1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Purpose
The Upgrade module in the DeltaV services app is developed to assist the field
service engineer during the data collection phase of an upgrade project.
• Share the Data Collection Report among the team members and
upgrade experts involved in the upgrade project
- View and update Data Collection Instances created by other users but
only if it is shared with you.
With this access level you can perform all the operations that a service
engineer can do. In addition, you can also:
- View and update All Data collection instances created by all users from
your support company.
To check your Support Company in SMS, follow the steps as shown in the image
below:
Enter the DeltaV System ID for which you are collecting Data. And enter the date of
data collection from site.
The App will establish connection with SMS and a data collection instance will be
created. For this step, direct connection to Emerson Network or via VPN is
required.
Once the data collection instance is created, you will be directed to a setup page.
NOTE: When data collection is setup without the SSM tool, there will be additional
questions to manually collect information that will normally be automatically collected
by SSM.
Respond to the questions on setup page then click on ‘Proceed’ button to move to
next page.

2
The Customer information will be retrieved from SMS and will be displayed in this
page. If it is not current, you can change it in the App, as some of the fields in
‘customer and requestor information’ are editable.
2 3
You can answer a question either by selecting the dropdown arrow under “Select
Answer’ column, or by entering text under “Free text answer” column.
You may also enter comments against any question to provide additional information
regarding any question. Comments are not mandatory fields.
Click on ‘Next Category once you are done with answering all the questions in this
category.
Once you respond to all the questions in this section, the “Completed’ column will
turn in green colour. Click on “Next Section” to get to the node level section.
If the node list does not match with what is at site, then you can add or remove the
nodes by using the “Add Node” or “Delete Node” buttons in the app.
Answer all the questions for each node by selecting the dropdown arrow under
“Select Answer’ column, or by entering free text under “Free text answer” column.
You may also enter comments against any question to provide additional information
regarding any question. Comments are not mandatory fields.
There are common questions in the app especially for the same type of nodes. If you
have answered all or some of the questions for a node, and if you have the same
answers for these questions for other nodes then you can copy the answers and
comments from one node to all other nodes of similar type in one go. Note that this
command will not overwrite existing answers.
Step 1: Answer the questions for one node and then click on “Copy
answers/Comments” button.
2

Step 2: Select the questions to copy by selecting checkboxes or by using “Select All”
button. And then click on ‘select nodes’ button.

Step 3: Select Nodes for which you want to copy the answers/comments and click on
‘Copy answers’ button.
The selected answers will then be copied to other nodes. If desired, you can further
change/update some of the answers if any node has some different settings or
specifications.
Once you answer all the questions on the Node level, then click on the “Next Section”
button.
Import the output of SSM tool (xml file) into the DeltaV service app as per steps
provided here.
The app will read the xml file and it will update the automated information section
accordingly.
This may also be a good time to gather additional information that will support your
answers in the other sections of the report.
Step1: Select the checkboxes if you have collected all the backups listed here.
Note that you can continue using the DeltaV Services app while the browser
continues to upload the file in the background.
Completed Data collection will move the report to Data Collection complete state.
More about this state in section 3.
This page also allows you to do the following actions to the report:
- Cancel Upgrade Request – cancelling the upgrade request will delete the
whole report and the files associated with it from the Upgrade Services
Module dashboard.
- Export questions – will generate a csv file that contains all the questions
and answers from the Systemwide and Node Level Information sections
- Export automated information – will generate a csv file that contains all
the information from the Automated Information section
The upgrade Services Module Dashboard allows you to track the status of all the
data collection instances that you created or those which are shared with you. If you
have a Global access to the App, then you will be able to see all the data collection
instances created by the Service Engineers from your support company.
b) Awaiting Data Status: This status appears when there’s some missing
information that the user still needs to complete or send out through the
App to complete the Data Collection.
When the user clicks on “Complete Data Collection” on the “Upgrade Summary”
section of the Data Collection instance, the report will go to this table.
This is meant to inform all users with access to the report that the site data
collection is complete, but the Upgrade Project has not been completed yet so
access to data is still needed. In this state, all data is accessible to the owner
and the shared users.
When the user clicks on “Complete Upgrade Project” (only appears when the
instance is in Data Collection Complete state) on the “Upgrade Summary”
section of the Data Collection instance, the report will go to this table.
This is meant to inform all users with access to the report that the site has been
upgraded and the project is complete. All data will now be archived, and the files
uploaded on OneDrive will be deleted.
4.1 Reassign
You can select this option if you wish to reassign the data collection instance from
your name to any other user from your support company.
Step1: from Customer/Requester info. Page, change user name in the “Requested
by” field.
4.2 Share
You can select this option if you wish to share the data collection instance with any
other user.
The ‘Already Shared’ table will show the current list of users with access to the
report.
After sharing the data collection instance with other users, they will get an email
notification as shown here:
4.3 Cancel
You can select this option if you wish to cancel the data collection instance.
Deleting the instance will remove the report from the dashboard and delete all
associated files from OneDrive.
You will be asked to provide a reason for cancelation in the comment box.
