I write in response to your records request to the Office of the Governor, dated June 2,
2023, seeking:

1) Any materials submitted by Ed Augustus Jr. to apply for the position of Housing and
Community Development Secretary, including but not limited to resumes, cover letters,
references, whether in video, audio or written form.

2) Any recordings made during the interview process with Augustus for this role,
including but not limited to audio and video recordings, notes (handwritten or digital), emails
and text messages.

3) Any documents (digital, audio, written, video) that show the names of other candidates
under consideration for the Housing and Community Development Secretary position.

4) Any documents (digital, audio, written, video) that describe the pros and cons or any
evaluation of the merits of each candidate under consideration for the job including Augustus.

By law, records held by the Office of the Governor are not subject to the Massachusetts
public records law. See Lambert v. Executive Director of the Judicial Nominating Council, 425
Mass. 406, 409 (1997). Previous administrations have, as a voluntary practice, considered and
responded to public records requests on a case-by-case basis. Governor Healey intends to follow
the public records law and provide more transparency to the Governor’s Office than ever before.
Public records requests will be evaluated based on the public records law, established
exemptions, and any unique obligations of the Governor’s Office.

Enclosed are documents responsive to the first category of records sought by your
request, with redactions made consistent with exemption (c) of the public records law. This

Dean College ⧫ Franklin, Massachusetts
Reported directly to the Board of Trustees and worked with the President of Dean College. Focused
on external partnerships and relationships with an emphasis on fundraising, business development,
public safety and government, community, and public relations. Established long-term goals, policies
and metrics for the College’s capital and operational budget. Developed a new alumni engagement strategy
including experiential opportunities, reunions and mentoring program.
 Oversaw facility and technology improvements to the College for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year,
including upgrades to student spaces, infrastructure enhancements, audio visual installations for
classrooms and increased cyber security

Worcester's economic development, supported education and youth -centric initiatives, and made
city government more effective and inclusive.
 Developed and implemented annual $750 million budget, a $90 million, 20-year Urban
Revitalization Plan, and other financial reports and recommendations for the City Council
 Oversaw $50 million upgrade of Worcester’s 61 parks
 Spearheaded $240 million landmark redevelopment of Worcester’s Canal District, including
complex negotiation to relocate Boston Red Sox AAA-affiliate to city and construction of multi-use
ballpark, hotel, housing, Kelley Square intersection redesign, and more
 Achieved highest bond rating in Worcester’s history
 Coordinated Emergency Operations Response to weather-related emergencies such as winter
storms, floods, the 2014 tornado, and other emergencies including the COVID-19 pandemic
