Application for the Review of Supply Kits Consultancy
2 March 2015
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am interested in the consultant post for the review of MSF supply kits and I would like to submit my
candidature for your consideration. I come from a global health background with technical expertise in
humanitarian supply logistics and experience with MSF since 2008 both in headquarters and in the field.
I have joined a number of field missions with MSF, working as a logistician and supply coordinator as well
as mentoring others in these roles. MSF kits are familiar to me as I have relied on them in the past for the
quick provision of urgently needed items in both intended an unintended ways. There have been days when I
have waded through stacks of kits that were half-opened a year prior hoping to contain the mayhem in my
stock management tools so I understand some of the challenges as well as the benefits. The kit system was at
its origins an impressive innovation and has eased ordering for start-up projects and rapid scale-up scenarios
alike, yet all good innovations need momentum and regular review to stay relevant. I would enjoy gathering
together the concerns, ideas and needs of colleagues along the spectrum of stakeholders to contribute to
improvements for future iterations of MSF kits.
My project management skills are strong and I have experience designing and implementing evaluations,
most recently performing an Ebola intervention evaluation with Doctors of the World. Familiar with MSF's
international movement and intersectional dynamic from my time at MSF International, I would be
comfortable liaising with multiple stakeholders in English or in French and I am willing to travel.
I believe my knowledge and interest in this area of work would be an asset to your team and I am at your
disposal for any questions. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Whitten
