Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
Greetings to all of my dear colleagues
Om Swastiastu, Namo Buddhaya, Salam kebajikan
Dear colleagues, in a matter of time we will be holding the 70th COE-IOA which will
take place in Medan, North Sumatera at the JW Marriott Hotel on June 8th - 10th 2023.
As we enter the transition period of this pandemic, we must remain careful and
cautious in facing every challenges in this free trade era.
As a proficient organization, the IOA will always guard and control every problems
that we face through various kinds of approaches and policies. We hope the IOA will
remain stable, always accommodate its members, and improve to the highest quality.
In this moment, I would like to invite all of my dear colleagues to participate in the 70th
COE-IOA. At this important event I hope that every colleagues around the country
would participate as we can share experiences and helpful tips in the orthopedic field
and for experts from within the country and abroad to give lectures as we can gain
informative knowledge from these experts.
The 70th COE-IOA will be held in Medan, a metropolitan and multicultural city which is
famous for its scrumptious culinary spots, rich with many flavors and its breathtaking
tourist destinations. We really hope all of our colleagues would participate and make
the 70th COE-IOA event a massive success.
On behalf of the IOA central committee, I would like to thank IOA North Sumatera for
their readiness and enthusiasm to become the committee of the 70th COE-IOA event. I
look forward to meeting you soon in Medan.

In this pandemic transition era, we have faced many challenges and have overcame
them successfully. Regardless of all the challenges, physicians need to be lifelong
learners to provide timely, efficient, and state-of-the-art patient care in an
environment where knowledge, technology, and social requirements are rapidly
changing.
For that reason, it is an honor for me to welcome all of my dear colleagues to the 70th
COA-IOA event which will be held in Medan from June 7th to 10th 2023.
In this event there will be lectures from experts within the country and abroad,
symposiums regarding the latest and updated science in handling various orthopedic
cases, workshops, and friendly competitions which will unite us orthopedics.
The 70th COA-IOA will be held in Medan which is the largest city in the Sumatra Island
which is famous for its culinary destinations and tourism.
As the event begins, we humbly welcome all of you to this important event and enjoy
the hospitality.

ABOUT MEDAN
Traveling The Beautiful Medan
Medan, is the capital city of North Sumatra. It is also the largest city in Sumatera Island. Medan is
a multicultural metropolis & a busy trading city bordered by the Strait of Malacca, making it one of
the major economic cities in Indonesia. A gateway to the western part of Indonesia, Medan is
supported by the Port of Belawan and Kualanamu International Airport, connected to the city
centre via toll roads & railways. The population of Medan consists of diverse ethnic groups: Malay,
Java, Batak, Chinese, Aceh, Minangkabau, Tamil, etc. Each ethnic group has its own cultural
patterns & different social structures.
Lake Toba
Danau Toba/Toba Lake is one of the most popular
destinations in Indonesia, located in Medan. It is the
largest volcanic lake in Southeast Asia. Lake Toba has
an area of 1,707 km². It was formed by a gigantic
volcanic eruption 70,000 years ago.
Samosir Island
Pulau Samosir/Samosir Island, is situated in the
huge crater lake of Toba, the heart of Toba Batak
culture. On the east side of the island, the land
rises steeply, climbing to a central plateau that
towers 780 meters above the waters. From this
height one can have a wonderful panoramic view
on this magnificent blue Toba lake.
Berastagi
Berastagi is a lovely touristy town located in Karo
highlands. It is known for its plantations, especially the
Marquisa passion fruit. From Gundaling Hill, a clear
view of Mt. Sibayak & Mt. Sinabung volcanoes can be
seen. A pleasant colonial-style hotel with a golf course
as well as other sophisticated hotels are located here
as many investors developed tourism sites, hotels &
lodges to attract visitor from Medan & elsewhere.
Tangkahan
Tangkahan is a small village on the border of
Gunung Leuser National Park, situated at the
junction of 2 rivers, the Buluh & Batang River.
Tangkahan specialises in eco-tourism activities
like jungle trekking & Elephant trekking. A perfect
place to get off the beaten track, but still have
access to nice food & comfortable bungalows.

CALL FOR PAPER
The 70th COE-IOA Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the call
for paper submission. This competition is great opportunities to allow your
greater participation in 70th COE-IOA. IOA Members, residents – trainees,
general practitioners or any related professionals are welcome to submit &
encouraged to participate in scientific paper submission to disseminate
your research to the public. There will be 2 categories:
1. Final Paper: exclusive for candidate of Indonesian Orthopaedic Board Examination
2. Free Paper for oral or poster presentation, open for any relevant professionals
1. FINAL PAPER
The Final Paper Presentation is designed for Candidate of Indonesian Orthopaedic Board
Examination. Duration of oral presentation is 7 minutes.
Final paper will be reviewed & scored by juries according to BUKU PANDUAN, PENULISAN,
PRESENTASI dan PENILAIAN NASKAH ILMIAH AKHIR. Juries will select 3 winners

The selected free paper for oral presentation will be conducted for 7 minutes in

followed by 2 minutes discussion. The discussion is chaired by the moderator.
5. The poster will be displayed in multimedia screen, the soft copy of Poster (in word and
