INTRODUCTION
Intercultural pragmatics
Cross-cultural pragmatics is considered “a field of study that compares the
ways in which two or more languages are used in communication. There
are differences in any two languages as to what can be expressed in
accordance with a specific social context and how it can be done properly,
intercultural pragmatics has become an important area of research in
contrastive linguistics and applied linguistics. It has been studied by many
scientists over the years, focusing on several aspects communications that
are not always universal, such as speech acts, directness/indirectness, forms
of address, silence, interruption, pitch, and non-verbal cues.

Conclusion
This presentation highlights the importance
teaching foreign language students not only grammar and vocabulary, but
also pragmatics and cultural behaviour. In particular, she focused on the
most important issue of intercultural and interlingual pragmatics, namely
the speech act of speech.
