Waste refers to the range of garbage materials from animal and human activities discarded
as unwanted and useless. These wastes are generated from industrial, residential, and
commercial activities in a given area. Waste can be categorized based on material, such as plastic,
paper, glass, metal, and organic waste; however, all can be classified as harmful materials if not
disposed of properly. With our activity design entitled “Kilos Para sa Kalikasan: Daan ng Kalinisan,
Tulong ng Kabataan” is a project that aims to help clean our environment, and spread awareness
of the negative impacts of an unclean environment, and of course, promote the idea of proper
waste disposal in the community. Our activity design aims to make and create sustainable trash
bins with materials such as bamboo to help promote proper waste disposal and lessen the
scattered garbage in the area. This activity design also plans to conduct a short seminar about
proper waste disposal as it is a timely and relevant topic in assuring that residents of the
community are aware of such an idea.
I feel very overwhelmed about making and executing the project as I believe it is no
one-person job, and teamwork is essential for it to be a success. Yes, I do think it is difficult, but
with the right amount of courage, discipline, perseverance, determination, and of course, hard
work, anything is possible. I also believe that the help of your group mates, in which who
encourage you to do good, also helps make the task more manageable as you have people by
your side that can help you in times of difficulty and reassure you whether what you’re doing is
right. Throughout this process, the most touching part is the bond and understanding you can
create with your teammates; as I have said, this is genuinely no one-person job, so working with
your teammates, sharing different ideas, and collaborating with each other to make the project
successful is fulfilling.
The insights I have learned throughout the process of doing this project are very eye-opening
and motivate me to help and take a stand to create change. Improper waste disposal is indeed a
problem that is continuously growing each day because people are unaware, undisciplined, and
uneducated about the overall negative impacts of what this issue can create. With this project, I
learned different factors on why this is continuously happening and why it should be given
attention and action. From the insights I have learned throughout the process of doing this
project, I can be a beacon and make a stand in my community to take proper waste disposal
seriously, as it is a problem that we should combat and solve.
