Digital signatures display a question mark and a "Validity Unknown"
or "Signature not verified!" message
Problem: When opening a PDF file containing a digital signature in PDF that was created on
another system, the digital signature may display a "Validity Unknown" or "Signature not
verified!" message.
Cause: This occurs when the digital certificate and digital signature associated with the PDF file
have not yet been verified on the system.
Solution: Please follow the below steps to validate the digital signatures:
1. Download the Acrobat Reader https://get.adobe.com/reader/
2. Click Printer icon to Download the Form 16
3. Open the PDF document in Acrobat Reader. You will find the “X” mark as given bellow
4. Right click the cross mark
5. Click on View Signed Version
This indicates that your Form 16 has been validated. Please do save your Form 16 copy for any future
reference without fail.
