Monday 31st, July

We work on the Story: Pedro’s project


Before reading:
● Play hangman to introduce the word “competitions”. T explains that the story is about
a science competition. Ask the class to think of different types of competitions:
painting, swimming, football, writing…. T invites the class to tell about competitions
they’ve taken part.
While reading:
Till page 8.
T makes a statement and asks the class to give you the thumbs up if it’s true and thumbs down
if it’s false. Sts correct the statements.
T provides sts with the translations of the words they don’t know.

After reading:

What’s the project going to be about? Do you know about The Amazon Jungle? What is the
problem this place is facing?

Wednesday 2nd, August

UNIT 4: BEST FRIENDS


Content:

- Grammar: Simple present, 3rd singular person.


- Lexis: Personality adjectives (lazy, obedient, sociable, reliable…); Clothes and
accessories

WARMER

1) Activate previous knowledge: Write on the Wb “Describing people”


How can we describe people? We can describe them physically and personality.
What’s the difference between describing someone’s personality and someone’s
appearance?

Present them some vocabulary: Look at this!

For appearance adjectives T hands out this photocopy:

2) T encourages sts to build sentences using this new vocabulary. T says: “I have got
straight red hair” “I’m sociable”. Who has brown hair? Who is friendly? Who is shy?...
Cata is friendly (sts repeat after). Joaqui has got brown hair (sts repeat after).
3) Oral work: Describe your partner. T encourages sts to describe their partner. She/he is…
She/ he has got…

Listening:

1) Listen to your teacher and try to remember some information.

I’ll show them a photo of my parents and then read:

Laura is my mother and she is 49 years old. She is really kind and friendly, she likes talking to
other people, so she is very sociable. My mom likes telling jokes; she is very fun. My mom is a
maths teacher and I think she is really intelligent. Physically… She has short brown hair and
brown eyes. She is medium height and thin.

Pablo is my father and he is 52 years old. He is fun and kind, he doesn’t like talking to other
people so he is a bit shy. My dad loves reading books and listening to music. I think he is really
intelligent too. Physically… he is medium height and fit; he has short blonde hair and brown
eyes.

They are amazing!


Can you remember any information about my parents? Which?. T asks some questions
to help sts remember.

Practising

1) Go to page 36 and do exercises 2 and 3. We read the text as a group and then check.
2) Read again and classify the adjectives. Appearance or personality adjectives?

with their descriptions on page 37.
2) Do exercises 5 and 6 on page 37.

DEVELOPMENT

Listening:

[Look like] What does she look like? - Easy Dialogue - Role Play

1) Watch a youtube video. What adjectives can you hear?

T asks sts to listen for all the adjectives. We watch the video. Then, T checks comprehension.

What happened on the video?


What does the little girl look like?
What is she wearing? T activates previous knowledge: “clothes”.

Finally, students practice the chunks/ dialogue orally.
