Chapter I
Introduction
Background of the Study
With the continuous development of agricultural technology, farm inputs have retain among
farm owner on their agricultural needs. Today, innovation of fertilizer either organic or non-
organic are readily available in the market.
Moreover, with the continuous use of fertilizer such as organic and inorganic fertilizer could
be easily purchase from the market and other merchant dealer. Fertilizer play an important
role in providing crops with nutrients they need to grow and be harvested for nutritious food.
Due to its benefit, it sustain enough food to feed the worlds population.
The emergence of advance agricultural technologies, such as efficient fertilization methods,
are required to meet the global demand. Organic materials and fertilizers improve the soil
texture, allowing it to hold water, longer and increase the bacterial and fungal activity in the
soil. The importance of fertilizer and thus for both the national economy and the individual
farmer, is much that several countries have introduced as early as the end of the 19th century
legislative measures designed to control their production and use.
For example a scenario in San Mateo, Isabela where farmers frequently apply granule,
powder and liquid fertilizer in their farm in order to grow their crops and give a higher
production rate and a lucrative income.
In this context the researchers found out that with using fertilizer, farmers increase crop yield
and improves poor quality land. Thus farmer grow nutritious , healthy crops and sustain the
primary needs of the people.
Problem Statement
1. How effective Golden Agro Granular Fertilizer on different measurement as a growing aid
on pechay production?
Objectives of the Study

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURES
According to Bonnema et al., 2011; McGrath and Quiros, 1992. Brassica rapa L. has
important economic significance worldwide; however, the global distribution and complex
evolutionary history of this species make it difficult to study the genetic structure of its
population. The phenotypic diversity and subspecies of planting oilseeds, food and feed;
these subspecies include the morphological types of oil seeds oleifera (rapeseed), ssp.
dichotoma (brown sarson / thorium), ssp. Trilobites; ssp.Brine (beet); and Asian leafy
vegetable ssp. pekinensis (Chinese cabbage), ssp. chinensis (Bok-Choi), ssp. nipposinica
(mizuna / mibuna), ssp.rapifera (rapini / broccoli rabe), ssp. narinosa (tatsoy), ssp
parachinensis (choy sum) and ssp.perviridis (komatsuna). So far, there are not enough
samples in the research to determine the relationship between all morphological types,
especially oil seed morphological types, and there are still doubts about the contribution of
morphological types and geographic origin to population structure. The 18,272 SNP markers
in the global panel of 333 samples from the national Brapa germplasm system were evaluated
by sequencing, which includes 10 recognized subspecies. The genetic and phylogenetic
relationship of Chinese cabbage Brapa subspecies. Understanding these relationships is the
key to future genetic research and the improvement of the world's most important crops.
Introduction of Brassica.(Genome AA, 2n = 2x = 20) is an agriculturally important food crop
consisting of leafy vegetables, swollen tubers, and vegetable oil morphology (Cartea et al.,
2011). These subspecies include the ssp oilseed morphology. (Turnip), dichotomy subspecies
(brown sarson / thorium), subspecies trilicleis (yellow sarson); ssp.rapa (beet); and Asian
leafy vegetable ssp. pekinensis (Chinese cabbage), ssp. chinensis (Bok-Choi), ssp.
nipposinica (Mizuna / Mibuna), ssp.rapifera (rapini / broccoli rabe), Narinoza (tatsoi)
subspecies, parachinensis (choisum) subspecies and perviridis (komatsuna) subspecies. These
different subspecies are traditionally classified according to cultural use and morphology.
-Bird et al, (2017). Population structure and phylogenetic relationships in a diverse
panel of Brassica rapa L. Manufacturing efforts that use organic fertilizers to supplement
education and promotion must prove that its technology is superior to the sustainable and safe
production management practices found in real-world experiments. According to Lalitha et
al., organic fertilizer. (2000), cited by Rekha et al. (2013) Has a huge impact on performance.
Sabler and Edwards (N.) report that conventional fertilizers respond best to plant growth
when used with vermicompost. Before providing information for academic and development
purposes, the effectiveness of organic fertilizers on the growth and yield of certain
plants/crops. Copying is possible. The data and information obtained from the research will
contribute to similar activities in the field of organic agriculture. It will also enable the
university to fulfill the core values of its responsibilities, especially in the areas of
environment and food safety, and meet the requirements.Section 22 of the 2010 Organic
Agriculture Act, which requires the development and promotion of organic agriculture
(R.10068). The research results can be compared or contrasted with existing knowledge about
the effectiveness of organic fertilizers, which is useful. Development priorities for
government and non-governmental organizations.
- Machica, A., & Machica, A. (2016).Growth and yield performance of organic
fertilizer. According to Pascual, et.al, 2013. The utility of natural fertilizers is one in all the
popular strategies of rejuvenating depleted soils and maintaining fertility levels. In mature
soils, plants reply greater to the addition of natural fertilizers than of chemicals. (PCARRD,
2006). Successive cropping of pechay grown in pots with vermicompost and normal lawn soil
as medium in special combos preferred the boom and improvement of pechay and gave better
income. Likewise, for pechay (Brassica pekinensis L.) business production, the usage of
business compost fertilizer collectively with business powerful microorganism is suggested
for bet.
According to Gonzales et al. (2015). He conducted a study on the response of Pechay
(Brassica napus L.) to various levels of compost fertilizer and discovered that the application
of 75 percent Pure Garden Soil: 25 percent Pure Compost provided the best growth and yield
performance of Pechay in terms of leaf area and fresh weight. The study's findings revealed
that the use of organic fertilizer has a significant impact.

MATERIALS AND METHODS
Seedling Production
The seedling of pechay (Brassica rappa L.) were produced twelve days at the vacant
lot of Guillermo’s farm.
Site Selection
Was conducted at the vacant lot of Guillermo’s farm at Purok 2, Marasat Grande, San
Mateo Isabela.
Land Preparation
The area was cleaned before plowing and was left idle for at least 3 days to allow
weeds to decay and allow weed seeds to germinate before the final plowing. Final harrowing
was done using a rotavator before transplanting until the soil was thoroughly pulverized
Experimental Layout and Design
After the land preparation, an area of 400 cm x 650 cm was divided into 3 plot with a
measurement of 500x100 cm. The treatment were arranged following the procedure with the
form of randomized complete block design.
Experimental Treatment
The following treatment used in the study are the following:
Plot 1- T1= 200 grams of golden agro-granular
Plot 2- T2= 300 grams of golden agro-granular
Plot 3- T3= 500 grams of golden agro-granular
Application of Fertilizer
The computed amount of fertilizer per treatment was applied prior to transplanting of
pechay seedlings serve as basal application.
Transplanting
The seedlings of pechay were transplanted 13 days after sowing and planting distance
was 15cm. Each plot has 50 seedlings of pechay.
Care Management
Cultivation- cultivation was done by using hand tools. Off barring was done 10 days
after transplanting and hilling up was done also 15 days after transplanting using hand
trowel.
Crop protection- Tolda as protection from direct sunlight.
Watering- watering is done through water pump if there is no rainfall occur.
Data Gathered
Growth and yield parameters:
1. Height of the plant- the height of the plant was measured 14 days after treatment.
2. Length of leaves- the length of leaves was measured 2 weeks after treatment.
3. Number of harvested plant- harvesting time was done 22 days after transplanting.
Statistical Analysis
The data collected were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance for randomized
Complete Block Design while the part of the sensory evaluation was used the Analysis of
Variance in Complete Randomized Design. The Least Significant Differences was used in the
cased no significant result.
Statistical Tools used:
The Following statistical tools were used to analyze the data gathered:
1. Mean. It was used to obtain the central measure of the mass of the yield. The mean was
compared to the treatment total in terms of mass.
2. Analysis of Variance (AnoVa). It was used to know if there is a significant difference
among the treatment in terms of height and number of leaves.
3. Coefficient of Variation. It is a measure of dispersion to determine how far each gathered
data from the mean and from each other.
4. T-Test of Significant Difference. It is used to determine which between the two given
treatment is better.
Cost and Return Analysis
The return on investment of producing pechay was computed using simple economic
analysis. The cost of production was based on prevailing price. The gross income was
determined based on the existing price of per kilo in market.
CHAPTER IV
OBSERVATION AND DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
Observations Description of the Experimental Area.
The experimental area was at the vacant lot at Guillermo’s farm at Marasat Grande, San
Mateo Isabela. It was observed that the newly transplanted plants under field condition had a
good growth from the day of transplanting, due to the hot weather, some of the plant died.
Number of Days from Transplanting to Leaves Enlargement
It was observed that the leaves enlarge at 10 days after transplanting. Pechay were measured
after one week of treatment.
Discussion of Result
Measurements of leaves. The length of the leaves after 20 days for applying the different
measurements of Golden agro granular fertilizer obtained no significant by using the analysis
of variance. The application of GAGF obtained the longest leaves on application of T3
respectively with treatment mean 7.33 and 7 cm.
