Subtask:
Solves real-life problems involving LCM in 2 given numbers
Remember:
To solve word problems involving LCM, we use the following steps.
Understand, Plan and solve.
The LCM or The Least Common Multiple is the smallest number that can be divided by two or
more numbers in a set.
Problem 1
Ruben takes 20 minutes to finish each set of exercises while Ramon takes 30 minutes per set. They
started at 1:00 AM. If they want to finish at the same time, at what time will they both finish their
exercises?
To solve the problem, we are going to get the LCM of 20 and 30.
We use the Continuous Division Method
Since the numbers 20 and
30 are in minutes, 60 should
also be in minutes. Ruben
and Ramon will finish their
exercises at the same time
after 60 minutes. Since they
both began at 7:00 AM,
they will finish at exactly
8:00 AM.
