METHOD STATEMENT FOR BOSTIK ARDACOLOR XTREM EASY

EPOXY-BASED TILE ADHESIVE AND TILE GROUT – CLASS R2T

This statement is prepared in order to assist the end users in the preparation and application of BOSTIK
ARDACOLOR XTREM EASY, R2T class, two-part, high-performance epoxy-based tile adhesive and tile grout.
The product is produced in accordance with EN 12004. It is used for the adhesion of finishing materials
such as ceramic, porcelain, glass tiles and mosaic on floor and walls of demanding applications wet areasm
swimming pools, chemical-processing facilities, battery and generator rooms, galvanizing shops,
laboratories, breweries, wastewater treatment facilities, etc. The performance and procedural
information regarding this product are accurate and we will use our best efforts to keep it up.

C. Product Delivery & Storage

Deliver materials to jobsite in sealed, undamaged bags. Each bag shall be identified with material name,
dates of manufacture / expiry and store in covered/roofed areas.

D. Surface Preparation

1. Make sure the substrate has been correctly installed according to relevant standards and
manufacturer recommendations.
2. Allow for minimum curing time for new concrete (7 days).
3. Remove all material that will interfere with bond; these include concrete laitance, oils, grease/wax,
release agents, curing compounds, dust and any loose material.
4. Ensure surface is sound; weak or friable material must be removed.
5. Very porous surfaces and most non-porous surfaces may need priming prior application of the tile
adhesive. Please consult with Bostik Technical support for further assistance.

E. Mixing

Mix the pre-proportioned Part A and B by a hand-held mixer set to slow speed. If partial mixing is done,
ensure proper quantities are followed: Part A and B are mixed together at a ratio of 3 : 1 (by weight).
1. Add Part B into Part A.
2. Mix powder into water with mechanical stirring.
3. Mix for 3 minutes or until consistency is smooth.

F. Application

As Tile Adhesive and Bedding


1. Apply the mortar by trowel to the required thickness for the tile bedding. Ensure correctly-sized
notched trowels are used.
2. For large format tiles and special tiles (like glass), apply and spread a small amount of adhesive
mortar on the bottom and sides of the tiles.
3. Immediately press the tiles firmly into place.
4. Remove adhesive spills from the tile face using clean water.

All workmanship must be carried out in accordance with good workmanship practices. This product is
not designed to be applied as a thick-set adhesive. Concrete surface should be sufficiently level and even
enough prior receiving the tile adhesive.

As Tile Grout
1. Apply tile grout mortar directly to the joints using palette knife / grout trowel / spatula.
2. Remove excess / spill material from the tile face using damp cleaning pads / rags / sponge. Use
as few water as possible.
3. Polish the tiles using a dry lint-free cloth.

F. Coverage

On site coverage will vary widely as it is dependent on a large number of variables. These include but are
not limited to: application technique, substrate texture, wastage, trowel angle, trowel wear, contact
coverage and flatness.
As such the following coverage is intended as a guide only. As such coverage estimates are inaccurate. It
is advised that comparisons between products are based on the mixed volume.

H. Clean Up

Remove using water and wet cloth before the product hardens. If allowed to set, it must be removed
mechanically.
