THE MEDICAL STAFF OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR HOSPITAL.”

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ACTIVE STAFF

1. To follow the rules and regulations of the Department of Surgery such as


1.1 Rules of discipline
1.2 Attendance to at least 50% of the weekly conferences for General Surgery
and once a month sub-specialty conferences for other Specialties
1.3 Admission of at least twelve (12) patients per year, including co-managed
and HMO patients but excluding house cases and patients referred for
consult

2. Must actively participate in the Residency Training such as acting as Preceptor


and giving lectures on assigned topics
3. Must take turn as Consultant on Call for Service cases
4. Must cooperate in all SPC/PSH held or sponsored activities

 PRIVILEGES OF AN ACTIVE STAFF

1. Priority to admit patients


2. Priority in medical offices occupancy
3. Priority in referral for patients without physicians (emergency and House
cases)
4. Allowed to accept in-patient referrals
5. Enjoy hospital discount for personal admissions
6. Be elected to hospital/department positions
7. Be authorized to recommend physicians for admission to Associate Staff

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ASSOCIATE STAFF

1. To follow the rules and regulations of the Department of Surgery such as


1.1 Rules of discipline
1.2 Attendance to at least 30% of the weekly conferences for General Surgery
and once a month sub-specialty conferences for other Specialties
1.3 Admission of at least six (6) patients per year, including co-managed and
HMO patients
1.4 For those who are contemplating/applying for Active Staff, attendance to
at least 50% of the weekly conferences for General Surgery is required

2. Must assist the Active Staff in the Residency Training program


3. Must cooperate in all SPC/PSH held or sponsored activities

 PRIVILEGES OF AN ASSOCIATE STAFF

1. Next priority to admit patients


2. Next priority in medical offices occupancy
3. Enjoy hospital discount for personal admissions

 IN-PATIENT REFERRALS

1. In-patient referrals is from ACTIVE TO ACTIVE STAFF and ASSOCIATE STAFF TO


ACTIVE STAFF

Exceptions are as follows:


a. Patients under an HMO or any form of Health Insurance may be
referred to the respective HMO/Health Insurance accredited
ASSOCIATE STAFF (EXECOM Meeting April 2006)
b. Patient may be referred by the present attending physician to their
original attending physician regardless of the status (Active or
Associate) of the original attending physician
c. An Associate Staff that is known by the patient or a relative of the
patient may be called for referral per patient’s request

2. On the matter of Minimally Invasive procedures, patient can be referred to an


Associate Staff as long as they are Fellows of the Philippine Association of
Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons (PALES) (EXECOM Meeting August
2018)
