Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles [a] from Jerusalem. 14 They
were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each
other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16 but they were kept from recognizing him.
17
He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”
They stood still; their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting
Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”
19
“What things?” he asked.
“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the
people. 20 The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had
hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took
place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body.
They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went
to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”
25
He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the
Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he
explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
28
As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they
urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30
When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes
were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts
burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
33
They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled
together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened
on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

1 Corinthians 12:12-27
12
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all
baptized by[a] one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one
Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15
Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop
being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not
for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the
whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one
of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many
parts, but one body.
21
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the
contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less
honourable we treat with special honour. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while
our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honour to the parts that
lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If
one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.
27
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Matthew 28:16-20
16
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they
worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to
the very end of the age.”
Questions:
‘’And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always,
to the very end of the age.” because the phrase wants to convey is that Jesus is with us all the time, we
just need to serve and praise him as truly our hope.
