FOCUS
PRE-LESSON
Write Ben and Misty on the board. Say phrases from the story, spoken by Ben and Misty. Pupils call out
either Ben or Misty.

LESSON DELIVERY
1. Pupils look at the pictures and read the three phrases silently. They match phrases with pictures and
compare answer in pairs.
2. Write Ben and red on the board, using a red pen for the e. separate out three phonemes in the words
and say each one separately (e.g. B - e – n)before saying the whole word.
ACTIVITIES
3. Pupils repeat ‘This is Ben from the red team.’ Pupils find the speech bubble in the story. (The man in
the red sweater)
4. Play the recording. Pupils look at the picture, read and repeat. (CD1 40)
5. Repeat the sentences as a class without recording. Say it loudly, slowly, quickly, whisper it, etc. Pupils
take turns to repeat in pairs. (HOTS)
6. Pupils do exercise.

POST LESSON
7. Pupils close their Student’s Books. Dictate the sound sentences while pupils write. They compare their
sentences with a partner before checking in Student’s Book. (21st CA)
