EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL SELF-CARE FOR BLACK WOMEN
The black woman's continued oppression cannot be addressed enough. She must be
able to express herself completely. She must have the capacity to love herself. She
requires self-healing freedom that enables her to pursue her own passions. She
needs to be liberated to make errors and grow from them. Black women have the
freedom to develop they just do not know it yet. Despite being free, she is bound
by the ignorance of the past. The black woman of today and the black woman of
yesterday are very different from one another, but inside, they are in the same lane.
Despite how things may appear on the outside, the factors that influence an
individual are nevertheless ignored. Black women's minds, hearts, and spirits are
still confined and subject to outside influences. Until she develops inner control
she will never have full control. The reins are in her hands if only she believes that
for herself.
“Don't let them in, don't let them see. Be the good girl you always have to
be. Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know”
This popular Elsa song is well-known to parents or guardians of young children.
While children appreciate it for pure entertainment, it appears that this song's
origins were influenced by a woman's typical daily life. A black woman. She is
instructed to hold everything inside from an early age since doing otherwise will
make it difficult for her to manage a household, care for her children, and fulfil her
husband's needs. She has long been conditioned to put everyone else before
herself. They continue to embrace the flow and the dribbles until there is nothing
left for her to pour, while knowing fully well that it is impossible to pour from an
empty cup. The woman. The black woman understands how to provide even when
she herself is depleted.
However, one wonders if adults and the society which place these burdensome
responsibilities on a young girl's delicate shoulders are aware of the immense
mental strain they subject her to. If not this, it will be that. Join me in this stroll.
The young black girl is encouraged to anticipate the moment when she will
become a woman before puberty, but to prepare for it now and act as if it has
already happened. She is instructed that going through this stage will set her apart
from her brothers and other men. As soon as that time comes, she is instructed to
wait for the wonderful day when a man will come and claim her because that is the
highest honour a woman can receive. Due to her constant focus on the future
ignoring the now, the black girl's childhood has been stolen. Her present has never
mattered. There is always a next. This stifles imagination, self-discovery, and even
the simple joy of living.
As with everything in life. A young black woman emerges from this little black
girl. She is plagued by worry, self-hatred, and self-doubt. Because her sentiments
have never been acknowledged, she is unable to express them. It appears as though
she was prepared for a part. A position that is ever-evolving along with the
environment we live in. She struggles to catch her breath since she was raised to
take charge and be at the helm of everything. How could she when she needs to
give everything around her life?
Giving the black woman permission is the sole aim of this piece. Allowing herself
to exist, breathe, and be…by herself. Forgiveness and healing of the wounded
young girl inside are the main objectives. If you have to babysit her, do it. You
possess the power to return to that young girl's time and give her the affection she
desires. You have it in you to be able to forgive yourself for every time you put
someone else before yourself and for every silent scream you've ever let out. This
is the sign you've been waiting for, if you were. Breathe, grow, heal, and prosper.
You should look for a tribe that will listen to you and understand you. The abilities
you were intended to learn as a young girl are now yours to cultivate. How to
establish sound boundaries and interact with others without compromising your
identity. You can start establishing genuine, profound connections with your
sensuality and spirituality. Connect with the One who created you out of a desire to
learn more about yourself, not out of a need to please others. Self-discovery is the
goal of the path. Discover your personality, your loves, and your dislikes. Like
anyone else, you are capable of changing your opinion. Allow yourself to feel free
to regret your decision from yesterday.
One step is all it takes to go a thousand miles. This particular journey is a
marathon, not a sprint. All it takes is one day at a time. If the black woman starts
with one small step today, she will eventually become her genuine goddess self.
The power is within and ready to be unlocked.
