Chapter 04 - AWL
Chapter 04 - AWL
AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS
This Airworthiness Limitations Section is FAA approved and specifies maintenance required under 14 CFR 43.16 and 91.403 unless an alternative
program has been FAA approved. The following Airworthiness Limitations relating to the life of the airplane and its components have been established
with respect to the Model 400/400A.
Refer to LIMITATIONS in the appropriate Pilot's Operating Manual and FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual for a detailed delineation of the flight
limitations of the airplane.
This Chapter 04 of the Model 400/400A Airworthiness Limitations Manual includes the following subchapters:
a. 04-00-00 - Airworthiness Limitations
b. 04-00-01 - Overhaul and Replacement and Inspection Time Limits (RJ-1 and After)
c. 04-00-02 - Overhaul and Replacement and Inspection Time Limits (RK-1 and After)
The airworthiness limitations listed in this chapter are assigned to airplane components and assemblies based upon experience, testing and
engineering judgement and are subject to change only with FAA approval.
TIME-LIMITED INSPECTIONS
Chapters 04-00-01 and 04-00-02 designate the Airworthiness Limitations Time-Limited Inspections. Refer to Chapter 05 in the Model 400/400A
Maintenance Manual for additional time-limited inspections that are also recommended for continued airworthiness.
The following guidelines may be used to assess the life status of an airplane part.
a. Original part:
1. For determining compliance with calendar-time life limitations, the beginning of the part life shall be the date of issuance of the original airplane
airworthiness certificate.
2. For determining compliance with usage related life limitations, the total airplane hours, landings, or cycles shall be considered appropriate.
b. Replacement part:
1. For determining compliance with calendar-time life limitations, consider the calendar time since the logbook verified installation date plus any
prior usage of the replacement part.
2. For determining compliance with usage related life limitations, consider the airplane hours, landings, or cycles as appropriate, accrued since the
logbook verified part installation plus any prior usage of the replacement part.
UNIDENTIFIED PARTS
Upon performing required scheduled inspection for any component listed herein, if a component serial number or date code cannot be found
marked on it that uniquely identifies the component, then, except for those items that are noted as being impractical to mark, a serial number should
be assigned to the component.
That serial number should be permanently marked on the component in an inconspicuous but accessible location using an appropriate permanent
method and henceforth life tracking of the component should reflect that serial number.
A recommended serial numbering format for parts installed on in-service airplanes is the installed-on airplane serial number followed by a two digit
sequence number to allow unique identification of multiple identical part numbers that might be installed on the same airplane (i.e. multiple part
number 45A10511-19 spoiler support fittings installed on RK-24 would be assigned serial numbers RK2401, RK2402, etc.). Part numbers with
singular usage on RK-24 would be assigned serial number RK2401.
Contact Beechcraft Customer Service if you have questions regarding whether the desired marking may affect the part's integrity.
