Upgrade Expert Operation Guide (Virtual Cluster
Remote Cold Backup System, TaiShan) 1 Before You Start
For details about the version changes induced by the upgrade, see the release notes of the upgraded
version of each product.
If the EOX date of third-party software (such as the browser) you have deployed on your PC is
earlier than that of the product, upgrade the software to a version that spans the product life cycle to
enhance network security.
In this document, site A is specified as the primary site and site B as the secondary site.
Precautio
During the operation, the network communication must be proper.
ns
Before the operation, all customer engineers must log out of the MAE
server and client.
The supported upgrade paths and operating systems are subject to the version displayed
after the evaluation is performed on the pre-upgrade evaluation page.
The product to be upgraded in this document covers MAE and OSMU. This document
uses MAE as an example.
For MAE-Access, to improve the upgrade efficiency and stability, the mediation that has
not been used within one month is uninstalled during the upgrade. A maximum of 40
mediations are uninstalled during each upgrade task. This operation is performed by
default during the cross-R-version, cross-SPC-version, and cross-CP-version upgrade.
Recommended resolution: 1920 x 1080; supported minimum resolution: 1366 x 768
The Chrome browser (Stable Channel version) is recommended for better performance.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to Upgrade Expert. For details, see 12.5 Logging In to Upgrade Expert.
Step 2 Go to the Task Management page, as shown in the following figure.
Upgrade Expert allows you to create upgrade tasks to start the upgrade process. You can either create
one task to upgrade a single product or create multiple tasks to upgrade multiple products at the
same time. If both OSMU and products need to be upgraded, create tasks for OSMU and products at
a time.
The rules for creating a task are as follows:
- Tasks are created by product name.
Multiple product tasks can be created for all products at a time.
It takes about 70 seconds to obtain the information about all tasks of a single product. Do not refresh
the page frequently.
Step 3 Click Create Task. The Create Task page is displayed, as shown in the following figure.
Step 4 Click Get Product Information, confirm the obtained product information, select the
product to be upgraded, and click OK to create an upgrade task.
The task list may contain one or more tasks (OSMU and each managed MAE product correspond to one
task). Each task contains information about all components of the corresponding product (OSMU or
MAE). If both OSMU and MAE need to be upgraded, select both of them.
Step 5 After the task is created, return to the Task Management page. The following figure shows
an example of creating two tasks.
If you need to create upgrade tasks for other OSS products, repeat Step 3 and Step 4.
If not, go to Step 6.
Step 6 Click a created upgrade task to start the upgrade process.
The operation processes of all tasks are similar. The following sections use the operation process of a
task as an example.
When multiple tasks are running concurrently, an upgrade process tab page is displayed for each
task. You can switch among these tab pages.
----End
Context
Pre-upgrade evaluation is to evaluate upgrade-related items and ensure that the upgrade
process is normal. The operations provided in this section must be performed separately at
both the primary and secondary sites.
If OSMU and MAE need to be upgraded, evaluate them separately.
Procedure
Step 1 Go to the Task Management page as prompted.
Step 2 Click the upgrade task to enter the upgrade process, as shown in the following figure.
1. In the Upload the assess tool package area, click and select the evaluation tool
package, evaluation tool signature file (MAE-
TOOL_V100R023C10SPC150_AssessTool_pkg.tar and MAE-

Prerequisites
The PC communicates properly with the MAE server, and the MAE server is running
properly.
You have obtained the IP address and the login user name and password of the MAE
server.
Browser:
You are advised to use Chrome or Firefox of the latest version. Chrome 83.0 or later
(stable channel version) and Firefox 68.6 or later (ESR version) are supported.
Browsers of the latest versions usually contain more security updates and new features,
which helps MAE provide more stable user experience. If you use a browser whose
version is earlier than the recommended version, the product security may be affected,
and certain functions may be abnormal.
The optimal resolution is 1920 x 1080, and the minimum resolution is 1366 x 768.
Cookies have been enabled on the web browser. If Cookies are not enabled, users cannot
log in to the system.
If the EOX date of third-party software (such as the browser) you have deployed on your PC is earlier
than that of the product, upgrade the software to a version that spans the product life cycle to enhance
network security.
Context
If you enter the password for the admin user incorrectly for five consecutive times
within 10 minutes, your client IP address will be locked for 10 minutes.
If three accounts using the same client IP address are locked within 10 minutes, this IP
address will be locked for 30 minutes.
If the login of a client IP address meets the IP address lockout policy set on the Account
Policy page, this client IP address will be locked for 30 minutes by default.
If the login of a local account meets the account lockout conditions specified on the
Account Policy page, this account will be locked for 30 minutes by default.
All users can log in to MAE again after the lockout period expires. Local users can also
contact security administrators to unlock their accounts for login again.
Procedure
Step 1 In the address bar of a web browser on the PC, enter the server URL of the MAE client and
press Enter.
The URL format is https://IP address of the server:31943.
Replace IP address of the server with the actual IP address of the OSS_Service plane of the
MAE master server, for example, https://10.10.10.101:31943.
You can use an IPv6 address to log in to MAE. The IPv6 address needs to be included in
square brackets. The login URL is https://[IPv6 address of the OSS_Service plane of the
MAE master service VM]:31943.
If VNF LCM is independently deployed, use the floating IP address of the OSS_Service
plane of VNF LCM to log in to VNF LCM.
If MAE-Orchestrator is independently deployed, use the floating IP address of the
OSS_Service plane of MAE-Orchestrator to log in to MAE-Orchestrator.
If MAE is upgraded across versions, clear the browser cache before logging in to MAE.
If you want to switch between MAE login accounts, you must manually log out of the current login
account or close the web browser first. Multiple login accounts are not allowed on the same web
browser.
Step 2 On the login page, enter the user name and password, and click Log In.
If you change the password after login, keep the new password secure. If you forget the password for
the admin user, you can restore the initial password by reinstalling the system.
For security purposes, you are advised not to save your password in the browser.
After the initial installation, contact Huawei technical support to obtain and load a formal license file
by referring to iMaster MAE_V100_License_Application Guide.
If the system displays a message indicating that the license is invalid when you log in to MAE, load
a formal license as prompted. Otherwise, MAE cannot be used.
If the login fails due to other causes, rectify the fault as prompted. If the login still fails, contact
Huawei technical support.
----End
Follow-up Procedure
When no operation is required in the MAE system, click in the upper right corner to exit
the MAE system.
Forcibly closing a web browser does not immediately log out of a session. Instead, the session will
automatically log out 30 minutes later. You are advised not to forcibly close the browser.
Procedure
Step 1 Synchronize historical performance result data.
Run the .PmDataExport.sh script to export data from the secondary site and run the
.PmDataImport.sh script to import the data to the primary site.
For details, see the sections PmDataExport and PmDataImport in iMaster MAE Product
Documentation (EulerOS, XXX): References > MAE Command Reference (EulerOS,
XXX) > MAE Commands > Performance Management.
The start time entered for executing the script must be two hours earlier than the time when the
secondary site takes over services. For example, if the start time of the scheduled backup task is
08:00, the start time needs to be set to 06:00. The end time is the time when the upgrade verification
is complete.
It takes about 1 hour to synchronize data generated within one day. If more than one day is required
for the secondary site to take over services, it is recommended that data be synchronized by day. If
more than three days are required for the secondary site to take over services, it is recommended that
data of only three days be synchronized.
