INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

1. Set up a group that consists of maximum FOUR (4) members.

2. This group project consists of TWO (2) questions (40 marks).

3. Video Presentation Guidelines:

a. You should prepare a video presentation with duration 6–10 minutes. (Suggestions: You can voice
over the Powerpoint video/powtoon/sparkol videoscribe/canva or any other creative methods of
presentation).

b. The video should not be more than 10 minutes length.

c. All information on the first slide of your presentation must consists of:
i) the title of assignment (Annuity and Trade & Cash Discount),
ii) names & photo of leader and all members,
iii) student ID
iv) group (example: MIC1101A)

d. All presentations must be in English.

e. Audio commentary and all information on the slides must be clearly presented.

f. Please send/upload your video according to the platform used by your lecturer such as Google
Classroom, UFUTURE or others. Rename your video as leader’s name and class (example: SITI

QUESTION 1

AFBF Tech Limited plans to develop a new device for health monitoring. To fund for the
development of this project, a loan worth of RM500, 000 has been made from MXX Bank. The
interest charges by MXX Bank vary depending on the term of the loan. Given the rate of interest in
Table 1.

a) Advice which is the best term the company should sign for the loan by finding the instalment
payment and the interest. Justify your answer.

b) Hence, the company plans to settle all the outstanding arrears in one payment after 25
months the device being released into the market. How much is the payment will be
according to the chosen term in (a)?

c) Based on chosen term in (a), how much should the company pay on the tenth payment to
settle the outstanding arrears if the company fails to pay the first ninth payment?

QUESTION 2
Syed and Hana a newlywed bought furniture sets for their new house and received an invoice as
follows on the 24th of May 2021 purchased. There was RM150 transportation charged to deliver the
furniture set to their house.

Since they bought few items then the seller gave them some special discounts of 10% and X% and
the cash discount terms were 8 / 15, 5 / 20, n I 30. Based on the given information:
a) Explain the cash discount terms of 8 / 15, 5 / 20, n / 30.

b) Determine the last date to receive 8% and 5% cash discount.

c) If the payment was made on the 11th of June 2021 is RM 10952.93, find the value of x.
(5 marks)
d) Calculate the single discount equivalent rate to the trade discounts given.
(3 marks)
