• Humpback Whales
• Female humpback whales are bigger than the males, they are
between 15-16m long and weigh 30,000kg.
• Each autumn year they travel a minimum of 5,000km each way as
they migrate from Antarctica to the warmer Pacific Ocean. They
return back to Antarctica in the spring.
• Why do they migrate? The water in Antarctica in winter is too cold
for baby humpback whales to survive, so they travel to warmer
waters to have their babies.

Would you prefer to be rich or to be loved by everyone?
Hydrogen
• Hydrogen has no colour,
taste, or smell. Therefore,
humans cannot identify it
without testing equipment.
• It is the lightest element
in the periodic table. Up to
90% of the visible universe
is composed of hydrogen.
Hydrogen is used as rocket
fuel and may well be a future
fuel for vehicles. It doesn’t
produce carbon dioxide like
fossil fuels so could be a
clean energy source,
although it must be used
carefully as it is dangerous.

specific cycle. They may change from one type to another and
back again in practically any order.
