Electric Potential and Capacitance

This document discusses capacitors connected in series and parallel configurations. 1) When capacitors are connected in series, the total capacitance is equal to the reciprocal of the sum of the reciprocals of the individual capacitances. The potential difference across each capacitor is the same. 2) When capacitors are connected in parallel, the total capacitance is equal to the sum of the individual capacitances. The charge on each capacitor is equal but the potential difference can vary across each capacitor. 3) Examples are provided to calculate the equivalent capacitance and other electrical properties for series and parallel capacitor combinations.
