ULIMA-UAG Cross-Cultural Video

Synchronic session

OBJECTIVE:

Record a video focused on exploring leadership examples of Mexico, Peru, and a third
country assigned to your team.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Record a 5-10 minute video with the members of your team. Pretend that you are a
national of the country or a professional analyst of the country you were assigned, and
share the details of the local culture, with a particular focus on leadership practices. Your
main aim will be to help and educate foreign leaders to have a better experience in that
mentioned country.

Each inter-institutional team, built by students from ULima and UAG, will have to record a
5–10-minute video focused on understanding different cross-cultural leadership practices
and real-life examples of leaders. This activity aims to identify leadership practices in a
specific cultural group, particularly to compare and contrast different leadership practices
in Mexico, Peru, and a third country (from the cultural clusters shown in the Guidelines
document) assigned by the professors.

Aside from the video, students will have to design a logo for the youtube channel,
pretending it to be a professional consultancy resource for entrepreneurs, researchers,
and professionals. The logo will have to depict at a glance the essence and the purpose of
the channel where the video will be uploaded.

In sections 1 and 2 of the video, you will have to contrast the following issues:

Section 1: Leadership Practices and Business Ethics

- Leadership practices based on the Globe Project leadership cultural dimensions

(except Peru).
- Business ethics practices: Mexico, Peru, and the assigned country

Section 2: Best Practices of Internal and External Stakeholders

In relation to internal stakeholders:

- The impact of internal actors’ communication practices and relationship-building
process, i.e., Investors, board members, managers, and employees on leadership
practices.
In relation to external stakeholders:
- The impact of external actors, i.e., labor unions, government, and society on
leadership practices.

Section 3: Real-life Examples of Leaders

 Provide specific examples of company and state leaders, focusing on idiosyncrasies

and leadership across cultures.
 Explain the role of gender in leadership. Give examples of how gender can
influence the possibility of women having leadership roles and exercising it
successfully or not.

Section 4:
 Conclusions and recommendations should be included.

All the members of the team must take part in the video.

Important Dates:

• Synchronous session #1: 6th and 7th of June. Introduction to the project.
