Scavenger Hunt Instructions
This includes scavenger hunt clues as well as instructions how to set up a scavenger hunt.
Clue Based Scavenger Hunts
These types of scavenger hunts are ones where participants follow clues from one place to
another until they eventually end at a surprise or treasure of some sort.
How to Set Up
Print out the clues included in this file, keeping track of the order the cards are in.
Set aside the starting clue then hide the other clues around the house based on where the
preceding clue leads. For instance, if the starting clue leads to the fridge, you would put clue #2
in the fridge.
Hide a surprise of some sort at the very end of the scavenger hunt.
When you're ready, give the participant(s) the starting scavenger hunt and follow them along as
they read, find, and search for clues.
Scavenger Hunts with Larger Groups
Ifyou want to do a clue based scavenger hunt with a small or large group, | recommend a
couple of things to make it more fun for everyone.
Have enough surprises (or one large one for people to split) at the end
Take turns reading clues so it's not just one person leading
¢ Fold or roll up clues before you place them so the first person there can't read it before
everyone else gets there
¢ Wait until the entire group is there before someone takes their turn reading the clue
Let the person reading the clue try to figure it out before someone else solves it - this
really helps if you have younger and older kids
.
If it's a scavenger hunt celebrating a particular person (birthday, graduation, etc.), you may still
want to let them lead the charge and do all the reading/finding.

TESSIMPORTANT - since these are additional clues and not in a specific order, the list below is
where the clues lead to, NOT where you hide them. You need to hide them back a clue (so if
you were starting with the back door clue, you'd give that to whoever is doing the hunt and
hide the bookshelf clue at the back door.
Teens/Adults Hunt Cheat Sheet (go from left to right, top to bottom)
Note - These clues are all based on Christmas songs. If they get stuck and need help, you can let
them phone a friend (aka Google) to get help from the song lyrics!
