2 Description Current Transformer PCB
The Current transformer measures the current on the 3 phases of an electrical motor and gives the output of
the measured current, by generating an 4 to 20 mA current output and a 0 to 10 voltage output.
Also, 2 alarm outputs are available: phase imbalance and overcurrent. The alarms can be reset with the
reset input.
The delay times of the overcurrent can be adjusted with the potentiometers on the PCB.
2.1 4-20 mA output
The 4-20 mA output is connected on J4-5 and J4-6;
4-20mA RB 56R ≤ RB ≤ 450R
2.2 0-10V output
The 0-10V output is connected on J4-3 and J4-4
Max 80 mA
0-10V
2.3 Alarm characteristic
The adjustment of the time delay of the alarm characteristic is explained in chapter “Adjustment of
overcurrent alarm delay time” of the adjustment procedure.

5 Adjustment procedure
5.1 Adjustment preparation (Factory adjustment)
• Disconnect the current transducers on J1, J2 and J3.
• Connect the plus of a DC voltage source to J1-4 (F1), J2-4 (F2) and J3-4 (F3).
• Connect the minus of the DC voltage source to J1-3, J2-3 and J3-3.
• Turn potentiometer P3 fully CW.
• Turn potentiometer P4 fully CCW.
• Set all switches of SW1 in the OFF position.
Check the system for the type of transducers. For the required transducers, see the table below:
Inominal of electromotor Type of current transducer
100 till 313A 500A
313A till 625A 1000A
625A till 938A 1500A
938A till 1563A 2500A
Table 1: Current transducer selection.
5.2 Adjustment with 4-20 mA output
• Connect a DC current meter to J4-5 and J4-6 in series with the load. If no load present use a 330Ω
resistor in series.
• Apply with the DC voltage source 0Vdc on J1, J2 and J3.
• Adjust the 4mA output with potentiometer P2 (CW to increase, CCW to decrease).
• Apply with the DC voltage source 5Vdc on J1, J2 and J3.
• Adjust the 20mA output with potentiometer P1 (CW to increase, CCW to decrease).
• Repeat step 3 till step 5 until the values are reached.
*NOTE1: With systems delivered before Dec`08 and used with transducers of 1500A, the maximum
level have to be adjusted on a project specified level. For detailed information, contact the
service department.
5.3 Adjustment for 0-10 Volt output
• Connect a DC voltage meter to J4-3 and J4-4.
• Put the DC voltage source on J1, J2 and J3 to maximum (see table in project drawing).
• Adjust the 10 Volt output with potentiometer P4 (CW to increase, CCW to decrease).

5.4 Adjustment of the switching level of over-current alarm
• Set the dip switches in the required position. (see table in project drawing)
• Put a link between J4-11 and J4-12

• Turn on the DC voltage source on J1, J2 and J3 and adjust the voltage to the level where the over-
current alarm is activated. This level should represent 110% of Inominal (see the electrical drawings of
the project for information about Inominal and the required alarm level signal).
• Adjust potentiometer P3 to the point where red current LED turns on and the green turns off.
• Turn the DC voltage source on J1, J2 and J3 to 0V and increase the voltage level slowly, to verify
the level of the over-current alarm.
• Remove the link between J4-11 and J4-12

5.5 Adjustment of over-current ≥110% alarm delay time
• Set the delay time for the over-current alarm with dipswitch SW1 according the following table:
Delay-time SW1-3 SW1-2 SW1-1
(sec)
0 Off Off Off
5 Off Off On
10 Off On Off
20 Off On On
40 On Off Off
60 On Off On
120 On On Off
180 On On On
In case a current is measured more than 1.6 times Inominal, the over-current alarm will come in 2sec.
5.6 Adjustment of Phases alarm
When there is a difference of more than 20% in the current between the 3 phases, the Phases alarm will
come in automatically after 2 sec. LED2 will light and the contact between J4-1 and J4-2 will switch. The
alarm will not be triggered below 0,2 Volt input voltage of the sensors.
5.7 Reset Phases and overload alarm
The phases and overload alarm are not resetting automatically. If this is required, a link has to be placed
between J4-11 and J4-12. If an external reset is required, a normally open contact between J4-11 and J4-12
is needed.
