Getting ready for work in the morning can be such a hassle! First I have to wake up
because my alarm clock is blaring in my ear. Next, I walk into the bathroom and
brush my teeth. After that I take my shower. Once I am clean, I then start to
prepare my breakfast. TO do that I must start with making my coffee. Then, I grab
my laptop bag and car keys. Lastly, I eat my breakfast on the way to work.

The explosion of social media in the last few years has fundamentally reshaped how
people communicate with one another. In previous generations, much of human
communication happened face-to-face, but now, smart technologies have changed what
it means to communicate with another person. For example, in the past, when you’d
do something as simple as ordering a pizza, you would have to call the restaurant
over the phone, speak to someone on the other line, and when the pizza arrived,
you’d go to the door, greet the delivery person, and then take your pizza. However,
these days, you don’t need to speak to anyone to do this simple task. You can order
a pizza on your phone, type in your credit card, and have someone leave the pizza
on your front porch without ever speaking to them. Because people don’t have to
practice speaking to each other anymore even over the phone, it’s much more common
that people don’t develop the social skills that they used to. Not learning these
skills makes meeting new people in person much more difficult. While technology
makes things much easier, it also makes basic skills like communication much more
hard to master.
