Abstract
The study uses the phenomenological research design. The researchers are
using one-on-one semi structured interview. Participants are consisted of ten
respondents. The study was only limited to Senior High School part-time students at
Canduman National High School located in Canduman, Mandaue City.
After the gathering of data and analysis, the researchers showed major
findings from the study;(1) Part-time students work for financial, vocational and
motivational purposes ;(2) Factors such as poor time management, tardiness, lack of
focus, sleep deprivation and heavy workload affects part time student’s academic
performance;(3) Time management shows positive, negative and situational effects
among part-time students;(4) There is a direct relationship between time
management and academic performance. Time management can cause negative or
positive effects towards part-time student’s academic performance;(5) Setting up
schedule, prioritizing important tasks and internal motivation are essential in
combatting poor time management.
Overall, time management can cause negative and positive effects to the
academic performance of Senior High School part-time students. Furthermore, poor
time management causes detrimental effects to the part-time student’s academic
performance. The researchers have been recommended the following: (1) Teachers
and facilitators should be more considerate and give them a chance to fill up their
lacking outputs; (2) Students should have enough knowledge on how to manage
their time;(3) School and universities should not exploit or deprive them for their
own benefit; (4) Firms, companies and employers should give them time to take a
rest or break;(5) Future researchers should give more accurate data using this study
as a reference.

Review of Related Literature
There are various reasons why senior high school students work part-time.
Pregoner et al. (2020) stated that fiscal assistance, self-development, and self-
motivation are the students' incentives to work part-time. Altogether, the most
common reasons for senior high school students to work part-time are financial and
career reasons. Additionally, Yusanti (2021) concluded on their findings that part-

experience, and monetary funds are the factors that drive students to work part-

with financial aid on helping them to accomplish their desired careers. As a result,
students work hard to maintain or prepare their tuition in schools. Polinar revealed
in their study that students are having difficulties in getting a part-job to support
their finances. Additionally, students work to provide daily basic needs such as food,

Financial factors and experience factors are the major reasons why students
work part time. Students are deprived of the financial support they need, thus
resorting to part-time jobs. The income from part-time jobs is spent on daily needs.
Furthermore, the experiences, skills, and knowledge they get from part-time jobs

Working part-time and going to school are both different tasks done at
