OBJECTIVES OF MCH WARD EXPERIENCE

GENERAL OBJECTIVES : By the end of posting in wards at MCH, group will gain in
knowledge and skills in caring for clients with various medical conditions and will also gain
skills in handling the equipment used in the ward.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES : By the end of ward experience, group will be able to,

 Draw the physical setup of ward.


 List the staffing pattern of ward.
 Understand the admission and discharge policies followed in the ward.
 Learn specific protocols followed in the ward.
 Know the different disease conditions which are admitted in the ward.
 Gain skills in assisting during emergency diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
 Learn and gain skill in administering medication by various routes.
 Able to take care of various types of health conditions.
 Identify the various treatment modalities followed in the ward.
 Improve communication skills and maintain effective human relation with patients’
relatives.
 Maintain nurses notes for each patient.
 Maintain intake and output chart and temperature chart according to the need of
patient.
 Provide incidental and planned specific health education to each patient.
 Provide complete physical, spiritual, emotional care and promote the health safety of
patient and family members.
 Identify the biomedical waste management followed in the ward.
 List the records and reports maintained in the ward.
 Gain skills in caring the dying patient.
 Learn skills to recognize the needs of patient and provide the comfort.
