Project Synopsis
1. Introduction
⮚ Course Name : Masters in Computer Application (Semester-I)

2. Project Abstract
It is known globally that, in today’s market, it is extremely difficult to start a new
small-scale business and live-through the competition from the well-established and
settled owners. In today’s fast paced time, when everyone is squeezed for time, the
majority of people are finicky when it comes to placing a food order. The customers of
today are not only attracted because placing an order online is very convenient but also
because they have visibility into the items offered, price and extremely simplified
navigation for the order.
The RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM that I am proposing here greatly
simplifies the ordering process for both the customer and the restaurant. System
presents an interactive and up-to-date menu with all available options in an easy to use
manner. Customers can choose one or more items to place an order which will land in
the Cart.
Customers can view all the order details in the cart before checking out. At the
end, the customer gets order confirmation details. Once the order is placed it is entered
in the database and retrieved in pretty much real time. This allows Restaurant
Employees to quickly go through the orders as they are received and process all orders
efficiently and effectively with minimal delays and confusion. This chapter starts with
a high-level overview of the project. It then describes the specific aims and objectives
of the project. Finally, it analyzes the feasibility of the project and provides a
feasibility report of the system.

3. Existing system
As a customer they have to be physically available at the restaurant to order and pick

1
up their food. Many food ordering systems are available in the market but they have
some drawbacks and that affects the business of the restaurant. The traditional food
ordering procedure is not efficient enough for restaurants, as they have to deal with the
crowd in their restaurant.
We all know it’s not easy to run a food restaurant business. It is difficult to reach
the customers. In the existing system all work is done manually. It includes -
● Lack of security of data.
● More man power.
● Time consuming.
● Needs manual calculations.
● Consumes a large volume of work.
● Less accuracy.

4. Proposed system
The aim of the proposed system is to develop a system of improved facilities. Existing
the system is a little bit confusing. It’s become complicated for customers and restaurants
to contact each other. This system will help them to find appropriate places where they can
place food orders and receive the delivery of your food at your doorstep.
Also it will be easy for customers and restaurant owners to keep a record of each of
them. We tailored specific features adding new functionalities. The application has the
purpose to easily enter the items that restaurants provide to the customers so they can
change it according to their preference every day. Customers have multiple options to add
the items from the category like breakfast, lunch, starters, dinner. Cook of the restaurant
has access and gives the update that their food is being prepared, cooked, and delivered.
This system can overcome all the limitations of the existing system. The system provides
proper security and reduces manual work.
● Security of data
● Ensures data accuracy.
● Minimum time required.
● Reduces manual data entry.
● Greater efficiency.
5. Scope of the System
This system is designed to minimize the manual work in maintaining customer

2
records, bill details and all other activities under RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM. Nowadays, the food ordering system is one of the fastest growing systems. It
provides convenience for the customers and has a good user interface. It is a fast, time
saving and reliable system. The system is very simple to design and implement. It is a
User-friendly system. It overcomes the disadvantages of the manual restaurants.
● Cook/Admin Module - Cook section is dedicated to the restaurant for managing
the orders by users and giving them timely updates of their food. Cook will be able
to add items that will be cooked in the restaurant.

Cook have several sub-modules as follows:

1. Add Category: from this option cook can add categories like breakfast, starters,
lunch, dinners, desserts.
2. Add Item: from this option cook can add items to the the categories for i.e. lunch
1-Biryani , 2-Butter Roti
3.View Order: from this option cook can view the orders from the table/user and
gives updates to the user.
4.View Bill: from this option cook can view bills of various users that will be
generated after the order completion.
5.Log Out: cooks can end their session.

● Table/ User Module - Users will be able to book a table and can place an order
with their preference of what they want to eat.

Table have several sub-modules as follow:

1. Place Order: Users can place order with this option.
2. View Order Status: Users are able to see their order status updated by the cook.
3. View Bill: Users can view the bill of their order.
4. Log Out: Users can end their session.

Future Prospects:
● Online payment method to be added.
● Registration system to be added so that we do not need to add login details to the
database manually.
6. Environment:
● Technology : Java (Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 18.9)

● Client Side Technologies : Html,JSP

● Server Side Technologies : JSP
● Data Base Server : MySQL
● Operating System : Microsoft Windows
