APPOINTMENT

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to you to inform you of our appointment of Luis Morales who will join us as
the new Marketing Manager at the start of July.

We chose Luis because he has excellent experience in sports hospitality. Since graduating
in Business & Marketing in Madrid, Luis has worked for two Premier League football
clubs in corporate hospitality. For the last three years, he has worked in a similar position
as a Marketing Manager for Sports Events UK. Last year, he led an important project for
a major international client, and his team were able to increase the company's hospitality
business as a result.

His first day in office will be Monday 6th July. In order to welcome him, there will be a
meeting of senior management and the marketing team in the boardroom at 10 a.m. I hope
you are able to attend and join me in welcoming Luis to the company.

I look forward to seeing you all at the meeting.

COMPLAINT

Dear Mr Roberts,

I recently travelled on your airline on a business trip. I booked a first class ticket, but
when I arrived at check-in I was given a business class seat. The flight was full and staff
refused to change my seat. I also paid extra for priority boarding, which I did not receive.

On the flight, I asked for a vegetarian meal, but when it arrived there was meat in the dish.
I know that you advertise as a 'no frills' airline, but the food and service should not be this
bad.

I was surprised at these problems because I frequently use your airline and have not
experienced problems in the past. I would therefore like you to refund the cost of my first
class ticket. I certainly did not receive first class service.

I would be grateful if you could respond to my complaint as soon as possible.

PROJECT UPDATE

Hi Hanna,

As discussed, here is an update on the construction project. The good news is that the
team is working well and we will finish the project on time.

There have been a few unexpected problems, but we have found solutions for some of
them. For example, one of our senior engineers was ill and left the company. We have
employed a graduate, which will reduce salary costs, but there will be some increased
costs for training.

Also, one of our suppliers was unable to provide the electrical equipment that we need for
the project. We have now found a new company that specialises in the machines. They
can deliver the equipment by our deadline. However, their prices are 5% more expensive.
This means that we will be slightly over-budget for this stage of the project.

Let me know if you need any further information. I look forward to seeing you at our
team meeting next month.

I hope you are well. It was good to catch up last Thursday at the project meeting. By the
way, I know you’re busy, but I need your help with a presentation to HR next week.
Could you let me have the following information? I’d like to know if the third phase of
the China project is now complete. If not, what date do you have for completion? Is
Emilia now working on the project? I’d appreciate it if you could give me her starting
date. Sorry to ask so many questions! Would you mind sending me the latest schedule for
the project? Would it be possible to have this information by tomorrow? I’d also like to
request a meeting with the customer in Hong Kong in April. I’d therefore be grateful if
you could contact him and arrange it. Thanks in advance.
