Airworthiness Limitations Manual (Rev D)

04-00-00 (Rev Mar.14)

AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS
This Airworthiness Limitations Section is FAA approved and specifies maintenance required under 14 CFR 43.16 and 91.403 unless an alternative
program has been FAA approved. The following Airworthiness Limitations relating to the life of the airplane and its components have been established
with respect to the Model 400/400A.
Refer to LIMITATIONS in the appropriate Pilot's Operating Manual and FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual for a detailed delineation of the flight
limitations of the airplane.
This Chapter 04 of the Model 400/400A Airworthiness Limitations Manual includes the following subchapters:
a. 04-00-00 - Airworthiness Limitations
b. 04-00-01 - Overhaul and Replacement and Inspection Time Limits (RJ-1 and After)
c. 04-00-02 - Overhaul and Replacement and Inspection Time Limits (RK-1 and After)
The airworthiness limitations listed in this chapter are assigned to airplane components and assemblies based upon experience, testing and
engineering judgement and are subject to change only with FAA approval.

INSPECTION INTERVAL TOLERANCE

Note: Items listed in the Overhaul/Replacement column must be accomplished when indicated. No exceedance (overfly) is authorized.
Items listed in the Inspection Interval column are allowed the following inspection interval tolerance.
Inspection intervals based on flight hours or landings may be exceeded by no more than 20 flight hours or 15 landing cycles, as applicable. Any flight
hour or landing exceedance used beyond the core inspection interval(s) must be subtracted when computing the next repetitive inspection. Refer to
Example 1.
Example 1:
• A repetitive inspection based on flight hours is due every 1400 flight hours (not to exceed 1420 flight hours). This requirement was accomplished at
1418 flight hours. The next repetitive inspection is now due at 2800 flight hours.
• (1418 hours plus 1400 hours minus the 18 hour exceedance = 2800 hours)
• A repetitive inspection based on landing cycles is due every 7000 landings (not to exceed 7015 landings). This requirement was accomplished at
7007 landings. The next repetitive inspection is now due at 14,000 landings.
• (7007 landings plus 7000 landings minus the 7 landing exceedance = 14,000 landings)
Owner/operators who wish to perform an inspection earlier than the core interval(s) may do so without prior Beechcraft Corporation (BC)
concurrence. In such cases, compute the next repetitive inspection(s) due by adding the applicable core inspection interval to the time/landings the
inspection(s) were accomplished. Refer to Example 2.
Example 2:
• A repetitive airframe inspection due every 2400 flight hours. This inspection is accomplished at 2360 flight hours. The next repetitive inspection is
now due at 4760 flight hours (not to exceed 4780 flight hours).
• (2360 hours plus 2400 hours = 4760 hours)
Inspection intervals based on calendar time are due no later than the last day of the month in which the inspection comes due. Refer to Example 3.
Example 3:
• A repetitive calendar inspection requirement, due every 5 years, was completed 06/08/2006. The next repetitive inspection, now due on
06/08/2011, must be accomplished no later than 06/30/2011

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS INTRODUCED BY REVISION ACTION

Unless otherwise directed by applicable civil aviation regulatory notification or BC Service Bulletin, additional inspection requirement(s) introduced
into the Airworthiness Limitations Manual by publication revision action should be accomplished at the next SCHEDULED INSPECTION or no later
than 6 months whichever comes first.

TIME-LIMITED INSPECTIONS
Chapters 04-00-01 and 04-00-02 designate the Airworthiness Limitations Time-Limited Inspections. Refer to Chapter 05 in the Model 400/400A
Maintenance Manual for additional time-limited inspections that are also recommended for continued airworthiness.

CONTROL OF LIFE-LIMITED PARTS

Warning: If the life status of a part cannot be determined or the life-limit of a part has been reached, the part shall be considered to be
beyond its safe life and must be disposed of in accordance with 14 CFR Part 43.
14 CFR Part 43.10 requires all persons who remove life-limited parts from airplanes safely control these parts. Most life-limited parts can be
controlled by using a record keeping system based on the serial numbers of each part (14 CFR Part 43.10.c.1). Life-limited parts which have been
predetermined to be impractical for marking with a serial number have been identified and annotated by an asterisk ( * ), which references a footnote,
at the beginning of the life-limited part.
Where a serial number has not been assigned to a life-limited part, one of the following methods such as tagging or permanent marking can be used
(14 CFR Part 43.10.c.2-7). Beechcraft offers the following guidance for adhering to this rule.

Airworthiness Limitations Manual (Rev D)
04-00-00 (Rev Mar.14)

The following guidelines may be used to assess the life status of an airplane part.
a. Original part:
1. For determining compliance with calendar-time life limitations, the beginning of the part life shall be the date of issuance of the original airplane
airworthiness certificate.
2. For determining compliance with usage related life limitations, the total airplane hours, landings, or cycles shall be considered appropriate.
b. Replacement part:
1. For determining compliance with calendar-time life limitations, consider the calendar time since the logbook verified installation date plus any
prior usage of the replacement part.
2. For determining compliance with usage related life limitations, consider the airplane hours, landings, or cycles as appropriate, accrued since the
logbook verified part installation plus any prior usage of the replacement part.

IDENTIFICATION AND TRACKING OF LIFE-LIMITED PARTS

For parts removed from an airplane the following are suggested methods of tracking life status and complying with 14 CFR Part 43. (This is not an
exhaustive list.)
• The part may be marked with permanent marker.
• A tag may be attached to the part.
• A record keeping procedure may be established for the part.
The following data may be used to track the life status of a part. (This is not an exhaustive list.)
• Airplane serial number
• Part number
• Part name
• Part serial number
• Date part was installed/removed
• Part flight hours/landings/cycles

UNIDENTIFIED PARTS
Upon performing required scheduled inspection for any component listed herein, if a component serial number or date code cannot be found
marked on it that uniquely identifies the component, then, except for those items that are noted as being impractical to mark, a serial number should
be assigned to the component.
That serial number should be permanently marked on the component in an inconspicuous but accessible location using an appropriate permanent
method and henceforth life tracking of the component should reflect that serial number.
A recommended serial numbering format for parts installed on in-service airplanes is the installed-on airplane serial number followed by a two digit
sequence number to allow unique identification of multiple identical part numbers that might be installed on the same airplane (i.e. multiple part
number 45A10511-19 spoiler support fittings installed on RK-24 would be assigned serial numbers RK2401, RK2402, etc.). Part numbers with
singular usage on RK-24 would be assigned serial number RK2401.
Contact Beechcraft Customer Service if you have questions regarding whether the desired marking may affect the part's integrity.

OVERHAUL, REPLACEMENT AND INSPECTION TIME LIMITS (RJ-1 AND AFTER)

Note: A landing cycle count was added to the landing gear inspection intervals Jan 18/02. Airplanes that have already exceeded the
new landing cycle limitations are permitted an additional 200 landing cycles above the present landing cycle count (not to
exceed the existing hourly limitation). This extension only applies to the inspection due Jan 18/02 and not to any subsequent
inspections.
