Welcome to Belkin Hi-Speed Connectivity!

Thank you for purchasing the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Notebook Card (the
Notebook Card).
Now you can upgrade your computer to the latest USB technology. You will be
able to take advantage of a host of new Hi-Speed USB 2.0 products!

Connecting your USB 2.0 devices to your computer through the newest USB
interface, Hi-Speed USB 2.0, allows them to work faster than ever. Use the EN
Notebook Card to plug in your hard drives, scanners, printers, video cameras,
and more. Your current or previous-version USB devices will continue to
work as they always have, and in some cases, even better. Follow the simple
installation instructions in this manual to get your Notebook Card up and
working—then enjoy the speed and convenience of Belkin!

operating system.

Note: The included power supply is not needed for bus-powered USB devices
such as USB keyboards that do not include a built-in USB hub, mice, or self-
powered USB devices such as certain hard drives, printers, etc. Bus-powered
devices that draw large amounts of power directly from the USB bus such as
webcams, keyboards with built-in USB hubs, and certain scanners may require
the use of the power supply.

Installation Procedure for Windows 98 SE

This installation procedure will install two USB 1.1 OHCI controllers, one USB
2.0 EHCI host controller, and the associated USB root hubs.

Note: Do not insert the Notebook Card into your computer until instructed to
do so.

1. Insert the F5U222 installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. After a few
moments, the main menu should automatically appear. EN
2. Select “Install USB 2.0 Driver”.
3. The setup utility will now install a CardBus eject utility for your USB 2.0
CardBus adapter. Make note of the information provided regarding the eject
utility, then click “Next” to continue.
4. After the driver is installed, select “Yes, I want to restart my computer
now.” Click “Close”.
5. After Windows restarts, locate your laptop computer’s CardBus slot.
6. Insert the Notebook Card into the slot. Apply pressure as needed until it is
fully seated.
7. After inserting the Notebook Card, Windows will detect the “NEC USB Open
Host Controller” and the “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box will open.
Click “Next”.
8. Select “Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)” and
click “Next”.
9. Uncheck all the boxes and click “Next”. Windows will locate the drivers for
“NEC USB Open Host Controller”. Click “Next”. (At this point Windows may
prompt you to insert your Windows installation CD. If so, insert the CD into
the CD-ROM drive and continue the installation procedure.)

10. Installation of the “NEC USB Open Host Controller” is now complete. Click
“Finish”.
11. The “Add New Hardware” wizard will repeat the installation process for
the second OHCI host controller.
12. Repeat steps 7-10.
13. Windows will now detect “Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller”.
Click “Next”.
14. Windows will locate the required drivers and complete installation of the
EN “Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller” and “USB 2.0 Root Hub
Device”.

Installation of the Notebook Card is now complete.

Verifying Proper Installation (Windows 98 SE)

Check the “Windows Device Manager” to confirm that your Notebook Card
has been properly installed.

1. Right-click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”.

2. Select the “Device Manager” tab.
3. After installation of the Belkin USB 2.0 driver you will notice that an
additional “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” heading has been added to the
device list. EN
a) Click the plus sign (+) next to the original “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers” heading. You will find that two “NEC USB Open Host
Controller” entries and two “USB Root Hub” entries have been added to
the list of devices.
b) Click the plus sign (+) next to the new “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”
heading. You will find one entry for “Belkin USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Host
Controller” and one entry for “USB 2.0 Root Hub Device”.

Note: If your computer features built-in USB ports, or if you have other USB
PCI controller cards installed, you will see additional USB controller and root
hub entries in the Device Manager list.

Installation Procedure for Windows Me

This installation procedure will install two USB 1.1 OHCI controllers, one USB
2.0 EHCI host controller, and the associated USB root hubs.

Note: Do not insert the Notebook Card into your computer until instructed to
do so.

EN 1. Insert the F5U222 installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. After a few
moments the main menu will automatically start.
2. Select “Install USB 2.0 Driver”.
3. The setup utility will now install a CardBus eject utility for your USB 2.0
CardBus adapter. Take note of the information provided regarding the eject
utility, then click “Next” to continue.
4. After the driver is installed, select “Yes, I want to restart my computer
now.” Click “Close”.

7. After the Notebook Card is inserted, Windows will detect “NEC USB Open

The required driver support will be automatically installed. No user input is
required.
8. After installation of the USB host controllers, the Windows OS will detect
“USB Root Hub” and automatically install the required driver support. This
step will repeat once again.
9. Restart your computer to complete the installation procedure.

After installation, check the Windows Device Manager to confirm that the
Notebook Card has been properly installed.

1. Right-click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”.

2. Select the “Device Manager” tab.
3. After installation of the Belkin USB 2.0 driver, you will notice that an
additional “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” heading has been added to the
device list. EN
a) Click the plus sign (+) next to the original “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers” heading. You will find that two “NEC USB Open Host
Controller (E13+)” entries and two “USB Root Hub” entries have been
added to the list of devices.

Installation Procedure for Windows 2000

This installation procedure will install two USB 1.1 OHCI controllers and one
USB 2.0 EHCI host controller.

Important Note: There are two methods of installing the required USB 2.0
drivers in Windows 2000.

EN 1. If you have an Internet connection:

Windows 2000 will allow you to link to the Windows update website and
download the most recent version of the Microsoft USB 2.0 support driver.
Please proceed to the “Installing the Microsoft Driver” section.

2. If you do not have an Internet connection:

USB 2.0 drivers will be installed from the Belkin Driver Installation CD.
Please proceed to the “Installing the Belkin Driver” section.

Installing the Microsoft Driver

1. Locate your computer’s CardBus slot.

2. Insert the Notebook Card into the slot. Apply pressure as needed until the
Card is fully seated.
3. Turn on your computer.
4. After Windows has finished loading, the installation process will begin.

Note: Do not plug any devices into the Notebook Card until driver installation is
completely finished.

Note: Depending on the speed of your computer, it may take up to 30-60

seconds for the Notebook Card to be detected.

5. Windows will now search for drivers for the “Universal Serial Bus
Controller” and the “New Hardware Wizard” will start.
Click “Next”.
6. Select “Search for suitable driver for my device (Recommended)”. Click
“Next”.
7. Select “Microsoft Windows Update”. Click “Next”. EN
Note: If the “Microsoft Windows Update” option is not available, double-check
your connection to the Internet. If you are having problems connecting to the
Internet, proceed to the “Installing the Belkin Driver” section.

8. The driver for “Universal Serial Bus Controller” will be located. Click
“Next”.
9. The driver for “Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller” will now be
installed. Click “Finish”.

The Installation procedure is now complete.

Verifying Proper Installation (Microsoft Driver)

After installation, check the Device Manager to confirm that the Notebook
Card has been properly installed.

1. Right-click the “My Computer” icon.

2. Select “Properties”.
3. Select the “Hardware” tab and click on the “Device Manager” button.
4. Click the plus sign (+) next to “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”.

The “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” list will now include two “NEC USB
Open Host Controller” entries, two additional USB “Root Hub” entries, one
“Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller” entry, and one “USB 2.0 Root
Hub Device” entry.

Note: If your computer features built-in USB ports, or if you have other USB
PCI controller cards installed, you will see additional USB controller and root
hub entries in the Device Manager list.

Note: Do not insert the Notebook Card into your computer until instructed to
do so.

1. Insert the F5U222 installation CD into your CD-ROM drive.

3. After the driver is installed, select “Yes, I want to restart my computer
now.” Click “Close”.
4. After Windows restarts, locate your laptop computer’s CardBus slot.
5. Insert the Notebook Card into the slot. Apply pressure as needed until it is
fully seated.

Installation Procedure for Windows 2000

Note: Do not plug any devices into the Notebook Card until driver installation is
completely finished.

Note: Depending on the speed of your computer, it may take up to 30-60

seconds for the Notebook Card to be detected.

6. After the Notebook Card is inserted, all required drivers will be EN

automatically installed. After the installation is complete, you may be
prompted to click “Finish” and to restart your computer.

Verifying Proper Installation (Belkin Driver)

After installation is complete, check the Windows Device Manager to confirm
that all components of the Notebook Card have been properly installed.

1. Right-click on the “My Computer” icon.

2. Select “Properties”.
3. Select the “Hardware” tab and click on the “Device Manager” button.

4. After installation of the Belkin USB 2.0 driver, you will notice that a second
“Universal Serial Bus Controllers” heading has been added to the device
list.
a) Click the plus sign (+) next to the original “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers” heading. You will find that two “NEC USB Open Host
Controller” entries and two “USB Root Hub” entries have been added to
the list of devices.
b) Click the plus sign (+) next to the new “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”

Installation Procedure for Windows XP

Important Note: If you have already upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 1,

support for your Notebook Card is already installed on your computer. If you
have not upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 1, or if you wish to use the
Belkin driver, proceed to the “Installing Belkin Driver” section.

Using the Windows XP Service Pack 1 Driver

This installation procedure will install two USB 1.1 OHCI controllers and one EN
USB 2.0 EHCI host controller.

1. Locate your computer’s CardBus slot.

2. Insert the Notebook Card into the slot. Apply pressure as needed until the
Card is fully seated.
3. Turn on your computer.
4. When Windows restarts, the Notebook Card will be detected and drivers
for the two USB OHCI host controllers and the EHCI host controller will be
automatically installed. Installation is now complete.

Verifying Proper Installation (Microsoft Driver)

After installation, check the Device Manager to confirm that the Notebook
Card has been properly installed.

1. Right-click on “My Computer”.

2. Select “Properties”.
3. Select the “Hardware” tab and click on the “Device Manager” button.
4. Click the plus sign (+) next to “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”

Procédure d’installation sous Windows 98 SE

Cette procédure permet d’installer deux contrôleurs OHCI USB 1.1, un
contrôleur d’hôte EHCI USB 2.0 et le hub racine USB approprié.

Remarque : N’insérez pas la carte pour ordinateur portable dans votre

ordinateur tant que vous n’avez pas été invité à le faire.

1. Insérez le CD d’installation du F5U222 dans le lecteur de CD-ROM. Le

menu principal apparaît automatiquement après quelques instants.
2. Sélectionnez « Install USB 2.0 Driver [Installer le pilote USB 2.0] ».
3. L’utilitaire de configuration installe maintenant un utilitaire d’éjection FR
CardBus pour votre carte CardBus USB 2.0. Prenez connaissance des
informations relatives à cet utilitaire d’éjection, puis cliquez sur « Next
[Suivant] » pour continuer.
4. Une fois le pilote installé, sélectionnez « No, I will restart my computer
later [Non, je redémarrerai mon ordinateur plus tard] ». Cliquez sur
« Close [Fermer] ».
5. Après le redémarrage de Windows, repérez le logement CardBus de votre
ordinateur.
6. Insérez la carte pour ordinateur portable dans son emplacement. Appuyez
suffisamment afin qu’elle soit bien en place.
7. Après l’insertion de la carte, Windows reconnaît « NEC USB Open Host
Controller ». La boîte de dialogue d’ajout de nouveau matériel apparaît.
Cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ».
8. Sélectionnez l’option « Search for the best driver for your device
[Rechercher le meilleur pilote pour votre périphérique] » (recommandé),
puis cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ».

9. Désélectionnez toutes les cases, puis cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ».

Windows trouve les pilotes correspondant à « NEC USB Open Host
Controller ». Cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ». (Il se peut qu’un message
de Windows vous demande le CD d’installation de Windows. Si tel est
le cas, insérez-le dans le lecteur de CD-ROM et continuez la procédure
d’installation.)
10. L’installation de « NEC USB Open Host Controller » est maintenant
terminée. Cliquez sur « Finish [Terminer] ».
11. L’assistant d’ajout de nouveau matériel répète le processus d’installation
pour le deuxième contrôleur d’hôte OHCI.
FR 12. Répétez les étapes 7 à 10.
13. Windows détecte le contrôleur « Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host
Controller ». Cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ».
14. Windows recherche les pilotes requis et termine l’installation du
contrôleur « Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller » et du hub USB
racine « USB 2.0 Root Hub Device ».

L’installation de la carte pour ordinateur portable est maintenant terminée.

Vérification de l’installation (Windows 98 SE)

Ouvrez le Gestionnaire de périphériques de Windows afin de vous assurer que
votre carte pour ordinateur portable a été correctement installée.

1. Cliquez avec le bouton droit de la souris sur le Poste de travail et

sélectionnez Propriétés.
2. Sélectionnez l’onglet Gestionnaire de périphériques.
3. Après l’installation du pilote USB 2.0 Belkin, vous remarquez une entrée
« Universal Serial Bus Controllers » qui s’ajoute à la liste des périphériques.
a) Cliquez sur le signe plus (+) à côté de l’entrée « Universal Serial Bus
controllers » d’origine. Vous y trouverez deux entrées « NEC USB Open FR
Host Controller » et deux entrées « USB Root Hub », ajoutées à la liste
des périphériques.
b) Cliquez sur le signe plus (+) à côté de la nouvelle entrée « Universal
Serial Bus controllers ». Vous y trouverez une entrée « Belkin USB 2.0
Hi-Speed Host Controller » et une entrée « USB 2.0 Root Hub Device ».

Remarque : Si votre ordinateur est équipé de ports USB intégrés ou si

d’autres cartes contrôleur PCI USB sont installées, vous verrez des entrées de
contrôleur USB et de Hub racine supplémentaires dans la liste du Gestionnaire
de périphériques.

8. Après l’installation des contrôleurs d’hôtes USB, Windows détecte USB
Root Hub (Concentrateur USB racine) et installe automatiquement le pilote
de prise en charge requis. Cette opération est effectuée une fois de plus.
9. Redémarrez votre ordinateur pour terminer l’installation.

Une fois l’installation terminée, ouvrez le Gestionnaire de périphériques de
Windows afin de vous assurer que la carte a été correctement installée.

1. Cliquez avec le bouton droit de la souris sur le Poste de travail et

Cette procédure vous guidera lors de l’installation de deux contrôleurs d’hôtes

USB 1.1 OHCI et d’un contrôleur d’hôte USB 2.0 évolué EHCI .

Remarque importante : Il existe deux méthodes d’installation des pilotes USB

2.0 requis sous Windows 2000.

1. Si vous disposez d’une connexion à Internet :

Windows 2000 vous permet de vous connecter au site de mise à jour
FR Windows et de télécharger la version la plus récente du pilote Microsoft
pour la prise en charge de l’USB 2.0. Veuillez passer à la section
« Installation du pilote Microsoft ».

2. Si vous ne possédez pas d’accès à Internet :

les pilotes USB 2.0 seront installés à partir du CD d’installation Belkin.
Veuillez passer à la section « Installation du pilote Belkin ».

Installation du pilote Microsoft

1. Repérez le logement CardBus de votre ordinateur.

2. Insérez la carte pour ordinateur portable dans son emplacement. Appuyez
suffisamment afin qu’elle soit bien en place.
3. Mettez votre ordinateur sous tension..
4. Après le chargement le Windows, le processus d’installation commence.

Remarque : Ne raccordez aucun périphérique à la carte avant que l’installation

du pilote ne soit terminée.

Remarque : Selon la vitesse de votre ordinateur, de 30 à 60 secondes peuvent

être nécessaires pour la détection de la carte.

5. Windows recherche les pilotes pour le « Universal Serial Bus Controller » et

l’assistant d’ajout de nouveau matériel démarre.
Cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ».
6. Sélectionnez l’option « Search for a suitable driver for my device
[Rechercher un pilote approprié pour mon périphérique] » (recommandé).
Cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ».
7. Sélectionnez « Microsoft Windows Update ». Cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] ».

Remarque : Si l’option « Microsoft Windows Update » n’est pas disponible,
vérifiez votre connexion Internet. Si vous éprouvez des problèmes de connexion
à Internet, passez à la section « Installation du pilote Belkin ».

8. Le pilote « Universal Serial Bus Controller » sera recherché. Cliquez sur

« Next [Suivant] ».
9. Le pilote du « Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller » est
maintenant installé. Cliquez sur « Finish [Terminer] ».

L’installation est terminée.

Vérification de l’installation (pilote Microsoft)

Une fois l’installation terminée, ouvrez le Gestionnaire de périphériques afin
de vous assurer que la carte a été correctement installée.

1. Cliquez avec le bouton droit de la souris sur Poste de travail.

3. Sélectionnez l’onglet Matériel, puis cliquez sur le bouton Gestionnaire de

peutqu’un message vous demande de cliquer sur « Finish [Terminer] » et de FR
redémarrer l’ordinateur.

Vérification de l’installation (pilote Belkin)

Après l’installation, ouvrez le Gestionnaire de périphériques de Windows afin
de vous assurer que tous les composants de la carte ont été correctement
installés.

1. Cliquez avec le bouton droit de la souris sur Poste de travail.

2. Sélectionnez Propriétés.

Mit dieser Karte bringen Sie Ihren Computer auf den letzten Stand der USB-

Wenn Sie Ihre USB 2.0-Geräte mit der neuesten USB-Schnittstelle, Hi-Speed
USB 2.0, an Ihren Computer anschließen, arbeiten sie schneller als je zuvor.
Verwenden Sie Ihre Notebook-Karte z. B. mit Ihren Festplatten, Scannern,

Installation unter Windows 98 SE

Mit den folgenden Installationsschritten installieren Sie zwei USB 1.1-OCHI-
Controller, einen USB 2.0-EHCI-Host-Controller und die entsprechenden
USB-Root-Hubs.

Hinweis: Schließen Sie die Notebook-Karte erst an Ihren Computer an, wenn
Sie dazu aufgefordert werden.

1. Legen Sie die F5U222-Installations-CD in Ihr CD-ROM-Laufwerk ein. Nach

einigen Minuten wird automatisch das Hauptmenü angezeigt.
2. Wählen Sie „Install USB 2.0 Driver” (USB 2.0-Treiber installieren).
3. Das Installationsprogramm installiert jetzt ein Dienstprogramm für die
CardBus-Ausgabe für Ihren USB 2.0-CardBus-Adapter. Notieren Sie die
Informationen zum Ausgabedienstprogramm und klicken Sie dann auf DE
„Next” (Weiter), um fortzufahren.
4. Wählen Sie nach der Treiberinstallation die Option „Yes, I want to restart
my computer now” (Ja, der Neustart soll jetzt durchgeführt werden).
Klicken Sie auf „Close “ (Schließen).
5. Suchen Sie nach dem Neustart von Windows den CardBus-Steckplatz Ihres
Notebooks.
6. Stecken Sie die Notebook-Karte in den Steckplatz ein. Der Anschluss (die
Kante der Karte) muss fest im Steckplatz sitzen.
7. Nachdem die Notebook-Karte eingesteckt ist, erkennt Windows den „NEC
USB Open Host Controller”. Das Dialogfeld mit dem Hardware-Assistenten
wird geöffnet. Klicken Sie auf „Next” (Weiter).
8. Wählen Sie die Option „Search for the best driver for your device
(Recommended)” (Nach dem besten Treiber für das Gerät suchen
[Empfohlen]) und klicken Sie auf „Next” (Weiter).

9. Heben Sie die Markierung aller Kontrollkästchen auf und klicken Sie auf
„Next” (Weiter). Windows sucht die Treiber für den „NEC USB Open Host
Controller”. Klicken Sie auf „Next” (Weiter). An dieser Stelle müssen Sie
möglicherweise Ihre Windows-Installations-CD einlegen. Legen Sie in
diesem Fall die CD-ROM in Ihr CD-ROM-Laufwerk und setzen Sie die
Installation fort.
10. Die Installation des NEC USB Open Host Coltrollers ist jetzt
abgeschlossen. Klicken Sie auf „Finish” (Fertig stellen).
11. Der Hardware-Assistent wiederholt den Installationsvorgang für den
zweiten OHCI-Host-Controller.
12. Wiederholen Sie die Schritte 7-10.
13. Windows erkennt den „Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller”.
Klicken Sie auf „Next” (Weiter).
DE 14. Windows sucht die erforderlichen Treiber und schließt die Installation
des „Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller” und „USB 2.0 Root Hub
Device” ab.

Überprüfen der Installation (Windows 98 SE)

Überprüfen Sie im Geräte-Manager von Windows, ob die Notebook-Karte
ordnungsgemäß installiert wurde.

1. Klicken Sie mit der rechten Maustaste auf das Symbol „Arbeitsplatz” und
wählen Sie „Eigenschaften”.
2. Klicken Sie auf die Registerkarte „Geräte-Manager”.
3. Nach der Installation des USB 2.0-Treibers von Belkin wurde der
zusätzliche Eintrag „Universal Serial Bus Controllers” in die Liste eingefügt.
a) Klicken Sie auf das Pluszeichen (+) neben dem Eintrag „Universal Serial
Bus Controllers”. Sie werden feststellen, dass zwei Einträge mit der
Bezeichnung „NEC USB Open Host Controller” und zwei Einträge mit der
Bezeichnung „USB Root Hub” in die Liste eingefügt wurden.
b) Klicken Sie auf das Pluszeichen (+) neben dem neuen Eintrag „Universal DE
Serial Bus Controllers”. Sie finden einen Eintrag für „Belkin USB 2.0
Hi-Speed Host Controller” und einen Eintrag für „USB 2.0 Root Hub
Device”.

automatisch installiert. Benutzereingaben sind nicht erforderlich.
8. Nach der Installation der beiden USB Host-Controller findet Windows den
„USB Root Hub” und installiert automatisch die benötigten Treiber. Dies
wird nochmals wiederholt.

Mit den folgenden Arbeitsschritten installieren Sie zwei USB 1.1-OHCI-

Controller und einen USB 2.0-EHCI-Host-Controller.

Wichtiger Hinweis: Für die Installation der erforderlichen USB 2.0-Treiber

unter Windows 2000 gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten.

1. Bei vorhandenem Internet-Zugang:

Windows 2000 prüft die Aktualisierungs-Website für Windows und lädt die
jeweils aktuelle Version der USB 2.0-Treiber von Microsoft herunter. Bitte
fahren Sie mit dem Abschnitt „Installieren des Microsoft-Treibers” fort.
DE 2. Wenn Sie keinen Internetzugang haben:
Die USB 2.0-Treiber werden von der Treiber-Installations-CD von Belkin
aus installiert. Bitte fahren Sie mit dem Abschnitt „Installieren des Belkin-
Treibers” fort.

Installieren des Microsoft-Treibers

1. Suchen Sie den CardBus-Steckplatz Ihres Computers.

2. Stecken Sie die Notebook-Karte in den Steckplatz ein. Möglicherweise
müssen Sie leichten Druck ausüben, damit sie im Steckplatz einrastet.
3. Schalten Sie Ihren Computer ein.
4. Nachdem Windows hochgefahren ist, beginnt die Installation.

Hinweis: Stecken Sie keine Geräte in die Notebook-Karte, bevor die

Treiberinstallation abgeschlossen ist.

bis die Notebook-Karte erkannt wird.

5. Windows sucht jetzt nach den Treibern für den „Universal Serial Bus
Controller”. Der Hardware-Assistent wird geöffnet.
Klicken Sie auf „Next” (Weiter).
6. Wählen Sie „Search for suitable driver for my device (Recommended)”
(Nach einem passenden Treiber für das Gerät suchen [empfohlen]). Klicken
Sie auf „Next” (Weiter).
7. Wählen Sie „Microsoft Windows Update”. Klicken Sie auf „Next” (Weiter).

Hinweis: Wenn die Option „Microsoft Windows Update” nicht verfügbar

ist, überprüfen Sie Ihre Internetverbindung. Wenn Sie Probleme mit der
Internetverbindung haben, fahren Sie mit dem Abschnitt „Installieren des DE
Belkin-Treibers” fort.

8. Der Treiber für den „Universal Serial Bus Controller” wird gesucht. Klicken
Sie auf „Next” (Weiter).
9. Jetzt wird der Treiber für den „Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host
Controller” installiert. Klicken Sie auf „Finish” (Fertig stellen).

Die Installation ist damit abgeschlossen.

Wichtiger Hinweis: Wenn Sie bereits das Service Pack 1 für Windows XP
installiert haben, wurde die Unterstützung für Ihre Notebook-Karte bereits
auf Ihrem Computer installiert. Wenn Sie das Service Pack 1 für Windows
XP noch nicht installiert haben oder den Belkin-Treiber verwenden möchten,
fahren Sie mit dem Abschnitt „Installieren des Belkin-Treibers” fort.

Verwenden des Treibers aus dem Service Pack 1 für Windows XP

Mit den folgenden Arbeitsschritten installieren Sie zwei USB 1.1-OHCI-
Controller und einen USB 2.0-EHCI-Host-Controller.

1. Suchen Sie den CardBus-Steckplatz Ihres Computers.

2. Stecken Sie die Notebook-Karte in den Steckplatz ein. Möglicherweise DE
müssen Sie leichten Druck ausüben, damit sie im Steckplatz einrastet.
3. Schalten Sie Ihren Computer ein.
4. Beim Neustart erkennt Windows die Notebook-Karte. Die Treiber für die
beiden USB-OHCI-Host-Controller und den EHCI-Host-Controller werden
automatisch installiert. Die Installation ist damit abgeschlossen.

Welkom bij de hi-speed-verbindingen van Belkin!

Wij danken u hartelijk voor het kopen van de hi-speed USB 2.0-notebookkaart
(de notebookkaart) van Belkin.
U kunt uw computer nu upgraden met de nieuwste USB-technologie. Hierdoor
kunt u profiteren van een groot aantal nieuwe hi-speed USB 2.0-producten!

De USB 2.0-apparaten die u aansluit op een computer die gebruik maakt

van Hi-Speed USB 2.0-technologie, zullen sneller dan ooit werken. U kunt
de notebookkaart gebruiken voor het aansluiten van uw harde schijven,
scanners, printers, videocamera’s en meer. Uw huidige USB-apparaten
(USB 1.x of USB 2.0) blijven werken als voorheen en soms zelfs beter.
Volg de eenvoudige installatie-aanwijzingen in deze handleiding op om uw
notebookkaart gebruiksklaar te maken. Vervolgens kunt u profiteren van de

Wij verwijzen u naar het hoofdstuk dat gaat over úw versie van het Windows-
besturingssysteem.

Let op: De meegeleverde voedingsadapter hoeft niet gebruikt te worden bij

NL USB-apparaten met busvoeding, zoals USB-toetsenborden, die niet beschikken
over een ingebouwde USB-hub, USB-muis of zelfvoedende USB-apparaten,
zoals bepaalde harde schijven, printers enz. Bij apparaten met busvoeding
die veel stroom trekken uit de USB-bus, zoals webcams, toetsenborden
met ingebouwde USB-hubs en bepaalde scanners, is het gebruik van de
voedingsadapter mogelijkerwijs wel nodig.

 Installatie

Installatieprocedure voor Windows 98 SE

Met deze installatieprocedure installeert u feilloos twee USB 1.1 OHCI-
controllers, één USB 2.0 EHCI-hostcontroller en de bijbehorende USB root-
hubs.

Let op: Sluit de notebookkaart pas aan op uw computer als u daartoe de

opdracht hebt gekregen.

1. Plaats de installatie-cd voor de hi-speed USB 2.0-notebookkaart

(artikelnummer F5U222) in uw cd-romstation. Na enige ogenblikken
verschijnt het hoofdmenu automatisch.
2. Selecteer “Install USB 2.0 Driver” (Stuurprogramma voor USB 2.0
installeren).
3. De setup-utility zal nu een utility installeren voor het verwijderen van uw
USB 2.0 CardBus-adapter. Lees de getoonde informatie over deze utility en
klik vervolgens op “Next” (Volgende) om verder te gaan. NL
4. Nadat het stuurprogramma is geïnstalleerd, selecteert u “Yes, I want to
restart my computer now.” (Ja, ik wil mijn computer nu herstarten.). Klik
op “Close” (Sluiten).
5. Zoek de CardBus-sleuf van uw laptop op zodra Windows opnieuw is
gestart.
6. Bevestig de notebookkaart in de sleuf. Druk zoveel als nodig is om de kaart
goed te bevestigen.
7. Na de bevestiging van de notebookkaart zal Windows de “NEC USB Open
Host Controller” vinden en zal de wizard “Add New Hardware” (Nieuwe
hardware toevoegen) geopend worden. Klik op “Next” (Volgende).
8. Selecteer “Search for the best driver for your device” (Zoek het beste
stuurprogramma voor uw apparaat op (Aanbevolen)) en klik op “Next”
(Volgende).
9. Verwijder de vinkjes uit alle vakjes en klik op “Next” (Volgende). Windows

zoekt het stuurprogramma voor “NEC USB Open Host Controller” op. Klik
op “Next” (Volgende). (Het kan zijn dat Windows u verzoekt de installatie-
cd voor uw besturingssysteem in het cd-romstation te plaatsen. Doe in dat
geval dan de installatie-cd in het cd-romstation en volg de aanwijzingen op
het scherm.)
10. De installatie van de “NEC USB Open Host Controller” is nu voltooid. Klik
op “Finish” (Voltooien).
11. De wizard “Add New Hardware” (Nieuwe hardware toevoegen) herhaalt de
installatieprocedure voor de tweede OHCI-hostcontroller.
12. Herhaal stap 7-10.
13. Windows zal nu de “Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller” vinden.
Klik op “Next” (Volgende).
14. Windows zoekt de vereiste stuurprogramma’s op en voltooit de installatie
van de “Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller” en een “USB 2.0 Root
Hub Device”.

Correcte installatie controleren (Windows 98 SE)

Controleer “Windows Device Manager” (Windows Apparaatbeheer) om te zien
of uw notebookkaart naar behoren is geïnstalleerd.

1. Klik met uw rechter muisknop op “My Computer” (Deze computer) en

selecteer “Properties” (Eigenschappen).
2. Selecteer het tabblad “Device Manager” (Apparaatbeheer).
3. Zodra u het USB 2.0-stuurprogramma van Belkin hebt geïnstalleerd, kunt
u zien dat er in het overzicht met apparaten een extra vermelding voor de
“Universal Serial Bus Controllers” is opgenomen.
a) Klik op het plusteken (+) naast de originele “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers” vermelding. U zult zien dat er twee vermeldingen voor
“NEC USB Open Host Controller” en twee voor “USB Root Hub” zijn
toegevoegd aan het overzicht met apparaten.
b) Klik op het plusteken (+) naast de originele “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers” vermelding. U zult één vermelding tegenkomen voor “Belkin NL
USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Host Controller” en één vermelding voor “USB 2.0
Root Hub Device”.

Let op: Als uw computer ingebouwde USB-poorten heeft of als er andere USB
PCI-controllerkaarten op uw computer zijn geïnstalleerd, krijgt u meerdere
vermeldingen voor USB-controllers en root-hubs te zien onder “Device
Manager” (Apparaatbeheer).

Installatieprocedure voor Windows Me

Met deze installatieprocedure installeert u feilloos twee USB 1.1 OHCI-

hoeft niets te doen.
8. Na de installatie van de USB-hostcontrollers signaleert het Windows-
besturingssysteem een “USB Root Hub” . Vervolgens wordt automatisch de
vereiste stuurprogrammaondersteuning geïnstalleerd. Deze stap wordt herhaald.
9. Start uw computer opnieuw om de installatieprocedure te voltooien.

Controleren of de installatie correct is verlopen (Windows Me)

Controleer na de installatie in de Windows “Device Manager”
(Apparaatbeheer) of de notebookkaart correct is geïnstalleerd.

1. Klik met uw rechter muisknop op “My Computer” (Deze computer) en

selecteer “Properties” (Eigenschappen).
2. Selecteer het tabblad “Device Manager” (Apparaatbeheer).
3. Zodra u het USB 2.0-stuurprogramma van Belkin hebt geïnstalleerd, kunt
u zien dat er in het overzicht met apparaten een extra vermelding voor de
“Universal Serial Bus Controllers” is opgenomen.
a) Klik op het plusteken (+) naast de originele “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers” vermelding. U zult zien dat er twee vermeldingen voor “NEC
USB Open Host Controller (E13+)” en twee voor “USB Root Hub” zijn
toegevoegd aan het overzicht met apparaten.
b) Klik op het plusteken (+) naast de originele “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers” vermelding. U zult één vermelding tegenkomen voor “Belkin NL
USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Host Controller” en één vermelding voor “USB 2.0
Root Hub Device”.

Let op: Als uw computer ingebouwde USB-poorten heeft of als er andere USB

Installatieprocedure voor Windows 2000

Door deze procedure worden twee USB 1.1 OHCI-controllers en één USB 2.0
EHCI-hostcontroller geïnstalleerd.

Belangrijke opmerking: Er zijn twee methoden voor het installeren van de

vereiste USB 2.0-stuurprogramma’s onder Windows 2000.

1. Als u over een internetaansluiting beschikt:

Als u gebruik maakt van Windows 2000 kunt u via de Windows-
updatewebsite de meest recente versie van de Microsoft USB 2.0-stuurp
rogrammaondersteuning downloaden. Wij verzoeken u verder te gaan bij
“Installatie van het Microsoft-stuurprogramma”.

2. Indien u niet over een internetverbinding beschikt:

NL USB 2.0-stuurprogramma’s vindt u op de installatie-cd van Belkin.. Wij
verzoeken u verder te gaan bij “Installatie van het Belkin-stuurprogramma”.

Installatie van het Microsoft-stuurprogramma

1. Zoek de CardBus-sleuf van uw laptop op.

2. Bevestig de notebookkaart in de sleuf. Druk zoveel als nodig is om de kaart
goed vast te zetten.
3. Zet uw computer aan.
4. Als Windows volledig geladen is, zal de installatie beginnen.

Let op: U dient uw notebookkaart pas aan te sluiten als het stuurprogramma
volledig is geïnstalleerd.

Let op: Afhankelijk van de snelheid van uw computer kan het 30-60 seconden
duren voordat de notebookkaart wordt herkend.

5. Windows zal nu de stuurprogramma’s voor de “Universal Serial Bus

Controller” opzoeken en de “New Hardware Wizard” zal starten.
Klik op “Next” (Volgende).
6. Selecteer “Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)” (Een
geschikt stuurprogramma voor mijn apparaat opzoeken (Aanbevolen)). Klik
op “Next” (Volgende).
7. Selecteer “Microsoft Windows Update”. Klik op “Next” (Volgende).

Let op: Indien de optie “Microsoft Windows Update” niet beschikbaar is,
controleer dan uw verbinding met Internet. Indien u problemen ondervindt bij
het tot stand brengen van een verbinding met het Internet, ga dan verder onder
“Installatie van het Belkin-stuurprogramma”.

8. Het stuurprogramma voor de “Universal Serial Bus Controller” zal worden
gevonden. Klik op “Next” (Volgende).
9. Het stuurprogramma voor de “Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host
Controller” wordt nu geïnstalleerd. Klik op “Finish” (Voltooien).

De installatieprocedure is nu voltooid.

Controleren of de installatie correct is verlopen (Microsoft-stuurprogramma)

Controleer na de installatie in de “Device Manager” (Apparaatbeheer) of de
notebookkaart correct is geïnstalleerd.

1. Klik met uw rechter muisknop op het pictogram “My Computer” (Deze

computer).

2. Selecteer “Properties” (Eigenschappen).

3. Selecteer het tabblad “Hardware” en klik op de knop “Device Manager’“
(Apparaatbeheer).
4. Klik op het plusteken (+) naast “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”.
De lijst met “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” bevat nu twee vermeldingen
voor “NEC USB Open Host Controller”, twee extra vermeldingen voor “USB
Root Hub”, één vermelding voor “Standard Universal PCI to USB Host
Controller” en één voor “USB 2.0 Root Hub Device”.

Let op: Als uw computer ingebouwde USB-poorten heeft of als er andere USB
PCI-controllerkaarten op uw computer zijn geïnstalleerd, krijgt u meerdere
vermeldingen voor USB-controllers en root-hubs te zien onder “Device
Manager” (Apparaatbeheer).

Installatie van het Belkin-stuurprogramma

duren voordat de notebookkaart wordt herkend.

6. Nadat u de notebookkaart hebt geplaatst, zullen de vereiste

stuurprogramma’s automatisch worden geïnstalleerd. Als de installatie is
voltooid, kunt u het verzoek krijgen op “Finish” (Voltooien) te klikken en de
computer opnieuw te starten.

Controleren of de installatie correct is verlopen (Belkin-stuurprogramma)

Controleer na de installatie in de Windows “Device Manager”

Controllers” vermelding. U zult één vermelding tegenkomen voor “Belkin

Installatieprocedure voor Windows XP

Belangrijke opmerking: Indien u uw systeem al hebt geüpgraded naar XP

Service Pack 1, dan ondersteunt uw computer de notebookkaart al. Indien
u dit nog niet hebt gedaan of als u het Belkin-stuurprogramma wenst te
gebruiken, ga dan verder onder “Installatie van het Belkin-stuurprogramma.

Gebruik maken van het Windows XP Service Pack 1 stuurprogramma.

Door deze procedure worden twee USB 1.1 OHCI-controllers en één USB 2.0
EHCI-hostcontroller geïnstalleerd.

1. Zoek de CardBus-sleuf van uw laptop op.

2. Bevestig de notebookkaart in de sleuf. Druk zoveel als nodig is om de kaart
goed vast te zetten.
3. Zet uw computer aan.
4. Wanneer Windows opnieuw start, wordt de notebookkaart herkend NL
en worden de stuurprogramma’s voor zowel de twee USB OHCI-
hostcontrollers en de EHCI-hostcontroller automatisch geïnstalleerd. De
installatie is nu voltooid.

Controleren of de installatie correct is verlopen (Microsoft-

stuurprogramma)
Controleer na de installatie in de “Device Manager” (Apparaatbeheer) of de
notebookkaart correct is geïnstalleerd.

1. Klik met uw rechter muisknop op “My Computer” (Deze computer).

2. Selecteer “Properties” (Eigenschappen).
3. Selecteer het tabblad “Hardware” en klik op de knop “Device Manager’“
(Apparaatbeheer).
4. Klik op het plusteken (+) naast “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”.

De lijst met “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” bevat nu twee vermeldingen

voor “NEC USB Open Host Controller”, twee extra vermeldingen voor “USB
Root Hub”, één vermelding voor “Standard Universal PCI to USB Host
Controller” en één voor “USB 2.0 Root Hub Device”.

Installatie van het Belkin-stuurprogramma

Let op: Sluit de notebookkaart pas aan op uw computer als u daartoe de

opdracht hebt gekregen.

NL 1. Plaats de installatie-cd voor de hi-speed USB 2.0-notebookkaart

(artikelnummer F5U222) in uw cd-romstation. Na enige ogenblikken start
het hoofdmenu automatisch.
2. Selecteer “Install USB 2.0 Driver” (Stuurprogramma voor USB 2.0
installeren).
3. Nadat het stuurprogramma is geïnstalleerd, selecteert u “Yes, I want to
restart my computer now.” (Ja, ik wil mijn computer nu herstarten.). Klik
op “Close” (Sluiten).
4. Zoek de CardBus-sleuf van uw laptop op zodra Windows opnieuw is
gestart.
5. Bevestig de notebookkaart in de sleuf. Druk zoveel als nodig is om de kaart
goed te bevestigen.

Let op: U dient uw notebookkaart pas aan te sluiten als het stuurprogramma
volledig is geïnstalleerd.

Let op: Afhankelijk van de snelheid van uw computer kan het 30-60 seconden
duren voordat de notebookkaart wordt herkend.

6. Windows zal nu de stuurprogramma’s voor de “Belkin USB 2.0 Hi-Speed

Host Controller” vinden.
7. De installatie van de “Belkin USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Host Controller” zal nu
worden voltooid.
8. Windows herkent nu het “USB 2.0 Root Hub Device”
9. Windows vindt nu de stuurprogramma’s voor het “USB 2.0 Root Hub
Device”.
10. De installatie van het “USB 2.0 Root Hub Device” zal nu worden voltooid.

De installatieprocedure is nu voltooid.

Controleren of de installatie correct is verlopen (Belkin-stuurprogramma)

“NEC USB Open Host Controller” en twee voor “USB Root Hub” zijn
toegevoegd aan het overzicht met apparaten.

 Instalación

Procedimiento de instalación para Windows 98 SE

El procedimiento de instalación instalará dos controladores USB 1.1 para
OHCI, un controlador de host USB 2.0 para EHCI y los concentradores raíz de
USB asociados.

Nota: No inserte la Tarjeta para portátil en su ordenador hasta que no se le

solicite que lo haga.

1. Inserte el CD de instalación F5U222 en su unidad de CD-ROM. Tras unos

segundos deberá aparecer automáticamente el menú principal.
2. Seleccione “Install USB 2.0 Driver” (Instalar controlador USB 2.0).
3. La utilidad de instalación instalará ahora una utilidad de extracción de
CardBus para su adaptador USB 2.0 para CardBus. Tenga en cuenta la
información suministrada referente a la utilidad de extracción, después
haga clic en “Next” (Siguiente) para continuar.
4. Una vez instalado el controlador, seleccione “Yes, I want to restart my
computer now” (Sí, deseo reiniciar mi ordenador ahora). Haga clic en
“Close” (Cerrar).
5. Después de que Windows se haya reiniciado, localice la ranura CardBus de

su ordenador portátil.
6. Inserte la Tarjeta para portátil en la ranura. Aplique la presión suficiente
para asegurar que esté bien colocada.
7. Después de insertar la Tarjeta para portátil, Windows detectará el “NEC
USB Open Host Controller” (Controlador de host abierto USB de NEC) y

8. Seleccione “Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)”

10. La instalación del “NEC USB Open Host Controller” (Controlador de host
abierto USB de NEC) ha sido completada. Haga clic en “Finish” (Finalizar).
11. El Asistente de “Add New Hardware” (Agregar nuevo hardware) repetirá el
proceso de instalación para el segundo controlador de host para OHCI.
12. Repita los pasos 7-10.
13. Windows detectará ahora el “Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller”
(Controlador de host USB 2.0 de alta velocidad de Belkin). Haga clic en
“Next” (Siguiente).
14. Windows encontrará los controladores precisos y completará la
instalación del “Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller” (Controlador

Verificar la instalación correcta (sistema operativo

Windows 98 SE)
Consulte el “Windows Device Manager” (Administrador de dispositivos
de Windows) para confirmar que la Tarjeta para portátil ha sido instalada
correctamente.

1. Haga clic con el botón derecho del ratón sobre “Mi PC” y seleccione
“Propiedades”.
2. Seleccione la pestaña del “Administrador de dispositivos”.
3. Tras la instalación del controlador para USB 2.0 de Belkin, podrá apreciar
que se ha añadido a la lista de dispositivos un nuevo encabezamiento de
“Universal Serial Bus Controllers” (Controladores USB).
a) Haga clic en el signo de más (+) situado junto al primer encabezamiento
“Universal Serial Bus Controllers” (Controladores USB). Verá que se ha
añadido a la lista de dispositivos dos entradas “NEC USB Open Host
Controller” (Controlador de host abierto USB de NEC) y dos entradas
“USB Root Hub” (Concentrador raíz USB).
b) Haga clic en el signo de más (+) situado junto al nuevo encabezamiento ES
“Universal Serial Bus Controllers” (Controladores USB). Aparecerá una
entrada para “Belkin USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Host Controller” (Controlador de
host USB 2.0 de alta velocidad de Belkin) y una entrada para “USB 2.0

Nota: Si su ordenador dispone de puertos USB incorporados o si tiene

instaladas otras tarjetas de controlador PCI USB, podrá ver otras entradas
adicionales de Controlador USB y de concentrador raíz en la lista del
Administrador de dispositivos.

automáticamente. No se requiere ninguna acción por parte del usuario.
8. Tras la instalación de los controladores de host USB, el sistema operativo
Windows detectará el “USB Root Hub” (Concentrador raíz USB) e instalará
automáticamente el controlador necesario. Este paso se repetirá una vez más.
9. Reinicie el ordenador para completar el procedimiento de instalación.

Verificación de la instalación (Windows Me)

Tras la instalación, consulte el Administrador de dispositivos de Windows para
confirmar que la Tarjeta para portátil haya sido instalada correctamente.

1. Haga clic con el botón derecho del ratón sobre “Mi PC” y seleccione
“Propiedades”.
2. Seleccione la pestaña del “Administrador de dispositivos”.
3. Tras la instalación del controlador para USB 2.0 de Belkin, podrá apreciar
que se ha añadido a la lista de dispositivos un nuevo encabezamiento de

a) Haga clic en el signo de más (+) situado junto al primer encabezamiento

Procedimiento de instalación para Windows 2000

Este procedimiento de instalación instalará dos controladores USB 1.1 para

OHCI y un controlador de host USB 2.0 para EHCI.

Nota importante: Existen dos formas de instalar los controladores USB 2.0
necesarios en Windows 2000.

1. Si dispone de una conexión a Internet:

Windows 2000 le permitirá establecer un vínculo con la página web de
actualizaciones de Windows y descargar la versión más reciente de los
controladores de soporte de USB 2.0 de Microsoft. Continúe con la sección
“Instalación del controlador de Microsoft”.

2. Si no dispone de una conexión a Internet:

Los controladores USB 2.0 serán instalados del CD de instalación

8. Se localizará el controlador para el “Universal Serial Bus Controller” ES

9. Ahora se instalará el controlador para el “Standard Enhanced PCI to USB

3. Una vez instalado el controlador, seleccione “Yes, I want to restart my computer
now” (Sí, deseo reiniciar mi ordenador ahora). Haga clic en “Close” (Cerrar).
4. Después de que Windows se haya reiniciado, localice la ranura CardBus de su
ordenador portátil.
5. Inserte la Tarjeta para portátil en la ranura. Aplique la presión suficiente para
asegurar que esté bien colocada.

Nota: No conecte ningún dispositivo a su Tarjeta para portátil hasta que no

6. Una vez insertada la Tarjeta para portátil, se instalarán automáticamente

Nota importante: Si ya ha efectuado la actualización a Windows XP Service

Pack 1, el soporte para su Tarjeta para portátil se encontrará ya instalado en
su ordenador. Si no ha efectuado la actualización a Windows XP Service Pack
1, o si desea emplear el controlador de software de Belkin, pase a la sección
“Instalación del controlador de Belkin”.

Utilización del controlador de software de Windows XP Service Pack 1

Este procedimiento de instalación instalará dos controladores USB 1.1 para
OHCI y un controlador de host USB 2.0 para EHCI.

1. Localice la ranura CardBus de su ordenador.

2. Inserte la Tarjeta para portátil en la ranura. Aplique la presión suficiente
para asegurar que la Tarjeta esté bien colocada.
3. Encienda su ordenador.
4. Cuando se reinicie Windows, la Tarjeta para portátil será detectada
y se instalarán de forma automática los controladores para los dos
controladores de host USB para OHCI y para el controlador de host para

Nota bene: L’adattatore di corrente incluso non è necessario per dispositivi

USB alimentati via bus, quali tastiere e mouse USB senza un hub USB
incorporato o periferiche USB autoalimentate, come alcuni dischi rigidi,
stampanti, ecc. I dispositivi autoalimentati che assorbono una grande
quantità di corrente direttamente dal bus USB, quali webcam, tastiere con
hub USB incorporato e alcuni scanner, potrebbero richiedere l’impiego di un

 Installazione

Procedura di installazione per Windows 98 SE

Questa procedura installerà due controller OHCI USB 1.1, un controller host
EHCI USB 2.0 e i relativi hub root USB.

Nota bene: non inserire la scheda nel computer fino a quando non si ricevono
indicazioni in questo senso.

1. Inserire il CD-ROM contenente il programma d’installazione nel lettore di

CD-ROM. Dopo alcuni istanti, il menu principale si aprirà automaticamente.
2. Selezionare “Install USB 2.0 Driver” (Installazione dei driver USB 2.0).
3. Il programma d’installazione guidata ora installerà l’utilità CardBus per
l’adattatore CardBus USB 2.0. Annotare le informazioni fornite a riguardo
dell’utilità e cliccare su “Next” (Avanti) per continuare.
4. Una volta installato il driver, selezionare “Yes, I want to restart my
computer now.”, (sì, desidero riavviare il computer adesso). Selezionare
“Close” (Chiudi).
5. Dopo aver riavviato Windows, individuare lo slot CardBus del computer
portatile.
6. Inserire la scheda PCI nello slot. Esercitare la pressione necessaria ad
inserire la scheda.
7. Windows rileverà il “NEC USB Open Host Controller” e si aprirà la finestra IT
di dialogo “Add New Hardware Wizard” (Installazione guidata nuovo
hardware). Fare clic su “Next” (Avanti).
8. Selezionare “Search for the best driver for your device” (Cerca driver
migliore) e cliccare “Next” (Avanti).
9. Deselezionare tutte le caselle e cliccare su “Next” (Avanti). Windows
ricercherà il driver per “NEC USB Open Host Controller”. Fare clic su “Next”
(Avanti). (A questo punto Windows potrebbe richiedere di inserire il CD di
installazione di Windows. Se richiesto, inserire il CD nel lettore CD-ROM e
proseguire con la procedura di installazione).

10. L’installazione di “NEC USB Open Host Controller” ora è completata. Fare
clic su “Finish” (Fine).
11. L’installazione guidata del nuovo hardware ripeterà ora il processo
d’installazione per il secondo controller host OHCI.
12. Ripetere le fasi 7-10.
13. Windows ora ricercherà “Belkin USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller”.
Fare clic su “Next” (Avanti).
14. Windows troverà i driver necessari e completerà l’installazione di “Belkin
USB 2.0 High Speed Host Controller” e “USB 2.0 Root Hub Device”.

L’installazione della scheda PCI è così completata.

Verifica dell’installazione (Windows 98 SE)

Verificare in “Gestione periferiche” che la scheda sia stata installata
correttamente.

1. Fare clic col tasto destro su “Risorse del computer” e selezionare

“Proprietà”.
2. Selezionare la scheda “Gestione periferiche”.
3. Dopo l’installazione del driver USB 2.0 Belkin, si noterà che all’elenco
delle unità è stata aggiunta una seconda voce per “Universal Serial Bus
Controllers”.

Procedura d’installazione per Windows ME

Questa procedura installerà due controller OHCI USB 1.1, un controller host
EHCI USB 2.0 e i relativi hub root USB.

Nota bene: non inserire la scheda nel computer fino a quando non si ricevono
indicazioni in questo senso.

1. Inserire il CD-ROM contenente il programma d’installazione nel lettore di

CD-ROM. Dopo alcuni istanti il menu principale si apre automaticamente.
2. Selezionare “Install USB 2.0 Driver” (Installazione dei driver USB 2.0).
3. Il programma d’installazione guidata ora installerà l’utilità CardBus per
l’adattatore CardBus USB 2.0. Annotare le informazioni fornite a riguardo
dell’utilità e cliccare su “Next” (Avanti) per continuare.
4. Una volta installato il driver, selezionare “Yes, I want to restart my
computer now.”, (sì, desidero riavviare il computer adesso). Selezionare
“Close” (Chiudi).
5. Dopo aver riavviato Windows, individuare lo slot CardBus del computer
portatile.
6. Inserire la scheda PCI nello slot. Esercitare la pressione necessaria ad
IT inserire la scheda.
7. Dopo l’inserimento della scheda, Windows rileverà “NEC USB Open
Host Controller (E13+)” e “Belkin USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Host Controller”. I
driver necessari verranno installati automaticamente. Non è necessaria
alcun’immissione di dati da parte dell’utente.
8. Dopo l’installazione dei controller host USB, Windows rileverà “USB Root
Hub” e installerà automaticamente il driver necessario. Questa procedura
verrà ripetuta un’altra volta.
9. Riavviare il computer per completare l’installazione.

Dopo l’installazione, verificare nella scheda Gestione periferiche che la scheda
sia stata correttamente installata

1. Fare clic col tasto destro su “Risorse del computer” e selezionare

“Proprietà”.

3. Dopo l’installazione del driver USB 2.0 Belkin, si noterà che all’elenco
delle unità è stata aggiunta una seconda voce per “Universal Serial Bus

Procedura d’installazione per Windows 2000

Questa procedura installerà due controller OHCI USB 1.1 e un controller host
EHCI USB 2.0.

Avviso importante: vi sono due metodi per installare i driver richiesti USB 2.0
sotto Windows 2000.

1. Se si dispone di una connessione Internet:

Windows 2000 vi consentirà di collegarvi al sito Internet di Windows per
scaricherare i più recenti driver USB 2.0 di Microsoft. Procedere con il
paragrafo “Installazione del driver Microsoft.

2. Se non si dispone di una connessione Internet:

i driver USB 2.0 saranno installati dal CD con software d’installazione di
Belkin. Procedere con il paragrafo “Installazione del driver Belkin”.

Installazione del driver Microsoft

1. Individuare lo slot CardBus del computer.

IT 2. Inserire la scheda PCI nello slot. Esercitare la pressione necessaria ad
inserire la scheda.
3. Accendere il computer.
4. Al termine del caricamento, Window avvierà il processo di installazione.

Nota bene: non collegare alcun dispositivo alla scheda se l’installazione del
driver non è stata ancora completata.

Nota bene: a seconda della potenza del computer, il rilevamento della scheda
potrebbe richiedere dai 30 ai 60 secondi.

5. A questo punto Windows ricercherà i driver per “Universal Serial Bus

Controller” e avvierà il programma di “Installazione guidata nuovo
hardware”.
Fare clic su “Next” (Avanti).
6. Selezionare “Search for suitable driver for my device (Recommended)”,
(Cerca driver migliore). Fare clic su “Next” (Avanti).
7. Selezionare “Microsoft Windows Update” (Aggiornamenti di Windows). Fare
clic su “Next” (Avanti).

Nota bene: nel caso che l’opzione di aggiornamento di Microsoft Windows

non sia disponibile, verificare la connessione a Internet. Se si dovessere
verificare dei problemi di connessione a Internet, proseguire con il paragrafo
“Installazione dei driver Belkin”.

8. Il sistema ora ricercherà il driver per “Universal Serial Bus Controller”. Fare
clic su “Next” (Avanti).
9. Il sistema ora installerà il driver per “Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host
Controller”. Fare clic su “Finish” (Fine). IT
L’installazione è completata.

Verifica dell’installazione (driver Microsoft)

Dopo l’installazione, verificare nella scheda Gestione periferiche che la scheda
sia stata correttamente installata.

6. Dopo l’inserimento della scheda, tutti i driver necessari verranno installati

automaticamente. Terminata l’installazione, il programma vi richiederà di
fare clic su “Finish” (Fine) e riavviare il computer.

Verifica dell’installazione (driver Belkin)

Terminata l’installazione, verificare in Gestione periferiche di Windows che
tutti i componenti della scheda siano stati installati correttamente.

1. Fare clic con il tasto destro su “Risorse del computer”.

2. Selezionare “Proprietà”.
3. Selezionare la scheda “Hardware” e fare clic su “Gestione periferiche”.

livello Service Pack 1, il supporto per la scheda è già presente nel sistema
operativo. Se non è già stato aggiornato Windows XP mediante il Service Pack
1, o nel caso si desideri utilizzare il driver Belkin, proseguire con il paragrafo
“Installazione del driver Belkin”.

Il Service Pack 1 di Windows XP

Questa procedura installerà due controller OHCI USB 1.1 e un controller host
EHCI USB 2.0.

1. Individuare lo slot CardBus del computer.

2. Inserire la scheda PCI nello slot. Esercitare la pressione necessaria ad
inserire la scheda.
3. Accendere il computer.
