AQUALAT® Anthracite Filter Media is designed as a solution for drinking water, sewage
treatment, industrial and petrochemical applications. Optimization solutions for filtration
applications often lie in the filter media bed and improving its performance. AQUALAT®
Anthracite manufacturing technology was developed by our associated company ANTR-ACTIVE
LLC under the auspices of leading research centers.
AQUALAT® Anthracite Filter Media ensures safe and continuous operation requiring
minimal maintenance due to its unique hydrodynamic charachteristics pertaining to the medium
of exquisite craftsmanship. It meets all hygienic requirements of European standards (BS (DIN)
EN 12909 particularly) and other international norms such as AWWA B100 which apply rigid
criteria for evaluation of products used for treatment of water intended for human consumption.

AQUALAT® Anthracite Filter Media has found its extensive use in all sectors
where water treatment is needed. It is used for drinking, industrial, process, waste
water and swimming-pool water treatment.
AQUALAT® Anthracite Filter Media is used as filter media in both open and
closed fixed bed filters for:
- removal of suspended solids
- condensate filtration
- protection of coal filters, ion exchangers and RO membranes
- pre-filtration
- filtration of reverse cycles
- water cycles of oil refineries
- filtration of coagulated water
- filtration of turbid well, spring, surface and artesian water
- after-filtration of waste water
- swimming-pool water.

AQUALAT® Anthracite Filter Media offers great advantages over traditional filter
coals of various kinds and of different origin.
Being used in mono and multi-media filtration units, as compared to traditional filter
coal of the same size, AQUALAT® Anthracite has very low uniformity coefficient
which enables to:
- increase efficiency of filter runs
- improve the effluent quality
- lower required backwash rates
- decrease backwash volume
- decrease intermixing
- improve compatibility in dual/multimedia design
- reduce consumption of filter media per period.

key benefits |
- High external porosity of 40-60% pretty
complicated isometric particle shape of AQUALAT® Anthracite
provides far larger surface area and significantly greater void percentage (external
porosity). Hence, entrapping ability within the removal of turbidity, suspended solids (TSS) and
bacteria starting from 5 micron size of contaminants is more efficient.
- Index of solids holding/capture capacity is also times higher as compared to other media.
- AQUALAT® Anthracite provides significantly longer filter run as opposed to sand and other
types of filter coal.
- Excellent backwashing secured by better loosening of the filtration material. That means
greater scouring and effective cleaning of the media within lesser time.
- Optimized bulk density of the media at customers option provides sufficient bed expansion at
half-reduced rates. Unique optimized density allows AQUALAT® Anthracite to be combined
with other filtration media in multi-media filters preventing intermixing.
- High hardness and low grindability enables AQUALAT® Anthracite to be resistant to attrition
and provides years of reliable service.
- Low attrition losses mean that only small quantity is needed to be added annually.
- The class-lowest uniformity coefficient (UC) resulting in an extremely uniform bed also
allows to increase quality of filtrate, reduce water costs, making operation and backwashing
become easy, seemless as well as cost and time effective.
- High carbon rate of AQUALAT® Anthracite of 96%-98% provides chemical resistance of the
product, because carbon is an inert chemically neutral agent which does not react with alkaline
or acid in water.
