Crochet Pattern: Lil’ Baby Unicorn

Are you a Unicorn lover? Perhaps you’ll enjoy making this little cute and cuddly baby. I really
enjoyed making this little one and I’m happy to share it with you! The unique part of this
unicorn is probably the 2 colored mane and tail. Make this special little friend for yourself or

Before we begin, you might want to click “Here” to read the story behind this creation and

Materials:

 Yarn(s) - Pink, Red and Off-White 8ply Acrylic Yarn.


 Crochet Hooks - Size 3.0mm and 5.0mm
 Yarn Needle or Normal Needle
 Red and Pink Tapestry Thread or Yarn
 Fiberfill
 1 pair of 12mm Safety Eyes.
 Fabric Glue.
 Stitch Marker or Safety Pin

Note:

1. This pattern works in continuous rounds (instead of joined rounds).


2. The mane and tail work in Rows.
Abbreviation:

 MR - Magic Ring
 sc - Single Crochet
 dc - Double Crochet
 tc - Triple Crochet/Treble Crochet
 2 sc in next sc - Increase
 dec 1 - Decrease
 Ch - Chain
 Sl St - Slip Stitch
 * * - Repeat Step
 F/O - Fasten Off

Back Legs: (make 2)


Red and Pink Yarn, 3.0mm Hook.

Starting with Red Yarn.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (30)

Rnd 6-10: sc around. (30)

Change color to Pink.

Rnd 11-14: sc around. (30)

Rnd 15: *sc 3, dec 1*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 16-17: sc around. (24)

Rnd 18: *sc 2, dec 1*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 19-20: sc around (18)

Start stuffing with fiberfill.

Rnd 21: *sc 1, dec 1*, repeat around. (12)

Rnd 22-23: sc around. (12)

Add on fiberfill but do not over stuff the top of the legs.

Rnd 24: *dec 1*, repeat around. (6)

Rnd 25: sc around. (6)

F/O, leave a long end and weave it in and out to close up the hole.
Front Legs: (make 2)

Red and Pink Yarn, 3.0mm Hook.

Starting with Red Yarn.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 5-10: sc around. (24)

Change color to Pink.

Rnd 11-17: sc around. (24)

Rnd 18: *sc 2, dec 1*, repeat around. (18)

Start stuffing with fiberfill.

Add on fiberfill but do not over stuff the top of the legs.

White and Pink Yarn, 3.0mm Hook.

Starting with Off-White Yarn.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 7: *sc 5, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (42)

Rnd 8-14: sc around. (42)

Change color to Pink.

Rnd 15-16: sc around. (42)

Rnd 17: *dec 1, sc 5*, repeat around. (36)

Rnd 18: *dec 1, sc 4*, repeat around. (30)

Attach the safety eyes slightly above the off-white yarn. (refer to picture above)

Start stuffing with fiberfill.

Rnd 23: *dec 1, sc 3*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 24: *dec 1, sc 2*, repeat around. (18)

Add on fiberfill to stuff the entire head.

Rnd 25: *dec 1, sc 1*, repeat around. (12)

Rnd 26: *dec 1*, repeat around. (6)


F/O and leave long end and sew up the hole.

Ears: (make 2)

Pink Yarn and 3.0mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 4 in MR. (4)

Rnd 2: *2 sc in next sc, sc 1*, repeat around. (6)

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc 2*, repeat around. (8)

Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, sc 3*, repeat around. (10)

Rnd 5: *2 sc in next sc, sc 4*, repeat around. (12)

Rnd 6: *2 sc in next sc, sc 5*, repeat around. (14)

Rnd 7: *2 sc in next sc, sc 6*, repeat around. (16)

F/O and leave long end for sewing to the head.

Press flat and do not stuff.

Horn:

Red Yarn and 3.0mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 4 in MR. (4)

Rnd 2: *2 sc in next sc, sc 1*, repeat around. (6)

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc 2*, repeat around. (8)

Rnd 4-8: sc around. (8)

F/O and leave long end to sew to head.

Stuff with fiberfill.


Mane:

Off-White and Red Yarn. 3.0mm and 5.0mm Hook.

i) Using both Off-White and Red Yarn with 5.0mm Hook. (make 1)

ii) Using Red Yarn with 3.0mm Hook. (make 2)

Ch 14. *(sc, dc, tc, dc,sc) on 2nd ch from hook.

Sl St on next ch.* Repeat until last ch.

Note: Should have 7 little shells on each piece.

Tail:

Off-White and Red Yarn and 5.0mm Hook.

Ch 8. *(sc, dc, tc, dc,sc) on 2nd ch from hook.

Sl St on next ch.* Repeat until last ch.

Note: Should have 4 little shells.

Assembling: (Refer to picture)

 Sew on the ears and horn to unicorn’s head using pink/red tapestry thread or yarn.
 Using red tapestry thread, sew 2 ‘X’ nostrils on the off-white part of the head.
 Sew both front and back legs onto unicorn’s body using pink tapestry thread or yarn.
 Sew the head to the body using pink tapestry thread or yarn.
 Using red tapestry thread, sew the mane together. (Left: Red mane, Center: Off-White & Red
mane, Right: Red mane). Sew it to the back of the unicorn’s head and body. Remember to
place it nicely before sewing.
 Fold the tail in half so 2 shells are overlapping one another and sew the tail onto the bottom
back of the body.

And Congratulations, you’ve completed your Lil’ Baby Unicorn!
