Occupational Health and Safety deals with all the aspect of health and safety. It
is goal

to prevent the accidents and any things that can harm people in one workplace.
After

all it reduce any injury, illness and worker compensation in the workplace it also

improve the productivity of every employee .A worker can help to retain in

his/her

workplace. A multi- disciplinary practice dealing with all aspects of health and
safety in

the workplace, with a strong focus on preventing workplace hazard .OHS is to

provide

for the safety and health of person at work and in connection with the use of
plant and

machinery. It further provides for the protection of people other than people at
work

from the hazards arising out of or in connection with the activities from people at
work.

Having an Occupational Health and Safety Practices it help to reduce risk,

accidents or

injuries by identifying and mitigating hazards. It was improve the efficiency and

productivity of every worker due to the fewer employees missing work from
illness or
injury. Its planned system of working that helps organizations to prevent illness
and

injury at their workplace. They do this by recognizing and identifying risk and
hazards

associated with the organization. It also identifying the hazards in the workplace.

the workers compensation Act and the OHS Regulation. (www.ohs.com)

Objective increase of occupational injuries, accidents or disease, has become a

global

Trend implementation of programs on occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

programs

are weak, however strengthening the OHS, stakeholders and their constituents
must

Take the driver’s seat for policy formulation program development and services.
This

Study determined the gaps of the OHS stakeholders in the Philippines methods,
data

were gathered through review of relevant documents, series of key information

Interviews a workshops. Results and conclusions . The investigator were able to

identify

some stakeholders. Results showed gaps that focused mainly on governance.

This

Include, lack of a dedicated national agency that will oversee all OHS initiatives
across
Industries and sectors, I inadequate awareness on OHS mandate of some
agencies,

Unclear delineation of roles and responsibilities among stakeholders, poor

coordination

Among government agencies; and poor enforcement of OHS legislations. These

gaps

Should be addressed to ensure efficient implementations of the policies.

Workplace a central role in health. A conceptual model can help frame research

Priorities and questions to explore determinants of worker’s safety health and

well-

Being. A precious conceptual model focused on the workplace setting to

emphasize the

Role of conditions of work in shaping workers safety, health and well-being. This

Conditions of work include physical, organizational, and psychosocial factors.

This

Manuscript presents and discusses and updated expanded conceptual model,

placing

the workplace and the conditions of work within the borders context of socio-
political-

economic environments and consequent trends in employment and labor force

patterns.

Social political and economic trends, such as growing reliance in technology,

eliminate

change ,and globalization, have significant implications for worker’s day to day

experiences. These structural forces in turn shape employment and labor

patterns, with

implications for the availability and quality of jobs; the nature of relationships
between

employers and workers, and the benefits protections available to workers.

Understanding these pattern will be critical for anticipating the consequences of
future

changes in the conditions of work, and ultimately help inform decision making
around

policies and practices intended to protect and promote workers safety, health,
and well-

being. This model provides a structure for anticipating research needs in

response to

the changing nature of work, including the formation of research priorities, the
need for

expanded research methods and measures, attention to diverse populations of

enterprise and workers. This approach anticipates changes in the way work is

structured, managed, and experienced by workers and can effectively inform

policies

needed to protect and promote worker safety and well-being.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORKS

 SAFETY TRAINING

Safety training is considered the most important safety manage

practice,

Which can predict safety knowledge, safety motivation, safety compliance

and

Safety participation. These findings provide valuable guidance for

researchers

And practitioners to identify mechanism that can be used to improved

workplace

Safety. In every successful organization and successful accident

prevention plan

And any occupational safety and health plan, the key element is effective
safety

training.

 WORKERS INVOLVEMENT SAFETY

Employee involvement in the safety management process involves

Upward communication process and decision making between individuals

or

Groups within the organization, because employees are used to

Recommendations on safety improvements, especially in the adaptions of

new

Technologies and the materials were introduced.

 SAFETY RULES AND PROCEDURES

Explain on safety and procedures which refers to the degree to

which an

organization creates a clear mission, responsibilities and goal, set up

standards

of behavior for employees, and establishes safety to correct workers

safety
behavior
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study was geared to determine the health and safety practices of
the

workers in the workplace.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:

1. What are the OHS procedures employed by the health workers in their

Workplace ?

2. What are the best practices a health workers to minimize hazard in

their

Workplace ?

DEFINITION OF TERMS

For clearer understanding and clarity, the following terms are defined

Operational and Conceptual.

Occupational – relating to a person’s job or profession (Oxford

opposed

to theories relating to it (Oxford languages).

Workers – a person who does a specified type of a work or who work in

a

Specified way (Oxford languages).

Workplace – location where people perform task, jobs and projects

(Oxford languages)

In this study, the same definition is used.

The purpose of this study or method is to promote health practices and less the
risk in

every building on a workplace. Securing the safety and health of the person who

enters the workplace. The reason of this study is to promote the importance of
healthy

and safety practices in every workplace. This study will be conducted in

Cabatuan

Rural Health Unit that will start on the month of January 2023 until
March 2023. This will be guided by Caregiving teacher and Reasearch teacher.
Through

a systematic planning and cooperation of every member in the group. This is

expected

to be conducted successfully and will help a lot on health workers inside a

workplace.

The study covered the school year 2023 – 2024.

Chapter 2

Review of Related Literature

This chapter covers the following topics; (1) OHS legislation; (2)

Inspection/enforcement activity; (3) Training such as improving knowledge; (4)

Campaign.

OHS Legislation

The occupational Health and Safety act of 1970 heralded a new era in the

history of public effort to protect workers from harm on the job. This Act

established for the first time a nationwide, federal program to protect almost the

entire work force from job – related, death, injury and illness. OHS legislations

are to improve the working conditions in order to ensure and maintain the

working capacity of employees as well as to prevent occupational accidents and

diseases and eliminate other hazards from the work and the working

environment to the physical and mental health. With the RA 11058, employers

are now required to comply with occupational health and safety including

informing workers on all types of hazards in the workplace and having the right

to refuse unsafe work, as well as providing facilities and personal protective

equipment for the workers (www.caregiving.frontiers.com).

Inspection/Enforcement
Workplace inspections help prevent incidents, injuries and illness. Through a

critical examination of the workplace, inspections help to identify and record

hazards for corrective action. Health and safety committees can help plan,

conduct, report and monitor inspections. Regular workplace inspections are

important part of the overall occupational health and safety program and

management system in present

(Merriam-Webster,Incorporated,2023).

Training such as Improving Knowledge

OHS training improve the capability, capacity and performance of staff, leading

to safe and health – oriented behavior, often linked directly to specific tasks. This

is achieved by the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competencies. OHS

training is envisaged as an important part of a hierarchy of prevention which has

eliminations of risk and prevention of risk at source as the priorities. Risk should

be avoided or in case this is not possible reduce to a minimum, as they may

cause suffering to people, losses for companies and damage to economies.

Therefore the common sense of legislation require that employers assess the risk

for their staff and implement related preventive measures. Yet the

establishments of the risk and the subsequent design of preventive measures is a

complex and continuous task (OHS.wikipedia.com.ph).

Campaign

OHS practices of the worker in their workplace campaign raises awareness about

the impact of new digital technologies and workplaces and the associated

occupational health and safety challenges and opportunities. It also provides a

platform for the exchange of good practice solutions.
