The G20 foundation is an independent

platform for governance innovation formed to


help develop a framework for better global
governance.
G20 Founded in 26 September 1999 ; 21 years ago with
the aim to Bring together systemically important
industrialized and developing economies to discuss key
issues in the global economy.

The G20 has expanded its agenda since 2008 and heads
of government or heads of state, as well as finance
ministers, foreign ministers.

As G20 is an informal forum which has no permanent staff of its own.


The G20 Presidency rotates between members except the European
Union.
The 19 countries are therefore divided up into five groups, with all but
one group having three members, the other having four.
Nations from the same region are placed in the, Group 3, Group 4
and Group 5.
The group's chair rotates annually among the members
and is selected from a different regional grouping of
countries.

After the 2008 debut summit in Washington DC ,


G20 leaders met twice A year : in London and U.S in 2009,
and in Toronto and south Korea in 2010.

The current (2020) chair was held by Saudi Arabia.


The 2021 summit is planned to be held in Italy.

 The Concept Of A Forum For The World's Major Industrialized
Countries Emerged Before The 1973 Oil Crisis. On Sunday, 25
March 1973.
 United States Secretary Of The Treasury, George Shultz,
Convened An Informal Gathering Of Finance Ministers From West
Germany, France And The United Kingdom Before An Upcoming
Meeting In Washington, D.C.
 In mid-1973, at the World Bank-IMF meetings, Shultz proposed the
addition Japan to the original four nations, who agreed.

November 1975 at Rambouillet,France.

 The Group of Six (G6) was an unofficial


forum which brought together the heads
of the richest industrialized countries.

Country Blames The Other For The Incident.
It Led To The Other Members Of G8 And Then Russia Was
Suspended From The Group And Returned To Its Previous
Name G7.

2020 G20 summit
The 2020 Group of Twenty (G20) summit
was the fifteenth meeting of G20.

It was scheduled to take place in Riyadh,


the capital city of Saudi Arabia, on
21–22 November 2020.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic,


it was held virtually.
