I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. recognize the different types of electrical supplies and materials
b. discuss the uses and function of electrical supplies and materials
c. give the importance of knowing the electrical supplies and materials
II. Subject matter
Topic: Electrical Supplies and Materials
Reference: Technology and Livelihood Education Learning module
Materials: Visual aids, actual illustration of the different types of Electrical Supplies and material
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary activities
Checking of the attendance
How are you today?
So are you ready class for our discussion?
B. Motivation
Arrange the jumbled letters on the board to form the correct words.
1. CTWIHS
2. LUGP
3. SUEF
4. TUOTEL
5. REIW
C. Discussion
- Definition and purposes of electrical materials and supplies.
- The most commonly used electrical supplies and materials
1. Convenience Outlet-is a device that acts as a convenient source of electrical energy for current consuming
appliances.
2. Male plug-is a device inserted to a convenience outlet to conduct electrical current.
3. Lamp holder- is a device that holds and protects the lamp and is also called “lamp sockets/ receptacles”.
4. Switch- is a device that connects and disconnects the flow of electric current in a circuit.
5. junction Box- is an octagonal shaped electrical material where the connection or joints wires where being
done.
6. Utility box - is a rectangular shaped metallic or plastic (PVC) material where flush type convenience outlet
and switches are attached. - is a rectangular shaped metallic or plastic (PVC) material where flush type
convenience outlet and switches are attached.
7. Flat cord - is a duplex stranded wire used for temporary wiring installation and commonly used in extension
cord assembly.
8. Fuse/circuit breaker - a circuit protective device that automatically blows and cut the flow of current when
overload or short circuit happens.
9. Connectors - used to attached metallic or non-metallic conduit to the junction or utility boxes.
10. Clamps - electrical materials use to hold and anchor electrical conduits in its proper position.
11. Electrical wire/Conductors
a. Stranded wire - is made of multiple strands joined together to make a single wire.
b. Solid wire - is made of a single strand of copper or aluminum wire.
12. Conduit/Pipe - electrical materials used as the passage of wires for protection and insulation.
D. Application
- Naming the different types of electrical materials and supplies
E. Generalization
What are the different types of electrical supplies and materials?
IV. Evaluation
Let us have an exercise, get ¼ sheet of paper and answer the following questions.
1. It is a device that acts as a convenient source of electrical energy for current consuming appliances.
2. A circuit protective device that automatically blows and cut the current when overload or short circuits happen.
3. Used to attach metallic or non-metallic conduit to the junction box.
4. A device inserted to a convenience outlet to conduct electric current.
5. Electrical materials used to hold and anchor electrical conduits in its proper position.
