Transmission lines, on the other hand, are higher voltage lines that are used to
transmit large amounts of power over long distances. These lines can range from 69
kV to over 765 kV and are usually carried on steel towers or concrete poles.
Transmission lines are often used to transmit power from power plants to substations,
where the power is then distributed to individual customers. Because of the higher
voltage used on transmission lines, they are typically used in rural and remote areas
where long distances are involved.
7|Page
Transmission lines, on the other hand, are important for transmitting large amounts of
power over long distances. This is necessary to deliver power from power plants to
substations and distribution systems, which in turn provide electricity to customers.
This is particularly important for remote and rural areas, where it may be difficult or
impractical to generate power locally.

OBJECTIVE:
Installation and Maintenance: Investigate best practices for the installation and
maintenance of distribution and transmission lines. This could include researching the
most effective techniques for installing and repairing lines, as well as identifying the
equipment and tools required for the job.
Safety: Safety is a critical factor in the electrical industry. You could explore safety

environmental regulations and best practices that electrical contractors must adhere to,
as well as identifying ways to minimize the impact of these lines on the environment.
Abstract:
Transient conditions such as switching operations and faults cause the generation of
travelling waves on power transmission lines. Spatial current and voltage distributions
on the transmission line are computed in the time domain using the state-space
technique. The state-space representations of the transmission lines for short- and
open-circuit faults and for various types of terminations are given. The results
obtained by the method are compared with the solutions obtained in the frequency
domain.
Purpose: The literature of the past six decades was considered. Searching, without
time limitations, was carried out in the international databases HSELINE, CISDOC,
and NIOSHTIC, as they appeared on the OSH-ROM CD, produced by Silver Platter
(London, UK). The keywords employed were trauma, shock, injury, fatality, accident,
burn, industry, transmission, supply, delivery, lineman, distribution, line, company,
production, electrician, electrocution, high voltage. They were used in all their
grammar forms and in conjunction with the words electrical, electricity, electric,
power (except for the last three). To complete this search, 369 queries were employed,
which produced 1,262 records. After the elimination of duplicated records, 746
records remained. In the first stage, we divided the type of work activities they
concern into three categories: electric energy industry (production, transmission, and
distribution of electric energy—PTDEE), nonelectric industries (chemical industry,
farming, construction, mining, etc.), and not specified (Figure 1). We selected the 385
records concerning PTDEE and general activities to examine them on the basis of
their abstract. After reviewing all of them and eliminating those referring to the same
facts and cases, 248 records remained. We decided to study them on the basis of the
Over many decades, the electric power industry has evolved from a single low-power
generator serving a small area to highly interconnected networks serving a large
number of countries, or even continents. Nowadays, an electric power system is one
of the largest man-made systems ever created, consisting of an enormous number of
components ranging from small electric appliances to very large turbo-generators.
Running such a large system is a significant challenge. It has necessitated the
resolution of numerous issues by educational and industrial institutions. The main
issues of the power system can be categorized into planning, operation, and control
issues which are analyzed in this chapter, separately. Machine learning, deep learning,
and a variety of regression, classification, and clustering algorithms are all extremely
effective tools for addressing these issues. These procedures can be used to resolve a

variety of power system issues and concerns, including planning, operation, fault
detection and protection, power system analysis and control, and cyber security.
Findings: Through the analysis of the selected studies, it was possible to extract some
limitations and gaps that constitute opportunities to be explored in future research.
These limitations are related to meeting demand, generation from renewable sources,
10 | P a g e
storage and distributed generation. In general, the conditions of use or simulation of
parallel and/or redundant networks are not fully explained in the papers, especially
considering the use of alternative structures such as fiber optic and infrared. Another
issue not addressed is the maintenance and continuity of operation of these smart
structures in the absence of electricity in the main grid. Regarding computational
structures, the specifications of the structure required for the implementation of
systems for the development, analysis, and monitoring of electrical systems are not
described. No are technological issues addressed for data storage using cloud
computing platforms. The studies focused on load control are directly related to
technologies for structure management. These point out in their methodology the use
of SG to solve this problem but do not refer to the connectivity issues among the
computational structures necessary to manage the functioning of operations.

Abstract:
This paper provides a survey of techniques for distribution system state estimation
(DSSE) for electric power distribution systems. State estimation has long roots in the
monitoring and control of electricity transmission systems for several decades, it has
not been widely implemented in distribution grids to date. However, with the recent
drive towards low carbon technology, introduction of distributed generators, more
actively-managed, intelligent power distribution networks and the improvements in
monitoring and communications infrastructure, DSSE has been receiving significant
research interest. DSSE presents a number of unique challenges due to the
characteristics of distribution grids, and many of the well-established methods used in
transmission
Introduction:
Since the initial development of the concept in the early 1970's power system State
Estimation (SE) has become a critical part of the operation and management of
transmission systems worldwide. Until recently, the application of SE at the
distribution level, i.e. Distribution System State Estimation (DSSE), has not been of
significant interest. This is largely because distribution networks have traditionally
been designed and operated as passive systems. where power flows are unidirectional
and relatively easy to predict and manage. However, distribution networks are seeing
increasing penetrations of distributed energy resources, such as small to medium-
sized Distributed Generation (DG), demand responsive loads. electric vehicles and
devices with storage capability.

4.Title: Technology revolution in the inspection of power
transmission lines - A literature review
Author: A. Sriram
Year:2021
Abstract:
There are many issues in power system transmission lines maintenance
one such issue is the identification of exact hotspots. These hotspots lead
to the deterioration of the power system components. If this deterioration
is not addressed then cracks on insulators, spacers dampers braking will
arise, which may lead to the damages in the transmission system. This
damage may lead to power shutdown in the power grid or causality of
humans being and animals. The current scenario of transmission system
maintenance demands an urgent requirement in the identification of
hotspots on the transmission system so that the impact of the damage may
be reduced. In the identification of the deterioration in power
transmission system, there are several types of inspection methods are
available. This paper gives the bibliography survey on research and
development in the field of hotspot identification and deterioration caused
by it in the transmission lines. This paper analysis 51 published papers in
area of hotspot & Impact of deterioration, published in the past 25 years.
Year:2008
