Proper delivery should therefore be an important Part of the dealer's program. It is a well-known fact that many complaints have arisen simply because the owner was not shown how to operate and service his new tractor prop- erly. Therefore, enough time should be devoted, at the customer's convenience, to introducing him tohis new tractor and explaining to him how to operate and service it, Using the tractor operator's manual as a guide, be sure that the owner understands the followi points properly: 1. The importance of the safety rules. 2. Operation of contro! levers and instruments, DELIVERY INSPECTION 3, Starting and shutting off the engine. 4. The importance of the tractor break-in period. 5. Use of counterwelghts and proper tire inflation pressure as well as filing of tires with water and calcium chloride, if required. 6. All functions of the hydraulic system. 7. Operating the PTO. 8. The importance of lubrication and periodic ser- vice. Give particular emphasis to sway blocks, rockshaft speed-of-drop, rockshatt selector lever (load and depth controi), transmission oll pressure indicator light, engine oil pressure indicator light (whether temperature or pressure and what to do if lights go on}, alternator indicator light (indicating whether alternator is charging) and operator's cab air filters. These areas are very often misunder- stood. ‘TM4443 (Nov-90)D0 Printed in Germany 10-10-26 Tractors - JDWM Predelivery, Delivery and After-Sales Inspections terest of the purchaser and dealer, an After-Sale inspection should be carried out by the dealer after the first 100 hours of using anew JOHN DEERE tractor. The purpose of this inspection is to make sure that the customer is recelving satisfactory per- formance from his tractor. At the same time, the inspection should reveal whether or not the tractor is being operated, lubricated and serviced prop- erly NOTE: should any mattunction occur during the ‘inspection, then refer to Technical Manual "Engines* or "Operation and Tests”. AFTER-SALES INSPECTION Through this inspection, a needless volume of service work can be eliminated by preventing minor difficulties trom developing into serious problems later on. It will also promote stronger Gealer-customer relations and give the customer an opportunity to ask questions that may have arisen
