INFO AND TIPS

Ch1 doesn’t count as 1 st.

The shell is worked in a spiral, in continuous rounds, so we will not join in round.
The foot is worked on the wrong side.

If you planned to sew your appliques on a crocheted or knitted support don’t forget to leave a
long tail to sew them on your project. If you planned to sew them on another support weave in
ends and use sewing thread in the same color as the applique.

Colorways in the middle picture above: Orange (30) & Purple rain (70); Rose (44) & Pistachio
(108); Pastel Green (100) & Pink (47)

LITTLE SNAIL

Shell
With color Cool Iris (72) or the color of your choice

Make a magic ring

Round 1: Ch1 (doesn’t count as a st), 6 sc in mr. DO NOT join. (6 sts) Tight the yarn to close
the ring but not too much. With a scrap yarn, mark the first st of the round to be able to find
that st when sewing the swirl.

Round 2: (2 sc in the same st) x 3 times, (2 hdc in the same st) x 3 times. DO NOT join. (12
sts)

Round 3: (1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) x 6. DO NOT join and fasten off. (Image 1) (18 sts)

SWIRL
Cut a strand of yarn color Dark Magenta (48) or the color of your choice, approx 30 cm. With
the right side facing you, sew with little running stitches the swirl as follow:

Hugo Snail - Applique | No. 1205-231-5417 | © Hobbii 2023 | 3

Thread the needle with yarn. Pass through the center of mr, from wrong side to rs, leaving a
tail on ws to weave in ends later. Pass on top of the first marked st and insert the needle in
that st, from rs to ws. (Image 2) *Insert the needle from ws to rs in the next st on your left,
from rs to ws in the next st*. Repeat from * to * as we worked in spiral the form will create
itself following the stitches. You must stop below the last st of Round 3. And then restart the
same process to sew in the opposite direction. Thigh the thread from the magic ring to close
it totally and weave in ends. (Image 3)

Take the shell with ws facing you. Count 4 sts to the right from the last st of round 3, do not
count the last st of Round 3 and attach the yarn in the 4th st of the shell. (Image 4)
Ch3 and work 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook,1 sc in next ch. Work 1 sc in the shell st where
you attached the yarn. Work 1 sc in next 4 sts (image 5), 1 sc around last st from round 3, 2
sc on top of the same st. Work 1 sc in next 2 sts. Ch2, 1 hdc 2nd st from the hook, 1 hdc in
