. High-output fluorescents for brand
new lighting markets.
Philips Long PL* lamps have already launched an exciting turn-
around in fluorescent fixture design. Their super-compact single-end
construction unlocks the door to a market eager for better-looking,
more compact fixtures — from ceiling to patio to undershelf illumina-
tion, Thanks to their relatively short overall length, you can explore
newer, neater applications that deliver high-quality light from inno-
vative, energy-efficient light sources.
PL* creativity in overhead lighting.
Long PL* lamps unleash whole new concepts in overhead lighting
layouts and fixtures. Because the tubes are much thinner, there can be
more space between the lamp and fixture reflecting surface, for a
higher coefficient of utilization. By increasing the fixture’s luminosity,
more footcandles are delivered. That gives designers and lighting
consultants more room for aesthetically pleasing ceilings with fewer,
‘smaller fixtures.
Engineered with Philips quality end-to-end.
You'll find plenty of Philips quality pluses that give you powerful
built-in marketing advantages when you design around Long PL*
lamps. Our exclusive bridge weld enhances fixture light output through
cooler-burning tubes. With their four-pin base, you can design preheat,
rapid-start, electronic and dimming circuits. And, since they're Philips
through and through, they contain the world's finest trichromatic phos-
phor formulations for outstanding light quality.
