9 CONCLUSION
INTRODUCTION
In the recent years all over India there has been a drastic
change in B.Ed. course. The switch over to one year course to
two year B.Ed. course is quite interesting and challenging task.
Any teacher education course seeks to train teacher having
requisite teaching skills.
Practicum approach adopted in the modern teacher education
course is to place a student teacher in a classroom
situation under the supervision of a qualified teacher. The
concept of Internship introduced in the two year B.Ed. course
throughout the country is quite challenging one for all the
teacher education institutions.
The aim of internship program is to incorporate teaching skills
among the student teachers. Internship program is an
effective way to give training to the student-teachers about
real world of work. It give them an opportunity to
integrate theory and practice, plan and deliver lessons
properly, critically analyse their own and peers teaching
styles and improve them in the light of feedback given by
supervisors. Through this program they understand the role
and responsibilities of professional teachers. Internship
program also give them opportunity to understand different
aspects of school program and improve their skills and abilities in
teaching profession.
An effective and improved internship program is required in
developing student-teachers personalities as true professionals in
field of education.
The objective of the School Internship
Program
Developing professional capacities, teacher sensibilities, and
sustained engagement of student-teachers ith learners and schools.
Exposing the student-teacher to multicultural contexts of the society
which influence the school environment and its functioning.
Validating the theoretical understanding of the student-teachers
developed through various perspective and pedagogic courses.
Enabling the student-teacher to internalize the role of the teacher as
a facilitator of learning, classroom manager, recourse immobilizer,
and innovator.
Student-teacher as an evaluator of learner performance, planner
and organizer of other curricular activities, mentor and counselor for
students.
Service provider for the community and parents, developer and
evaluator of curriculum textbooks and other TLMs, etc.
IMPORTANCE OF INTERNSHIP
Internship program in teachers’ education is very important to
shape trainees into effective teachers of tomorrow. It provides
not only practical training but gives opportunities to the trainees
to take part in both scholastic and non-scholastic activities of
school and grow exponentially.
Internship helps the teachers to choose, design, organise and
conduct their teaching plan and develop strategies for evaluating
student’s learning for feedback into curriculum and pedagogic
practices. It gives the trainees a glimpse into the realities of
classroom management and gives chance to work under
experienced teachers and learn from them.
In short, internship provides practical skills and mental
stimulation of actual work environment in the school which is very
important for any teacher to gain.
Internship is the most important part of any teacher education
program. It gives pupil-teachers hands- on experience to be
acquainted with total school practice including teaching,
evaluation, administration, clerical works, community
involvement, handling student issues, student support services
and the like. By engaging directly with the ambiance of a school
setting through a B.Ed. internship, we are not just getting first-
hand experience under the supervision of individuals who are
already in the teaching profession. We also can foresee what a
career in teaching will be like for us. Whatever we have learned in
theory in classroom sessions during our B.Ed. course comes alive
in the school setting.
We have to keep in mind that we are not mere observers during
a B.Ed. internship. Yes, as part of the internship there are
sessions of observing the class teacher but this is a fraction of
what we will actually do.
What we are benefitting from the internship is an understanding
of, and insight into, the professional setup of both the classroom
and the school. We will learn to convey concepts of a subject in
offbeat ways and overall fine-tune our teaching abilities. On a
personal level, too, we benefit through a B.Ed. internship, as we
gain a great deal of self-confidence and improve our own verbal
and written communication skills, not to mention creativity
coming to the fore in preparing informative charts, making
presentations, and other teaching-learning tools.
A school internship is a compulsory component of a B.Ed. course
and is to be done on a full- time basis during the hours of the
school where we are doing the internship. Not only that, but we
must also fulfil the 90% attendance criterion for it. The activities
related to the internship are also mandatory to be completed and
reports on them to be submitted on time, otherwise, we will be
declared as failed.
Right from Day 1 of our school internship, we must maintain a
Reflective Diary which is a notebook in which we will diligently
note down all that happened each day and our thoughts on them.
Throughout the internship, too, we will also be writing out reports
at the end of each part of the internship. The Diary as well as the
reports will need to be submitted for evaluation .

INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCES OF THE INTERNSHIP TERM
One of the most memorable experiences of the B.Ed. programme is the
internship term and all the people associated with it. The internship
term started from 2nd February 2023 to May 2023 covering a wide
range of activities which have been summarised as under
:
1. The internship experience started with meeting the Principal of
the School. The letter of Internship given by the college was given
before the term of Internship so the Principal was well aware of
all the details of the interns and was welcoming and cooperative
right from the start. She provided us with all the necessary details
of the school.
2. The staff of the school is very cooperative and encouraging.
3. Initially, for the first week, there was no fixed classes for us . The
Vice Principal informed us that the she will provide us with a fixed
routine and we will follow that routine.
4. During February, we were given mostly arrangement Classes
when other teachers were absent.
5. From 08th February onwards, I started taking classes for Science
for Class IX and Class X but mostly for IX since only one class of
Class X was allotted to me.
6. The next days followed by regular classes where I got a grasp over
maintaining control over class and overall classroom
management.
7. It was found that many a times students focus very properly more
intensely when lessons are taught with the help of Teaching aids.
8. Cooperation amongst peers also was something that I learned
during the internship period.
9. I got first-hand experience of maintaining decorum as a teacher,
observation of professional rules and regulations of the school
and also got the opportunity to give duty in examination in the
school.
10. I got various opportunities to participate in various events
held in school like pre- Bihu celebration.
DETAILS ABOUT INTERNSHIP DUTIES
PRAYER AND ASSEMBLY – The morning assembly is an integral part of
every school. We were informed that the general timing of the morning
assembly is from 8.15 AM to 8.30 AM. Assembly is held in assembly
ground where the students stand up and sing prayer ending with the
school pledge
.
SMDC/PTA/STAFF MEETINGS- SMDC is a very important Part of a
school for the management and development. SMDC or School
Management Committee is a body which is entrusted with the
responsibility of managing the affairs of the school and take measures
for developing the school. The SMDC of Vidya Mandir School is a trust
which has been there since the inception of the school
.
TIME TABLE OF THE SCHOOL The school follows a common time table
from the primary to higher secondary section comprising of seven
periods and a lunch break of 40 minutes.
The responsibility of framing and maintenance of the time table is with
the time table Committee’ headed by the Vice Principal of the school.
The first period of the school starts from 9.00 AM to 9.45 AM.
Each period is of 45 minutes and a recess break which is of 40
minutes. Recess starts from 11:05 AM to 11.45 AM.
GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL SYSTEM – It is observed that there is no formal
grievance redressal system for filing and reviewing complaints.
Normally, every academic and disciplinary complaint goes through the
Vice Principal and any administrative complaint goes directly to the
Principal. Whether it’s a student, a teacher or any parent, the same
protocol is maintained.
COMMUNITY FESTIVAL
Pre-Bihu Celebrations-It was celebrated on 12th April 2023, where Bihu
was celebrated in the premises of the school by the students and
teachers by distributing pithas and dancing to bihu folk songs.
OBSERVATION OF PEER TEACHERS MEETING

interesting manner. They are punctual and orderly in conducting their
duties. They make the class interesting and bond quite well in the class
with the students.
ROLE OF PRINCIPAL/HEADMASTER – The Principal of the
school naturally takes the main role in overall activities of the
school including management of the class, management of
discipline, management of the time table, overall administration
of academic and non-academic matters. The Principal also does
the important work of maintaining relationships with the
Government authorities and stakeholders. The announcement of
daily prayer, important event etc are done by the Principal.
NON- SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITY IN SCHOOL

CONCLUSION
The school internship programme was an important element of
the whole B.Ed. programme where I got to experience the
practical aspects of reaching in real classroom and conducting
activities in a school. The experience made me familiar about the
managerial and monitoring system which takes place in a school.
Classroom management is the most important experience of the
internship programme which gave me a glimpse of the reality of
teaching in a classroom, the techniques associated with it and the
risks which come with it. I also got to know how to coordinate my
lesson plans with my classes and how to achieve the target of
finishing a lesson. My fellow interns were a great help in making
this internship experience an overall memorable and pleasant
experience.
