CD1118 CD1218 CD1222 TechnicalBulletin 20140924

This technical bulletin discusses firmware upgrades for several printer models: 1. The firmware was upgraded to address issues like "Memory full" errors and abnormal images printing when the paper cassette became empty. 2. For some models, the firmware was upgraded to fix problems like locking up after sleep mode and to support new flash memory devices. 3. For other models, the firmware upgrade addressed an issue where originals on the document plate may not be detected or fed properly from the document plate.

TOPIC:
The operation board (Figure B below) may not detect switching of the cover plate when laying the cover plate

CAUSE:
In case the operation board (B) warps upward toward the direction (X) due to variation of parts and the gap

TB 10 / Change of the torque limiter (paper feed section)

SB-A231/M
Date: 29-07-2010

TOPIC:
Following are changed for procurement ease after the torque limiter (No.2) and the shaft (No.3) at the paper feed
section were changed to prevent the abnormal noise as informed per the Technical Bulletin TB-05.
Accordingly, attention is required when replacing the torque limiter (No.2) at the paper feed section (the paper feed
section of the main machine or PF-420). Please refer to [Field Measure] as below.

CONTENTS OF CHANGE:

External diameter of the torque limiter (No.2) at the paper feed section is changed from 18mm to 14mm. And, the
claw at the internal diameter of the housing of the new torque limiter (No.2) is changed to 4 positions, the color of
the housing is changed from black to white.
Size of the convex section (X in the figure below) at the side of the shaft (No.3) that matches the torque limiter
(No.2) at the paper feed section (the paper feed section of the main machine or PF-420) is reduced by 2mm
because the shape of the torque limiter (No.2) that receives convex section (X) at the shaft (No.3) is changed
according to the above change 1). According to the above change 1), the torque limiter (No.4: It is same as the
torque limiter at the paper feed section before the last change) at the drive section is also changed. (Its claw is 4

TB 13 / DP 420 - Measure against paper jam

COM-B095/M
Date: 19-04-2011

TOPIC:
Rear part of the DP frame guide may be warped by the torque from the DP hinges in high temperature environment and the
level is higher than the original guide plate at the main machine side. Then, leading edge of the original may be caught by
the guide that may cause jam (J7*) or blurred image. - Therefore, following are changed.

CONTENT OF CHANGES:
Following are changed to improve margin for paper conveying.

5 pcs. (5 locations) of FILM PULLEY(No3) are currently affixed at the leading edge of the guide.

(Field measure) FILM BASE SP(No1) are affixed on 5 locations of FILM PULLEY(No3).
(Affixed on the current films)

TB 15 / Firmware Upgrade
2KH-B210/M
Date: 18-07-2011

TOPIC:
The firmware is upgraded as follows.

CONTENTS OF CHANGE:

 Extended after-job aging is implemented.

Lateral black bands may appear at low temperature and low humidity and the after-job aging is changed to extend it by the maintenance
mode in order to clean the drum surface with dirt and foreign objects. (Set by the new mode U166 - Extend Driving Time).
 Corrective measures for the background image appearing at the leading edge.
The background image may appear at the leading edge and so, the paper.
 Corrective measures for the failure of the DP copy just after the power saver mode.
When [Start] key is pressed just after setting multiple sheets of originals smaller than A4/Letter to the DP during the power saver mode,
the DP starts feeding the originals after restarting from the power saver mode. Then, [Restart, press Start key] may appear when the DP
is about to feed the 2nd sheet after recovery from the power saver mode. Therefore, this is corrected.

U166 Extend Drive Time is newly implemented to set the aging time.

2KK-C146r1/M
Date: 17-07-2012

Only  CD 1118 / DC 2118 (Rev.1 - Change of the power source PWB)

TOPIC:
For conforming to the standby and off mode power consumption requirements (Energy related-Products Lot6) in EU
countries, the main power off timer function (Note 1) is added by changing the main switch, main engine PWB and the
neighbouring parts and upgrading the firmware. (Please refer to next page and after for the details.)
Note: It is the new function for turning the main switch off automatically after passing the certain time since the last time of
using the machine.

CONTENT OF CHANGES:
The new product codes are set up for the models conforming to the ErP Lot6 that add the main power off timer function. As
for the models conforming to the ErP Lot6, the distinction label indicating the product code is affixed on the hinge part of the
front cover.

Affixed the distinction label

indicating the product code of the
models conforming to the ErP Lot6.

Operational compatibility table

The operation differs by the combinations of the main machine type distinguished with the 1st to 3rd digits of the serial
number (distinguished by the new firmware), the firmware and hardware (Main engine PWB (No.2, 3), etc.).

1/6
CONTENT OF CHANGES (DETAILS):
1.) Change to the main switch with the reset function.
For reducing the standby power consumption, the main switch is changed to the one (No.1) with the reset function including the
solenoid so that the main switch is automatically turned off after passing the certain time (Default is “1 hour”) since the last time of using
the machine.

2.) Change of the main engine PWB

The drive circuit for the main switch with the reset function is added according to the above change 1.

3.) Upgrade of the firmware

The firmware is upgraded for adding the main power OFF timer function according to the above change 1.

4.) Bundling a leaflet describing the procedures for setting the main power OFF timer function.
The leaflet describing the procedures for setting the main power OFF timer for the models conforming to the ErP Lot6 is bundled in the
main machine.

5.) Change of the right lower cover and right lower frame, disuse of the main switch cover.
Due to expanding the width of the main switch, the width of the right lower cover (No.5) and right lower frame (Not supplied as the
individual parts) is also expanded. And, the main switch cover (No.6) covering the main switch is disused according to this change.

6.) Adding the wire controlling the main switch with the reset function, combining the wires according to that.
WIRE PF (Old No.7) and WIRE CONTAINER (No.8) are combined and the wire (the wire between B and C in the figure in page5)
controlling the new main switch is added. (New No.7).

7.) Change of the power source PWB. (Rev.1)

For avoiding contact with the new main switch (No.1) that conforms to the ErP Lot 6, the pins of the capacitors (C4, C5) mounted on the
power source PWB (No.9) are bent and the capacitors are fixed with adhesive to the side of the neighboring inductor or to the mounted
side of the PWB.

CONTENTS OF UPGRADING THE FIRMWARE-(DIMM):

Conformity to European ErP directive (Lot6).
For conforming to the European ErP directive (Lot6), the main power off function (off mode) is added
Added the System Menu 60.
