[Box] GE Box access for customers and suppliers

Overview
You shared a file or folder with a third party on Box - e.g. a customer or a supplier. They now need to create an account on
GE Box to access the shared content. Refer to this article also if they already have an account but need to reset their
password.
These procedures are also described in Box-External-Collaborator-User-Guide.pdf (https://geit.service-
now.com/sys_attachment.do?sys_id=81908bd9db1ed4945fed463d139619d1). If necessary, download this document
and share it with the third party. 
 
Prerequisite
The steps below must be performed by the GE collaborator.
Ensure that the non-GE collaborator is included in the list of folder/file collaborators:
1. Open the folder/file to share.
2. Click  > Collaborators.

3. Check that the non-GE collaborator appears in the list:


If not, then share your folder or file as described in Share a folder with a third party (help-and-
support/article?id=GEKB2001897).
If the external collaborator’s status is set to Viewer/Uploader, Editor, etc., then they have successfully
accepted the invitation that was automatically sent to them when you shared the file/folder.

If their status is set to Pending, then they need to accept the invitation. Find below the steps they must
perform to accept the invitation and access the shared content on Box.

The steps below must be performed by the non-GE collaborator.


1. Access the mailbox you use to communicate with the GE collaborator, retrieve the Box email invitation, and then
click Accept Invite in the body of the email.

2. You are redirected to the Create Your Account page on Box. Fill out the form Signup for a Box account to accept
invite.
3. Make sure that the green mention Good appeared next to the Password box, and then click Submit.

4. You are redirected to the Box homepage. Click Log In on the upper right-hand corner of the page, and then log in
with the account you just created.

5. While logging in, you are redirected to the Part of General Electric? page. Click Not a part of General Electric?.

6. Enter your email address, and then click Next.

7. Next to GE Box Folder, click View Terms.

8. Read the Terms, and then click Agree.

You need to agree with the Terms to be able to access the GE Box content.

9. You are redirected to the Box homepage where the GE Box content is listed. Click the folder to access it.

 
Reset your password
The steps below must be performed by the non-GE collaborator if they forgot their password.
1. Go to https://app.box.com/reset (https://app.box.com/reset), and then enter the email address you used to
register to Box as an external collaborator.

2. Click Reset Password.

You receive an email to reset your Box password.

3. Follow the instructions provided in the email to set a new strong password.

You receive another email confirming that your password has been updated.

A Welcome back log in window displays. Log in with your new password.
