Applying for the MS program in Electronics Engineering

For Winter 2018 Intake

After careful research and consideration, I am applying to University of Hochschule Bremen for MS in
Electronics Engineering. Embedded Systems, being my area of interest, perfectly aligns with the
courses offered and the areas in which the Electrical engineering Department is working on.

My career interest in embedded technology started during my early second semester in Under-
graduation degree. I have always believed in a specialization program since I clearly understand the
competitiveness that is required to excel in any given situation. This stringent attitude of mine later has
helped me gain excellent proficiency over many high level compiler based programming languages. I
have participated in many hackathons and reverse engineering projects which has proved my
competitiveness in high level languages like C. Master’s degree was rightly understood by me as I
grew in my career with in an industry which made me realize that Masters can facilitate me to learn
more advanced skills that are necessary in current electronics industry.

In the last eight years of my career, I have come across various projects which has helped me realize
my potential and passion towards embedded technology. Now I believe its time for me to accelerate my
learning through a masters program which could allow me to explore many horizons in embedded
technology. My exposure as in many different companies gave me a wonderful insight into the software
industry. I would like to highlight my experience with Bosch, where I worked on a multimedia project,
in a small team consisting of ten developers. This project was envisaged and conceptualized by Bosch
German Marketing team. The main ideology behind this project was to achieve sensitive and reactive
touch user interface using a 7 inch display. As I was involved in this project since its inception, it gave
me an opportunity to explore an array of technologies and concepts like Embedded Linux and software
security. I was responsible for board bring up on IMX6 platform which required me to configure Linux
as per the board requirements. Configuration and build tools like Buildroot were used to build and
generate linux and u-boot images. Once the hardware was made ready for application development I
worked on GTK framework for creating user interface and logic. I have provided another extension to
this project where I implemented the server on IMX6 which can provide a client access to any other
device where user can control the complete device over intranet. On completion of this assignment I
was appreciated for my efforts and recognized with best technical performer award for the quarter.

My interest in the field of Embedded RTOS was sparked off during my first assignment at Intel
technologies Zephyr Development Program targeting IOT projects and Collective Intelligence. The
Zephyr program introduced me to concepts of Networking Protocols, IOT Protocols, Bluetooth Low
Energy Profile and led to many projects like Home automation, Energy management. I exhibited my
skills through developing robust and fail safe sample applications in Networking & IOT Protocols for
end to end validation and have developed the BLE peripheral sample applications to validate the BLE
stack as a client.

The base of my work at industry was formed by my schooling and undergraduate education. I have
always been good at academics. I topped the grade X examination and awarded for the same in my city.
Since I was always interested in science and its practical applications, I got selected in Electronics and
Communication Engineering stream in Punjab Technical University, one of the premier universities in

India. The 4 years at my bachelors program were life changing for me. Every semester I learned
something new through some interesting courses. In my bachelor year’s, I studied courses on Analog
Electronics, Signals & Systems, Digital Circuits, Microprocessor and Micro-controllers all of which I
found extremely interesting. I also did take up training at “Everest Infocom India Pvt Ltd” at Bangalore
where I gathered immense knowledge about the communication protocols and Embedded systems
designs. During my training period I got a chance to work on a project which required me to gain
control and access of a system using RFID technology.

I believe I have it in me to make a mark in the world of Embedded Technology and intend to make my
contribution not only to the world of System Development. I want to be specialized in one streamline
so that I achieve my final goal to do PHD in the same filed. I strongly believe that this graduate
program will help me to accomplish my goals.
I thank you for the time taken to read my Statement of purpose and I assure you and the department
that I will give my best efforts to remain as a valuable student alumnus and I will prove to be an
example and a good ambassador to prospective students. I welcome you to visit my LinkedIn profile
