Overview of the topic
Project management requires effective
communication since it allows projects to
move forward smoothly and on schedule. It
guarantees that team members are clear on
the objectives of the project and know exactly
what is required of them. Additionally, it
develops trust so that teamwork is improved
from the beginning to the end of a project. [3]

What is Communication?
          In construction project management,
communication is the exchange of ideas
          and opinions between experts engaged
in related or equal tasks. Communication
in project management is normally a
priority for the project manager to make
sure that every professional workers in
the project are aware of the objectives
          and expectations. This increases
          productivity for professionals and
frequently raises the standard of their
          work as well. [3]
The Importance of
Effective Communication
Communication is essential to keep each professional
informed and on concentrate because project teams
frequently include experts with a variety of backgrounds and
skills. As leaders, project managers spend a significant portion
of their time talking with their team to ensure that the project
is successful.
While it is necessary for project managers to prioritize
communication, it is also crucial for other professionals to
make it a priority when working on a project. This can involve
offering clarification when they're unclear about a project
aspect or contributing an idea to speed up the process. [3]
Poor Communication
Communication problems can lead to miscommunications,
confusion, frustration, and redoing work. It might lead to chaos
and bad decisions. Through erroneous communications,
misalignment, and even poor management, these problems
may worsen and have negative consequences on the project
and the organisation.
In the end, if communication issues are not resolved, it may be
too late to undo the harm. According to a research by the
Project Management Institute (PMI), poor communication is
frequently more than simply one of the main reasons why
projects fail. It's the main cause, according to 42% of project
managers. [5]

Effects on Poor Communication
     Creating Confusion
Miscommunications may damage a project by causing uncertainty for all parties involved, including
1) key stakeholders, construction experts, and field personnel. On the job site and in the office,
inconsistent reporting, inadequate reporting, imprecise reporting, and delayed reporting can all result
in errors that cause project delays and cost overruns. [2]
     Unnecessary Delays
In the construction sector, poor communication is a primary cause of project delays. It can manifest
2) itself in a variety of ways, including information flow delays, communication directed towards the
incorrect location or person, and poor communication that results in misunderstanding or incorrect
interpretation. Such as, ordering the wrong material. [2]
     Budget/ Cost Overruns
More than half of all project budget risk, according to the Project Management Institute (PMI), is
3) attributable to poor project communication and time management. Misunderstandings might also
result in improper task execution. When that occurs, modifications may result in both time delays and
     budget overruns. [2]
Overcoming the Challenges

Conclusion and
Recommendation
From the findings, it can conclude that communication is one
of the crucial factors to achieve the objectives of the project.
Every party involved in the project must take part in playing
their role because a two-way communication is the most
affective to be applied in construction industry. In my opinion,
one of the action that can be considered to improve
communication on site is by installing safety signage in
different languages that can help workers to understand
better and achieve a zero-accident project.
