Formulas for Temperature and Rainfall Sums:

1. Range of Temperature = Maximum temperature - Minimum temperature

2. Mean Annual Temperature = Add Temperature of all the months

3. Annual Rainfall = Add Rainfall of all the months

4. Average Annual Rainfall = Add Rainfall of all the months

5. Hottest Month = The month having maximum temperature

6. Coldest Month = The month having minimum temperature

7. Wettest Month = The month having maximum rainfall

8. Driest Month = The month having minimum rainfall

9. Name the winds that bring rainfall to the place (You will see for)
(i) If maximum rainfall is in October and November
= Retreating monsoon.
Place = Chennai/ Visakhapatnam
Coast = Coromandel Coast
State = Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh

(ii) If maximum rainfall is in December and January


= Westerly Depressions / Western Disturbances
Place = Chandigarh
State = Jammu& Kashmir / Punjab / Haryana

(iii) If the range of temperature is high and maximum rainfall is in


the months from June to September
= South-West Monsoon Winds – Arabian Sea & Bay of Bengal Branch

Place = Delhi/Agra/Lucknow
State = Uttar Pradesh/Bihar/Punjab/Haryana
(enjoys Continental Climate)

(iv) If the range of temperature is low and maximum rainfall is in


the months from June to September
= South-West Monsoon Winds – Arabian Sea Branch
Place = Mumbai/Panaji/Mangalore/Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram/
Chennai/Visakhapatnam
State = Maharashtra/Goa/Karnataka/Kerala/Tamil Nadu/Andhra
Pradesh

10.Punjab & Haryana receives rainfall from:
